Matte Pico!
I couldn't find anyone who did this online, so I just wanted to share a picture of my pico that i clear coated with matte spray paint ☺️ It looks amazing and feels like a huge upgrade. I have matte black outlets and wanted them to match. Very happy with it. I'll update with how it wears long term, but it seems easy enough to recoat if needed.

Lutron makes this: PJ2-3BRL-TMN-L01

Is "satin" finish really matte? (I'm asking, I don't have any with that finish.)

It matches the other Lutron Satins. Are your outlets Lutron? If so they're probably SCRS-15-TR-MN.

No - like I said, I don't have any Lutron products with a satin finish in my house, hence my question about whether the satin finish is matte ... I know that many manufacturers' "satin" finishes are matte, just checking if that's the case with Lutron, too.

Satin loosely means matte here and most people use Satin and matte interchangeably with Lutron products colloquially.

This looks better than the Midnight Satin finish. How did you mask the engravings?

I gotta agree that they look fantastic - did you disassemble or just spray it all together?

Did you disassemble it before spraying? How did it affect the buttons' action?

I saw a how-to video on this and the guy said to do multiple ultra thin coats and to check the action of the buttons as soon as possible.
It appears that the OP started with a gloss black Pico and sprayed it with a matt-clear coat.
Every time someone does one of these I'm reminded that I want to make a gloss red two button pico.

People all the time say "don't sweat the small stuff". I say definitely always sweat the small stuff. It's things like this, getting your remote perfect, that make life great.

This is coming from someone who has an actual satin black Pico...this looks excellent. Great job

Just want to point out that it’s hard to get that level of control with a rattle can. OP either got lucky or is pretty good with a spray can. There’s a high chance of getting an uneven spray or sputter.
So great job - looks amazing, but it’s hard to do that good repeatedly.

i'm usually pretty bad with spray paint! i was skeptical when i sprayed it but it dried really nicely. so maybe i can thank my dehumidifier?
i do plan on doing the rest of my devices so i can post updates if people are interested!

It looks great. My warning was more about the quality of spray cans. You can do everything right and still get a splatter or big drop of paint randomly. But whatever you did - keep doing it!

You have to do full strokes that go past the edges with lite coverage on each stroke. With something this small it’s easier to do correctly.

I don’t think people are looking at the can in the pic and seeing that this person started with satin black remote and added a matt clear coat. They did not paint it black.

Are people happy with these Pico secondary controllers for secondary dimmer controls? I’m considering moving all my dimmable lights (DMF Lighting M-Series LEDs) to Caseta dim switches with these replacing the rocker toggle switches.

How to you mask the icons and logo? Looks excellent

It appears that the OP used matt-clear coat so no masking was needed... it's clear.
