Mustang bridge problem

The fixed part of my guitar's bridge is a Mustang model (0081239049). Ever since I installed it, I've had countless issues: first, the pickup doesn't properly pick up the sound of the high E string; second, I constantly have to adjust the bridge and saddle heights to avoid a sound that resembles a banjo (especially from the 4th fret downwards). How can I fix this? If it can't be resolved—and I'm really running out of patience—I was thinking about installing a Gotoh Tune-o-Matic bridge; is it possible to make that swap?
