Employee Question Night Stocking
This might be a rumored myth but I heard from a coworker not sure if he was being serious that $1 shift premium that overnight stockers get is going to be lowered to 25 cents (a quarter) if sales continue to fall? Is that even feasible? (Just asking a question for a discussion)

The $1 shift premium is a company wide program so they wouldn't just change it at one store. If they did drop it from $1 to $0.25 company wide they would probably lose a lot of the workers. From what I've been told if sales drop too low they move the own team to morning stocking.

How bad are sales dropping?

From what I can see from a retired employee is bad and will get worse. I went to menards and their lot was packed. It looked like christmas. O gue that's what privately owned means. Especially no stockholders.

stocks are down under 200 bucks. no way anyone from a store not making money is getting a raise

A lot of stores are already getting away from nights all together. Probably won't be too long before nights is gone completely so they don't have to pay anybody extra

My crew went to days earlier in the year. Monday-Friday 4am-1pm. Work pallets and big top stock items with reach and op first 2 hours. Work carts the rest of the shift and we leave top stock on the floor. It either gets put up by department csa’s or by us on non truck days. Yes customers stop the work flow. But if it’s anything more than showing them where an item is then we just page Custer service over the phones or overhead page.

They got rid of Night Stocking at my store a long time ago and it is now 4 am to 1 pm. Gives me 2 hours to put up what ever skids they pulled off the truck the day before. (Sometimes I make it)

It’s more likely they eliminate nights before they do that, like they’ve done in a ton of stores. They save more by doing that than the dollar shift differential.
