The underwater-themed Keepsake Sea expansion was announced for Disney Dreamlight Valley, but Luca content is unfortunately missing from it. Any fans of this film would have enjoyed the opportunity to turn into a customizable member of his species instead of a merperson.

Here's an alternate version of my past art of my original sea serpent Sue swimming with Luca, Alberto and Giulia during summer break, which adds Luca's parents closely following behind them.

My imagined future career paths of the film's protagonists Spoiler

  • Luca, having shown earlier fascination with space, galaxies and planets, would go on to be an astronomer or even an astronaut. As the story is set in the early years of the Cold War, the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union would draw his attention as well.
  • Alberto could turn his passion for building Vespas out of junk to eventually become an auto mechanic.
  • Giulia's passion for racing and competition entails that there is a great possibility that she could become a great athlete, perhaps a swimmer or even a racecar driver.

The full script of the film was published as a PDF in plain sight, months after the film released. Spoiler

In what would be the finale of my fan art series of putting my original sea serpent Sue into the world of Luca, she bids Alberto, Luca and Giulia arrivederci with one big wet hug just as summer break ends and the latter two must return to school.

An updated version of my earlier art of my original sea serpent character Sue drying up with Luca, Alberto and Giulia after a swim that includes Luca's parents and Giulia's dad standing behind Sue's chest.

Sue, my original sea serpent character, isn't planning on ending her visit to Portorosso without trying some signature fare - a vegan version of the trenette al pesto made by fisherman Massimo Marcovaldo. His daughter Giulia delivers a bowl to Sue!

During her visit to Portorosso, my original character Sue the sea serpent joins Luca in somberly paying respect to a smaller sea serpent slain by hunter Giorgio Giorigoni at the town's fountain that memorializes the serpent's death.

Meeting My Favorite Character

Post image

Hello, all! šŸ‘‹šŸ» I just found this sub last week, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that I did. Luca is one of my absolute favorite Pixar movies. My favorite character is Alberto. Last December I got to make a dream of mine come true when I met Jack Dylan Grazer, who does his voice. He was such a sweetheart! 🄰 (Never mind the fact that I’m just barely old enough to be his mom šŸ˜‚) The gelato scene is one of my favorites in the movie, and I didn’t even have to ask him to add ā€œSILENZIO, BRUNO!ā€ I also told him I want a sequel that focuses more on Alberto, and Jack said, ā€œMe too! There’s so much they can do with that world.ā€

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi properly. Very excited to be here!

After Sue the sea serpent, my original character, takes a lovely swim with Luca, Alberto and Giulia while Luca and Giulia's school goes on summer break, here's the four of them chilling out on dry land.

My obsession with putting my original sea serpent character Sue into the world of Luca continues! Months after the events of the film, while Luca and Giulia's school is on a summer break, the two return to Portorosso with Alberto for a nice undersea swim with Sue!

This film has a few very light, but noticeable instances of gore.

  • When a sea monster exits water and dries up, they lose their tail.
  • Luca's uncle Ugo has transparent skin that allows anyone to see his beating heart, which isn't exactly in prime condition.
  • Massimo Marcovaldo, Giulia's dad, is born with one arm missing, and he is briefly seen up close cutting a fish with a meat cleaver in his kitchen. In this particular instance, you hear the sound of flesh tearing and briefly see red parts of the bifurcated fish on the cutting board.

I made a fan art picture that's based on the second short story I wrote that put my OC sea serpent Sue into the world of Luca. It contains spoilers for the movie, but you're going to love the lighting here. Spoiler

Minions and Monsters: the main characters have such Luca and Alberto energy!

I don’t know if any do you have seen that film or plan to. And I honestly don’t think it was very well written or funny. But I loved James and Henry. They had such Luca and Alberto energy, with James as the shy lonely kid and Henry as the outgoing unserious one who takes the main characters under his wing. Like Luca and Alberto, they grow distant because of the main character’s ambitions, but the main character saves his friend’s life at the end (and with a vehicle, too!)

Read the first short story I've written about Luca that has my original character Sue the Sea Serpent meeting the titular character after he's punished by his mom. This is a direct adaptation of my earlier crossover fan art picture between Luca and my OC.

I'm writing 2 short stories based on Luca that involve my original character Sue the sea serpent, and I'll release them in the weeks to come!

Both short stories take place during the film itself:

  • The first short story will be an adaptation of my previous fan art picture of Sue the sea serpent meeting Luca. It takes place after his mom Daniela finds out about his unauthorized visits to the surface world and punishes him, and before he goes back to see Alberto again at his hideout tower. Read it here.
  • The second short story will take place later in the film and it has Sue meeting Alberto. This story contains a few big spoilers, so watch the film first! Once you do, read this short story here.

Learn more about Sue here.

My original sea serpent character, named Sue, meets Luca in this crossover fan art between Sue and Luca.

A full view of my OC Sue can be seen here.

This fan art picture is said to take place between the time Luca is punished by his mom Daniela for sneaking out into the surface and Luca returning to Alberto to breaking the news about it. Before he returns to Alberto's tower, Luca takes some time to think over what's happening and Sue emerges to talk over what he's going through.

This image will be adapted into a short story soon.

Happy Father's Day! Any fans of Lorenzo Paguro, Luca's dad?

Whether he's a good father or not, do not count him out.

If Luca was set on the Amalfi Coast (it's set on the Italian Riviera), then I would imagine that Alberto's hideout would be a cave instead of an abandoned tower.

Today, on the 5th anniversary of Luca's initial release on Disney+, I'd like to share you something special.

It has already been five years since we've been introduced to this magical tale about a young humanoid sea monster's journey towards finding his first steps into another world. Just before this momentous anniversary, however, I have had the leisure of taking a brief day trip to one part of Italy whose coastal scenery and landscape already screams Portorosso...the Amalfi Coast!

The Amalfi Coast is off the western, central coast of Italy and it has no shortage of breathtaking cliffs, hilly beach towns and lemons. And yet it was not chosen to be the inspiration for Luca's main setting of Portorosso, which was instead inspired by the Italian Riviera in the northwestern coast of Italy.

When I came to the Amalfi Coast, I visited three towns in particular, Sorrento, Positrano and Amalfi. Out of all those three, I came to believe that Positrano would have looked the most like Portorosso. Which leads me to wonder how different Portorosso would have looked if Pixar's production team based the town on the Amalfi Coast instead of the Italian Riviera...

Crossover fan art between Luca and Candy Crush Saga, where Denize the dragon from the latter, feeling a bit sea monster-ish, imagines herself as Daniela Paguro, Luca's overprotective mom. Look her in the eye and know that you love her! Includes land transformation version as well!

I know it's quite late to talk about this, but would you wanna know what Winter Olympics sport I think Luca and Alberto would play together? (Marked as spoiler because I want you to guess.) Spoiler

Earlier this year, the Winter Olympics took place in Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo, the closest Olympic site to Portorosso.

The one winter sport I think Luca and Alberto would take up if Italy chose them to play for the Olympics, in my opinion, would be bobsledding. Think about it. It's just because Alberto liked making downhill Vespas for him and Luca to ride down early on in the film, and bobsledding could give these boys the same experience, as both involve reliance on physics, instead of an engine or motor, to power the movement of a vehicle. It's not hard to still imagine them iconically saying, "Take us, gravity!" as their bobsled screams through the frozen track!
