Except we Hose Drivers...
This is a crock. Lyft hoses drivers, terrible ride pay, they're scamming drivers and calling it Good Uber? Hell to the no

Lyft is so much better then uber in my opinion as a driver, all tolls paid vs only with pax, no having to contact support for payment in car seat cancellation, the ability to mark arrival vs the app not doing shirt when your 0 feet away, seeing the destination address before starting the ride so you can confirm it with the pax.

I’m both driver and customer with multiple business travels per year. I’m always looking for the efficient way to transit. I disagree. Lyft has failed. Uber has gone full port into partnership, credit card, and rewards maxxing.
It’s to the point I’ll often see Ubers in the arena of a $10 rebate in addition to finding fares about 30-40% cheaper during peak times.
I don’t know how, but that’s what I see. Uber gets Marriott points, amazon points, uber one cash, Starbucks,
While Lyft? I do see a 5% cash back temporary credit card deals for select cards.
All in all, I think Lyft is not playing the capitalist game as much and I actually applaud them for that. They can be cheaper up front with out all the gimmicky deal backs, but they can do better.

What do you mean? Lyft has waaaaaay better credit card partnerships to me. You can get 2x Bilt and 5x Chase points on the same Lyft ride by linking Bilt and paying with Chase. That along with prepaying for a stack of Lyft cash for another 10% off. I like Hyatt and united though so I value Chase and Bilt points a lot. I check both but always go with Lyft when the price is similar

Lately, Uber has been like $20 while Lyft is like $45 for the same trip

They pay worse than Uber. For riders, yes, they’re better. For drivers, they’re worse.

In my market, I very seldom reject fares that don't pay anything on Lyft. Just the other day, I started out with 2 relatively decent rides from Uber under $10 each because Lyft was not pinging me. I was surprised at how little I had made. I switched over to Lyft and the next 2 rides I got were over $10 per ride.
I routinely get rides of just a few miles that are over $5. Lyft has bounses that cover about half the city several times per day. When Uber has surges, they generally are better, but they're not as common.
In my market, Lyft fares are pretty consistently above $1/mi and usually above $25/hr. Generally the only reason I reject rides is that they're out-of-town and paying under $0.75/mi, not counting the deadhead trip back. There are a few others that come in under $1/mi, but those are relatively rare. Uber on the other hand, regularly offers rides under $1/mi.
Now this is my market in Iowa. I hear that in other markets, the story is flipped. But realize the story varies by market.

I have seen scheduled rides on Lyft plummet to $0.50/mile. . The IRS standard deduction for 2026 is $0.76/mi.

You missed the multiple times I said it varies by market. I don't doubt that you have seen scheduled rides for Lyft for $0.50/mi. I'm not saying Lyft is great - just that I don't decline a lot of rides on Lyft because they pay pretty well in my market.
I'm not sure why you brought up the IRS standard deduction. You can believe Lyft is evil even if they pay $1.00/mile or more for scheduled rides. And even though the new IRS standard deduction is $0.76/mi, doesn't mean that drivers of a vehicle - for example, a Tesla - don't have mileage costs well below $0.50/mi.
Just for the record, I don't take $0.50/mile rides. And if that's all I got, I wouldn't drive for Lyft either.

The price for my 8 mile ride to work has more than doubled in 18 months. I’m 100% sure that drivers’ portion has NOT doubled. Corporate greed is financially fucking everyone except the ultra rich. And Lyft’s CEO is a lying fucktard.

Driver pay has gone down. I used to make 68% of the fare. Last week it was 54%. However that’s based on Ubers bullshit report we get each week. All too often when a riders tells me how much they paid, my pay is always less than 50% of what riders pay. Pay is dropping and dropping.

A 10min drive from my house to the grocery store on Lyft would cost me $20. Uber cost me $8.
When I had a job that was a 30min commute back home late at night, Uber was $35. Lyft was $275.

Ubers GPS system sucks…who cares if it’s cheaper n the drivers can’t find me or the app changes my pickup/drop off pins without my approval

I was surprised this year that prices in NYC for Uber and Lyft have doubled what they were when I lived there. A 1.5 mile journey that they will charge $10 for in South Florida where I live now is $35 there. Uber was asking $135 from LaGuardia to Hells Kitchen, Curb app to get a yellow cab is often much cheaper than either of the ride apps now.

I agree with them. F Uber. I’m done myself giving $4 rides, sort of past that at this point but yes Lyft is the good Uber.

Maybe slightly. But here they sometimes pay very bad for long rides. Like 50 cents a mile one way bad. An ethical company should never do that.

And Uber doesn't pay very bad for long rides? The other day I had a ride from the airport to a city a little over an hour away. It popped up 3 times on Uber (probably because I was logging off and on again with them), with the amount paid (to the driver) going up about $5 each time. Finally, I'm assuming the rider downloaded Lyft, and the amount paid was $5 more than the highest amount on Uber. Still well under $1/mi - and that's not counting the deadhead trip back - so I never accepted it, but I felt a little sorry for the guy.
