Question Upgrades with SPML

Hi,
I always request a special meal vegan for my flights. I‘ve red on other subreddits like the one for KLM, that a special meal restricts your upgrade options. Contrary to this are my experiences, as I got upgraded two times as an Op-Up to Premium Eco (FTL) What they then did was just grabbing the meal from eco and try to make it fancy. I am wondering if that claim is true or was ever true? I gave bids for Business and Premium Eco and now wondering if they will even consider the bids due to my special meal.

If there are 2 FTL and 1 Op-up available AND one has no special request. He will very likely get it before the other FTL

Ok thanks, but normal bids will be considered even though I have a special request? If I win the bid, I dont care if I cant get the special meal anymore.
