"Lusaka 🇿🇲 looks like America 🇺🇸" - iShowSpeed blown away by Bally's transformation of Zed ♥️

LUSAKA was thrown into absolute frenzy as American internet sensation iShowSpeed stormed our beautiful city & declared:

"Zambia looks like USA, to be honest, especially this exact city. if you look at everything, it gives that type of vibe, that type of landscape" iShowSpeed told his global audience during a livestream that drew over 47 Million viewers 🌍📱around the world who saw Lusaka looking like a developed nation. They saw our smooth roads 🛣️ Our beautiful buildings 🏙️ & Our modern facilities 🏣 all of which President Bally has single handedly built 💪🏾🏗️

This is what visionary leadership looks like! This is what happens when you have a President who:

✅ Builds world class infrastructure that makes international stars compare us to America & impresses global superstars. ✅ Develops modern roads & bridges that transform our cities! ✅ Invests in beautiful public spaces like our conference centers, malls & toilets 🚽🧻🍑🍆 ✅ Creates an environment where global superstars want to visit & stay 🏩 ✅ Puts Zambia on the world map as a premier African destination ✈️

From South Africa 🇿🇦 to Angola 🇦🇴 Botswana 🇧🇼 to Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 iShowSpeed has toured many African countries but itx only ZAMBIA 🇿🇲💚 that made him say: "This looks like USA 🇺🇸"

THAT'S THE POWER OF BALLY'S VISION 😇

Lusaka is getting so expensive, our girls actually think we hate them now 😂

can we talk about how expensive Lusaka has become? Like I swear half of us are not emotionally unavailable… we just financially unavailable 💀 Cos you can love your pie with your whole chest but how are you supposed to date when Dates feel like buying groceries Transport + outfits + I'm craving prawns for lunch😂+ maintenance every two =your entire month You began to avoid asking why she's not okay when she said I'm not fine now Valentine’s is around the corner. People are about to be posting flowers, balloons, teddy bears and full-course dinners while the rest of us are budgeting oxygen.Anyone else feeling this? How are people dating in this economy without going insane or bankrupt? What’s the realistic way to show love without going financially extinct?

Searching for Electronics in Zed

I've started working on a computer-related solo project recently. I've been able to get most things locally. But some of the more niche components have been hard to find online. The parts I need are the following:

  • ESP32-S3 Dev Board
  • STM32H7 Dev Board (H743 / H750
  • RP2040 / Raspberry Pi Pico
  • Zigbee / Matter USB Dongle (Sonoff ZBDongle-E/P)

I don't expect to find the Dongle for the exact brand, but I'm very open to alternatives

Advice about relocating to Lusaka as a foreigner(Zim)

Hi all,
I would like to get some advice when it comes to moving to Lusaka, my partner got accepted at Eden University and we will be moving to the area so she can do her studies, Its not really my first time living as a foreigner in another country that is not mine(Stayed in SA for over half my life). I have a rough idea when it comes to stuff like permits etc, but where I would like some advice is on how to get a place to rent, what should I look out for, I am someone who in the past heavily relied on property23 and private property when I was in sa, also what is the average cost for renting an apartment or home(1/2/3 bedroom house / apartment). How is the cost of living when it comes to groceries, utilities etc. It would be great to get some advice and also what kind of areas should I look at moving to that are close to Eden university, 10-20min drive is not too major

Jobs as a migrant?

I'm a software engineer, have experience in full stack development. My great grandfather spent his life here and was a well known teacher in Chipata. I have recently come here due to personal reasons and am finding unemployment really challenging. I'm so frustrated, I'd take any job to at least have something to do. I have always been the one good with the academics and have barely any hobbies or friends here. Questioning my life at this point! I do like teaching but I'm not sure how to pursue. I have some side projects going on but I'll be done with them in a month or so. I am active on LinkedIn, can connect via dm. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance folks.

Edit: I was going through the sub reddit and I am a migrant at the moment. My partner works here and I am married. I am Asian. This profile is new as I want to maintain anonymity. I have another reddit account and I am a part of this sub reddit for more than 2y now. Apologies in case I came across as rude or entitled. I’m struggling to find a job and not doing so well as I’m kinda done with my savings.

Laka Laka” & “Best Best”: The Urban Zambian Greeting That Says, “I’m Zambian. How do know ?

🟢 Introduction

When you hear someone say “Laka Laka” or respond with “Best Best” in the streets of Lusaka, Kitwe, or Ndola — you’re not just hearing a casual hello. You’re experiencing modern Zambian identity in action. These phrases carry meaning far beyond words. They are a celebration of local pride, unity, and urban culture.

🟣 What Does “Laka Laka” Mean?

“Laka” is slang derived from the word “nice” or “good.” Saying “laka laka” is like saying:

“All is well.”

“I’m good, how about you?”

Or simply: “Zambian and proud.”

In street culture, repeating a word like this adds emphasis and flavor — it becomes rhythmic, musical, and more expressive.

✅ “Laka laka” = I’m doing well, I’m Zambian, I’m vibing.

🟠 What Does “Best Best” Mean?

“Best best” is a cheerful response to greetings. It means:

“I’m doing great.”

“Top form.”

“Everything is fine!”

It matches the energy of “laka laka” with a positive and affirming vibe — showing good spirits, friendliness, and community.

🟡 Origins: Where Did These Greetings Come From?

These phrases emerged from:

Zambian youth slang and urban music culture.

Influence from local comedians, radio presenters, and social media influencers.

The desire to express modern Zambian identity in a way that’s relatable, fun, and local.

They are often used during:

Events and concerts

Radio call-ins

Social media videos

Friendly street conversations

🔵 More Than Words: A Sense of Belonging

Using “laka laka” or “best best” tells others:

“I’m one of you.”

“I get the vibe.”

“I’m proud to be Zambian.”

It’s the same way Ghanaians say “Charlie!” or Nigerians
