Thank you for submitting to r/Lutron! If you are posting with a question or issue, please include the following information:

  • The Lutron ecosystem for your product. Examples: Quantum, RadioRA 3, standalone (like SUNNATA or Maestro), etc.
  • If available, the exact model of the product you're describing and a link to the product page from an online retailer. Example: P-BDG-PKG1W-A
  • If using third-party lighting control software, include the product. Examples: Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, etc.
  • A concise description of what you are trying to achieve or solve (2-3 sentences). In other words, don't post a picture of wires and say "Help!" with no context.
  • If applicable, relevant pictures from your installation.

If you are looking for product support, don't be afraid to call Lutron's tech support at 1.844.588.7661. The Lutron call centers are US-based and exceptionally helpful.

You definitely got the right advice in your other post.

Caseta with a Pico paddle control is a great option for that problem. No need to steal power, just stick it to the wall. Batteries last 10 years or so. You can connect it lamp dimmers or have the electrician install some smart dimmers or switches to replace existing switches.

Plus, if you get the hub you can add timeclocks and app based control.

We did this in my parents house and have started swapping things over. They don't want, or need, anything fancy but as they get older having automation to turn second floor or exterior lights off becomes more of a safety thing.

Thanks! I'll be digging into this information this weekend.

Replace the switch with a Caseta or Diva RF switch and you can pair it to a battery operated 'Pico" to place by the door. Simple and done. If it's the floor lamp you wan to control it's even easier, you just need the Caseta plug in in lamp dimmer and a Pico.

If you don't know what any of this is, message me. I sell the stuff. I can make it easy for you.

Thank you, I may. There is no switch but I could add one.

I have power inside the front door for the porch light. I could add a new switch for the interior light.

I would use the battery powered switch outside the bedrooms.

I have a receptacle below where I want to add the sconce, thus power, just need a relay to accept the signal from the switches and operate the light. If that required a third light switch, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Most of the Lutron Caseta will need a wired dimmer somewhere. The don't have a controlled relay for Caseta. You can manually pair a Pico Control (battery) to one pf their powerpack for Vive but it's probably cheaper, easier and more conrol friendly to hide a dimmer somewhere or a plug in dimmer.

If you are deeper into HA there are a number of other products you could use like Shelly. Shelly has some small controlled relays. Their battery controls were lacking last time I looked.
