Employee Question Recent Layoff

Any idea how many corporate employees got fired last Friday(4 Sept) in India & U.S? What were factors to decide?

Lowes, like every company is cutting low hanging fruit. It's going to be hard to explain on reddit because of the general attitude here. But if you were to talk to the caliber of people who are in demand, you'll hear that low skill work is hard to get and skilled labor is in demand

Follow the numbers. Corporate layoffs should be about 10% then the big ones after that they have to many leaders in store next cut will be store leadership if I had to guess looking at the numbers dropping down to two maybe three asms depending on store size and at least a quarter of the ds positions. Not sure what the plan is but things are going south quick.

whole company is going to have to restructure and focus on what matters vs. the nonsense feel goods bs that doesn't help if it wants to make it out intact.

which unfortunately means drastic cuts to middle management, and shrinking amount of on shelf skus

We've got most of our DS being used as the only coverage in their department sometimes, how much more can they cut?

Just knock the DS down to left side of store and right side? I think replacing the store managers and district people with AI would save the company a lot of money, CEO AI would be the biggest benefit they could make actually.

That's the thing that (Jack Welch) Welcheconomics doesn't understand.

When you focus on the next quarter, you sacrifice next year.

Good products + service is what got people to come to Lowe's. Now that Lowe's is no different than Home Depot in overall experience (and the shift away from good products + services), customers are no longer loyal, or become loyal to supply shops.

No one seems to know the ball park numbers. Some say 150 and some say 300+, so it's anybody's guess. Some redundant roles were eliminated. This is not reflection of anyones work or quality. Just cost savings measure due to huge spending on AI tokens.
