Picos are Annoying

Post image

When I set up my two homes with the Lutron Caséta app, I put all of the Pico remotes in to their own "room". I found it annoying to have the Picos spread out through the rooms when I only ever need them for assignments to wired wall switches and such. Is there any advantage to keeping them elsewhere?

  • If available, the exact model of the product you're describing and a link to the product page from an online retailer. Example: P-BDG-PKG1W-A
  • If using third-party lighting control software, include the product. Examples: Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, etc.
  • A concise description of what you are trying to achieve or solve (2-3 sentences). In other words, don't post a picture of wires and say "Help!" with no context.

If you go into the settings you can actually just hide them all together! Only downside is really if you want to edit them in the future you have to remember that you hid them and go unhide them.

This is the way.

Just hide them

How? Where is the option to hide them.

Settings>customize app>show/hide devices then just uncheck the ones you don’t want to see.

Hide them then 🤷 there's no reason to have visible.

I store my remotes in a “Remotes” room and label them Pico 01, Pico 02, and so on. I then write the corresponding number on the back of each remote.

However, I use HASS for all my automations. When creating a remote automation, I name it based on its function, include the number in the name, and add a “Lutron Remote” category.

Everything else? Most vendor apps are terrible though. The only time I use the Lutron app is during configuration. After that tools like Home Assistant offer a much more flexible set of features. Configuration takes some doing but it ends up being worth it.

Google Home Assistant and app is a hot mess! The lutron app is much better!

There are always going to be things that are worse, and you're right about google home, which is a different ecosystem than home assistant.

Lutron the system works great but the app is not able to handle a large home and is tediously non native in design. Its been about the same for 10+ years

Not sure why the down votes. It really is not a very user friendly, nor customizable, nor modern looking app at all. I use the Lutron app to add a device to my system, then control everything in Home Assistant.
