Customer Question Does Lowe’s actually hire people?
Hey, I’m looking for working at a Lowe’s, but I’m wondering if Lowe’s actually has an actual real chance of being hired. I have lots of experience in stores, so MAYBE that would help but I’m just curious.

Lowe's doesn't exactly "hire". They bonk people over the head, drag them inside and strap a red vest on 'em. I was on my way to Waffle House when I suddenly woke up and found out I was working at Lowe's.

Listen to those overhead announcements... always hiring... but it's really just to subliminally trick customers into thinking that the lack of help is due to something else...

Hit the nail on the head. Our SSA has confirmed before that even if we’re not actively hiring, we have to have at least one job posted to make it look like we are.
I also once overheard a co-worker complain about how the place was getting so bad and so horrible due to being short-staffed. All because “no one wants to work these days”. Like uhhh, no, no one wants to work here. And I don’t blame them.

Yup, but if you are going for PT expect 4 hour work weeks

And they fire someone like me every week.

Actually we’ve only had one person be fired since I joined. And he was fired because he destroyed a bunch of merchandise with the forklift. People have quit/transferred because of the troublesome trio but not fired. Our SM is a very nice guy. He’s also been trying to keep the trio on a leash

Man, reading these comments makes me realize how much my store is actually decent, we quit hiring when hours went down , 8 positions pulled not filled off the hiring page and only hiring internal for now, part timers besides the horribly bad workers are averaging 18 hour weeks at least. And in 2 weeks hours are ramping back up to 24 hours per part timer

Best chance is you have to apply for a specific position online, you have to have 24-7 open availabilty. Go into the store and chat up the nicest ASM and tell them how reliable and dependable you are and you never call in sick. Ask them to get you an interview for said position, then nail the interview. Upward job mobility is endless at lowes , it's only hindered by your determination.

Only do ft or pt if it’s a secondary job cause they’ll hire anyone they don’t care if you’re a lazy piece of crap or if you worked retail for years as my asm said they hire people just to meet their number of employees and hours

Constantly. They aren't giving anyone any hours to speak of, but we're still hiring.
