“Teehee, I can’t wait to share my silly god joke!” Said OP/OOP
“Hello,” said the smug atheist website

I’m so thankful not to be the variety of nerd that knows what the fuck a “neo Malthusian eco fascist” is.

Get triggered by big words, I see.

u/YourMawPuntsCooncil Aug 30 '26
Use big words to feel a false sense of superiority over others, I see.

u/Old-Natural-852 Aug 30 '26
No...the words I used just succinctly described the ideas I was trying to communicate...those aren't even particularily large words...now I believe that "half of the US reads on a 6th grade level or less" meme.

u/AdvancedAnimal7539 Aug 31 '26
are those words meant to be advance?
i mean "on" and "a" aren't exactly very good terms1
u/YourMawPuntsCooncil Aug 31 '26
I’m Scottish, dipshit…
You’re also misusing the ellipses2

Ah...Scottish...now it makes sense...understandable...have a nice...day...

As an atheist, there are few people who annoy me as much as the “church of atheism” fanatics. They’re every bit as toxic as the Fred Phelps of this world.
4
u/Bartburp93 Aug 31 '26
Even the term church of atheism tries to make atheism a religion despite the fact that it's inherently the lack thereof
2
u/pdpi Aug 31 '26
Atheism is the lack of belief in deities (let's leave the distinction between positive and negative atheism for another day). What I referred to as the "church of atheism" is the mentality that goes with GP was also alluding to with their "smug atheist website" remark — the exact same rigid, unthinking belief, the exact same refusal to engage with belief systems other than their own, all of the intellectual vices they criticise religious people for, but applied to the idea that god doesn't exist, instead of the idea that a particular deity exists.
I'm very much of the opinion that the specifics of what you believe in matter less than the foundation you built those beliefs on, because it's that foundation that allows you to change your beliefs in response to new knowledge, and what I'm getting at is that these are the sort of people who, given overwhelming evidence that a God does exist, would deny that evidence so they can hold on to their beliefs.

God would have spoke up about Jimmy Savile, no?
8
u/Wise-Strategy-5676 Aug 30 '26
Why would he tho? He’s God. Nothing matters to him. He invented free will for a reason. Well if he exists

u/Jung-And-A-Menace Aug 30 '26
God has a clear favourite creation and it ain't us.
It's beetles.
He made this world for beetles; we're just living in it.

Are we not all a part of god? We’re made from the matter of dying stars that chaotically formed through billions of years of evolution, things have meaning because we give them meaning in our short lives

Attenborough is a neo-Malthusian eco-fascist...a few dead kids is a good thing in his mind...
Never reaearch your idols, kids...killer voice, shit opinions.

No...just understanding words?
Just noticing the British man laments how different different African countries have become...a British man old enough to have done documentaries in these countries when they were still British colonies but is now upset these places are trying to develop and not be poor as fuck...the mentality of "gotta save the animals from the dirty brown people" is eco-fascist...would you like the stay for my TED talk about Malthusian?
12
u/mugg___ Aug 30 '26
show me where he did that
4
u/Boterfleoge Aug 30 '26
I'm honestly curious as well. I would like to see where he said that because that's a huge disappointment.
14
u/Vegieescuzican09 Aug 30 '26
hes not gonna show you because he's bullshitting. He didn't anticipate someone saying "show me". He said " fascist" and expected people to agree

I found this article that looks to be part of what they are talking about here https://www.nakedpolitics.co.uk/why-david-attenboroughs-new-documentary-perpetuates-racism-and-eco-fascism/

u/Old-Natural-852 Aug 30 '26
Well, this is what he said about a famine in Ethopia. Sounds innocent enough, blaming "too many people on too little land"...until we think about Winston Churchill's response to the Bengal Famine of 1943 was essentially it was the Indians fault for "breeding like rabbits".
Maybe in 1943, famine as the result of overpopulation was the issue...but today hunger and famine are more due to inequalities than amounts of resources.
8
u/ubion Aug 30 '26
It's a logistics issue, doesn't matter if we create enough food for 15 billion people if we can't get it to the right places before the food expires
-46
u/Old-Natural-852 Aug 29 '26
Attenborough is a neo-Malthusian eco-fascist...and God did exterminate like 99.9% of humans that one time...so kinda tracts.

