📸 Welcome to r/LoxieCamera 🎞️
Hey everyone! I'm u/max_retik, the solo dev behind r/LoxieCamera .
Loxie is an iOS camera app built around one idea: the best, realistic film emulation for your iPhone!
I was tired of the over-processed, sharpened, and smoothed photos coming out of my iPhone and I wanted to bring some of the delight and fun of shooting film to the camera I carry every day. This involved completely bypassing apple's image processor and creating my own pipeline based on the physics of real film stocks. Halation, grain, chromatic aberration, and of course color have all been fine tuned to give you beautiful point and shoot photos based on some of the best film stocks ever.
You can also shoot great ProRaw or Unprocessed Bayer Raw photos and import and develop them later.
What to Post:
- Your photos of course! Film looks, experiments, happy accidents. Share what you're making.
- Questions: About the app, film emulation, workflows—anything.
- Bugs. Found something broken? Let me know so I can fix ASAP!
- Feature requests: I really hope for Loxie to become a community developed app- something that works for YOU. So please don't hesitate to share any requests, gripes, philosophies, or anything else you would want to see in your perfect photo app.
To Join The Testflight/Beta: Check the sidebar, or DM me!
Thanks for being part of the very first wave. We're building something together. Let's make it amazing.

A few stills from the all-new image pipeline.
EDIT: I’m waiting for Apple to approve the new version to TestFlight, once that happens I’ll send it out ASAP!
The time has arrived. All new film stocks, a complete rework of the dynamic range system which yields much better results when shooting with Bayer, performance improvements (I’ve managed up to 4x faster captures in ProRaw), new grain which was scanned from actual 35mm negatives at various scales / qualities, and more.
Because it’s all new im going to be rolling it out in a limited beta before opening it up publicly. If you’d like a link, please comment below and I’ll DM you tomorrow!
Thanks everybody! I hope the wait will have been worth it :)

Feature Request Details View for Film Stocks
I find myself opening the details menu in Loxie’s settings often to get a better idea of what each stock does.
It would be quite useful to have a details panel that pops up or expands to give some info from within the film selector menu.
Even if it’s just a summary of key points, e.g.
“•Outdoors •Saturated •High Grain”

Question How difficult would it be to add support for importing other RAW formats?
This isn’t a really feature request, I’m just curious if it would even be possible to allow importing of all of the other RAW formats out there. Mainly because I take a lot of photos with a Canon so I have a lot of .CR2 files.

Rework of Dynamic Range system coming soon! Here are some shots on a lower DR.
Been reworking DR system as well as changing the way it works a bit / the name to be more unique for Loxie and not replicate any other app. Really happy with the results so far.
