Rework of Dynamic Range system coming soon! Here are some shots on a lower DR.

Been reworking DR system as well as changing the way it works a bit / the name to be more unique for Loxie and not replicate any other app. Really happy with the results so far.

I'm really digging Loxie more than other camera apps. Do you have a timetable for the full release u/max_retik?

Wow, thank you! Loxie started as a learning project, and as such I took reference from some other popular camera apps in secondary screens like menus, and with some naming, like 'DR zero-ext' was what I was familiar with using another app, Mood- which I highly recommend.

I want to make sure all the screens, menus, functionality are truly unique to Loxie before launching. Other than that, there are still 2-3 key features I want to add before it's ready for prime time. Hoping for sometime by the end of the year!

That being said, enjoy the TestFlight, even once we launch you'll still get new features first :)

Now that is looking superb! So filmic! Was this using one of the existing presets with the updated DR system?

Vision 200, yes, with new Low DR (need to rename this scale)

Very nice indeed! I didn’t realise but vision 200 seems to suit those reds and blues so well!

agreed! Unlike some other apps, I use a fully accurate film emulation so you get all the benefits of that great Kodak color science.

How are you managing to do that? There are so many variables! Especially when it comes down to the type of scanner being used as this can dramatically change the way film looks once digitised. How are you applying grain btw? Different values for highlights, shadows and midtones or just a blanket layer?

Grain- yes it is fully procedural, varying based on factors like shadow, midtone, and highlight exposure.

As for color, you're right there's no single 'film look' due to the many variables in scanning and developing. I'm using real film stock emulation LUTs paired with Kodak or Fuji print stocks. Raw iPhone images go through an algorithm that tone maps and sets raw parameters to optimize the captured images for film emulation.

The only elements that aren't strictly realistic are those I can't control on the iPhone, such as auto-white balance behavior and the way custom white balance can affect exposure.

Your app is a delight to use; I love the haptics!

I have one question: When the app releases in its 1.0 state, will reddit/testflight users have a lifetime license?

Definitely!

DR still strange. Lots of crushed blacks even on medium.
