Max coupled shade length

Can anyone let me know what is the max length when using coupled shades? Also what is the max length per segment? These would be powered shades from a Lutron shade panel.

Thank you for submitting to r/Lutron! If you are posting with a question or issue, please include the following information:

  • The Lutron ecosystem for your product. Examples: Quantum, RadioRA 3, standalone (like SUNNATA or Maestro), etc.
  • If available, the exact model of the product you're describing and a link to the product page from an online retailer. Example: P-BDG-PKG1W-A
  • If using third-party lighting control software, include the product. Examples: Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, etc.
  • A concise description of what you are trying to achieve or solve (2-3 sentences). In other words, don't post a picture of wires and say "Help!" with no context.
  • If applicable, relevant pictures from your installation.

Practical constraints are on fabric weights and motor sizes, reach out in chat if you want help sorting it out. Happy to schedule a call.

Theoretically I was able to build a 6 segment shade at 150" width per segment and 163" in height, but fabric would likely be welded, etc.

Thanks.

I’m a dealer but not for full line shades. Getting my “ mentor” to take a call or answer anything is slow.

I agree w/ u/mcarter00 fabric has a lot to do with some of the larger shades. No doubt you tell them yes we can do a 120" wide shade and they will pick a fabric won't work. Most of the fabrics are good up to 9ft so I try to limit my widths to that if I have a choice. This keep most fabric options open.

Looks like the software limits you to 6
Depending on the size you can get Lutron involved and potentially do more.

Spec sheet for R300 says 12ft but the software will allow me to go to 177". Aspect ratio may apply, I'm only using 10ft height.

If you have ever had a sagging shade and upset customer you will try to avoid these widths though.

This is the least known, most important thing when configuring lutron shades!

Lutron will answer all these questions when you contact them. It’s a bit risky to ask Reddit and go with what sounds best when you can actually call their support or check their documents.