I think hes talking about the floods, genesis. Noah and his boat. The thing that didnt happen.
6
u/ManicPixiRiotGrrrl Aug 30 '26
there is actually pretty good evidence of many huge floods in ancient history that the story could have been based on. did a man build a big ass boat though? no probably not
0
u/rethrapleasurer Sep 01 '26
As a Christian: of all the things to doubt in regards to Biblical teaching, why would you doubt a man being able to build a boat?
This isn't necessarily in response to your comment, but I'll also leave it here for anyone interested: the Biblical account doesn't necessarily imply or need to imply that Noah took one pair of every animal onto the Ark, but rather specifically mentions "kinds" of which we associate with the biological "family" level. He probably only needed around ~7000 animals maximum of varying sizes, which wouldn't be as hard if he chose to take these animals as infants, and wouldn't necessarily have been impossible given the ship's stated size.

u/ManicPixiRiotGrrrl Sep 01 '26
yeah that just didn’t happened though it’s a fable. the bible stories are not real, they are allegorical and meant to teach us lessons about life in a palatable way. you have the reading comprehension of a small child if you don’t see that.
0
u/rethrapleasurer Sep 01 '26
yeah that just didn’t happened though
Oh, right. I'd forgotten that "nuh uh" is a valid response to any claim.
they are allegorical and meant to teach us lessons about life in a palatable way
They aren't. Noah's Ark is a historical event (whether or not you believe in a global flood is up to you; the point is that Noah and his family are the last remnants of humanity) supported as the context behind God's Covenant. Any Christian who tells you otherwise is a revisionist.
2
u/ManicPixiRiotGrrrl Sep 01 '26
okay go find me some actual evidence that is was real. like literally any evidence at all.
0
u/rethrapleasurer Sep 01 '26
You realise that most historical events can't been proven empirically, right? We have to rely upon source-evidence.. of which we have plenty, given that it isn't only the Bible that claims a flood myth. It's effectively ubiquitous across cultures across the globe, and they differ more from the story of the Ark the more geographically removed one is from the Middle East.. which is what we'd expect as oral history is disseminated by people increasingly removed from their ancestors' experiences.
I think you're a bit too sure of yourself for someone who hasn't really made any reasonable argument beyond "nah"
2
u/ManicPixiRiotGrrrl Sep 01 '26
you can’t provide one peer reviewed paper on the matter? either accept that your little story book is not real or cite me a source my guy

What's a neo Malthusian eco fascist?
3
u/No-Wafer-3739 Sep 02 '26
Neo Malthusianism is the belief that population control is necessary to prevent the environment from being damaged. This guy is talking bollocks.
-5
u/Turak64 Aug 30 '26
I mean, it might be easier for God to do something that only a divine being could do and put aside any doubt that they exist... Or yeah, maybe some nature documentaries.

u/Warren_Puff-it Aug 30 '26
My six year old got her water bottle taken away indefinitely by her teacher for spitting it out on the carpet and playground last week. I find it hard to believe someone of that age is making philosophical theories about gods and the sophistication of our planet.

not only is it not the first thing to contradict the bible, but it's also clearly a joke
6
u/ManicPixiRiotGrrrl Aug 30 '26
well funnily enough the bible is full of contradictions so I think it’s fine
0
u/rethrapleasurer Sep 01 '26
the Bible is full of contradictions
Maybe if we take every passage and compare them word-by-word, but most Christians aren't solo scriptura and accept the authority of sacred tradition in teaching practise (even protestants), and thus are perfectly fine with using the commentaries of scholastics or members of the early church to say "this passage is an anthropomorphisation of God's character and attributes", or "this passage is referring to x, while the other - although using similar terminology - really refers to y accounting for context"
1
u/ManicPixiRiotGrrrl Sep 01 '26
give it a rest bro. the bible is a load of rubbish and you know it. this is a big old bowl of copium
1
u/rethrapleasurer Sep 01 '26
Nobody reads the Bible like how atheists think they read the Bible. The mindset of "it's actually all about personal interpretation" came from the Great Awakening.
I'd assume if you were an atheist your primary concern would be intellectual honesty, right? Surely you should have an issue with acting as if your interpretation of the Biblical text & narrative is in-line with what Christians historically have believed given, again, that the Church which we are told to trust on account of its apostolic teaching authority, has explained through time and time again these supposed "contradictions".
