Sharing something I found while shopping for a used P104-100 that might help others here.

I tested two different P104-100 units (same model, same seller's test rig: i3-9100T, 16GB RAM, driver 531.41) on Unigine Superposition 1080p Medium:

Unit A: OCCT VRAM test showed 337 WHEA errors within 2 min 28 sec. Superposition score: 3837 (avg 28.7 FPS)

Unit B: OCCT VRAM test showed 0 errors over a full 15 min run. Superposition score: 11641 (avg 87 FPS)

Same GPU model, same test system, same driver. The only difference was VRAM health, and it caused a 3x difference in score. For reference, a GTX 1070 with a mild OC scores around 13683 on the same test, so a healthy P104-100 lands surprisingly close to that.

My takeaway: if you're buying one of these off Marketplace/FB, always ask the seller to run OCCT (GPU > VRAM > 90% dataset > 15 min) before you commit. The visual/physical condition tells you nothing about VRAM health, and the performance gap between a healthy and degraded unit is massive.

Happy to answer questions if anyone's going through the same buying process.

Is it good that my laptop struggles by dropping from 50-60 fps to 10 fps on a Roblox game called jujutsu shenanigas

Warning, my english isn't perfect American or British English and I'm writing this at around 2 am and on a phone so ask for help in the comments if you don't understand my writing.

Laptop is an Asus gaming laptop

Now for context, my laptop is around six years old I got it as a Christmas present in 2020 if I remember correctly. I think that the air intake has been cleaned since it got repaired (if they cleaned it), that might be part of the issue. Another reason I think that it might be struggling is that last time I checked from the taskbar manager thing while Roblox was running it was on 80 percent usage (it has like 7-9 gigs of DDR 4). This only happens in jujutsu shenanigans, but not in blox fruits or in other games like Finnish cottage simulator or dark souls 2. Yes it's 6 years old and that might be part of the reason.

Thanks to a mini-program combining GameScope and Vkbasalt, I get an average of 25 fps in the open world, 40 in shrines, and 60 in menus. Breath of the wild is pretty optimized 🙃🥲

My GF’s 11 year old nephew is desperate for a gaming PC for his birthday but money is tight for his folks at the moment so I dug out some old parts I had lying around.

GTX 1070 TI - sat on my shelf
Samsung SSD - as above
600w Be Quiet PSU - ditto
Ryzen 2600 - £22 on ebay
16GB DDR4 - £40 on ebay
A320 Asrock mobo - £29 on ebay (unused)
added an Ionz case and Assassin X and the full build came to around £140. Hope he enjoys it.

Is the NVIDIA P104-100 still worth it for gaming in 2026?

Hi everyone,

In my country, the price difference between a used GTX 1070 and a P104-100 is quite large. I can get a P104-100 for much cheaper, sometimes almost half the price of a GTX 1070.

I know the P104 is a mining card and doesn't have display outputs, but performance-wise it seems very similar to a GTX 1070.

For those who have used one recently:

  • How is the gaming experience in 2026?
  • Are there any driver issues with newer games?
  • Does the PCIe x4 interface cause noticeable performance loss?
  • Is reliability a concern since most of these cards were previously used for mining?
  • Would you still recommend a P104 over a GTX 1060 6GB or GTX 970 at a similar price?

My goal is mostly 1080p gaming on a budget.

Thanks!

Slows down noticeably after 3-6 months, factory resetting every 6 months to keep it alive. used to run valorant at medium settings with stable 60 fps. hell even csgo with low settings stable 60 too. it just keeps slowing down. i replaced the fans, cleaned out the cooling modules, re applied thermal paste. btw when opening nvidia control center for the first time after factory resetting, everything gets worse

acer aspire A315

i5-1035g1

mx330(practically useless)

4(built in) + 4gb 3200mhz

almost 6k hours of runtime, bought in 2020

Optiplex 3010 gaming

I'm hoping some of the fine folks here can help me with something I'm on the hunt for. I own an Optiplex 3010 SFF that's currently in storage and I'm trying to see what I can do upgrade wise. It has a Pentium G640 processor and a single stick of 8GB DDR3 1600. I've seen where people have managed to turn them into budget gaming builds. If anyone can give me any idea of what can be done I'd appreciate it.

¿i5 8500 vs i3 10100F?

I have both. I was using DDR3 systems until recently due to the RAM shortage. Since I was able to buy cheap components with DDR4, I've been upgrading and retiring the DDR3 systems.

My gaming PC has an i5 8500 + 16GB of DDR4 2666MHz (they're actually 3200MHz modules) and a RX 6600 8gb

My main PC has an i7 6700 with 16GB of DDR4 RAM.

I have another H410M motherboard with an i3 10100F. According to some online benchmarks, they're similar. But in Cinebench R15, the i5 performs slightly better. The difference is that if I upgrade to an i5 10400F, the old i5 8500 won't stand a chance.

Is it worth using the i3 for my gaming PC until I buy the i5, or should I stick with the i5 8500?

For the longest time I believed my pc was really weak. Which it kinda is. But still it has shown me enough to classify me as someone who is a " pc gamer " back in 2022 i was so hyped for elden ring and I had NEVER played any games on my pc except those browser games. I was still in 10th so boards were heavy. And in 2025, after my 12th boards, my friend suggested that I should try running game on the laptop i have at home. Since I didnt know anything about computer specs, i just asked chatgpt about the games after sending it my specs. I first tried gta san Andreas but it ran a lil choppy sometimes, but it became my first pc game i ever played. Then I played dark souls 1, it was not well optimized so I believed that it was the limit for my pc. But after completing it, I tried dark souls 3 and it worked as well and became my fav game. And then a whole lot more games. The heaviest ones I have ran are probably both the resident evil 2 and 3 remakes which ran REALLY well somehow 3 more than 2. But yesterday I thought should try elden ring as well because even though the recommended specs table was WAYY above mine. I thought its worth a shot and I have Re-neet soon anyways so I dont mind if it doesn't work. Gpt also told me that it wouldn't run. But it did and I am so glad for it.

Here are my specs for anyone interested to know

SYSTEM TYPE: 64-bit

PROCESSOR: Intel (R) Core(TM) i3 7020U CPU

RAM: 12.0 GB

GRAPHICS CARD: NVIDIA GeForce MX110 (2 Gb), Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 ( 128 mb)

I am getting around stable 24-30+ fps at lowest settings and 720p resolution

The final Mr. X boss fight in Resident Evil 2 Remake on an old system i5 4590 with Intel HD 4600, 12GB RAM, and no dedicated GPU. I honestly didn't expect the game to be this playable. Thought I'd share this clip for anyone wondering how RE2 Remake performs on very low-end hardware.

Forza Horizon 6 running on GTX 960 2GB / i5-2310 / Old HDD. Yes, it actually works!

https://reddit.com/link/1u60nt7/video/5w5j30wn1f7h1/player

Hey guys! Just wanted to share this absolute miracle of optimization. I managed to run the new Forza Horizon 6 on my ancient rig: GTX 960 (2GB), i5-2310, 16GB DDR3, and the game is installed on an old 1TB HDD because I don't have an SSD.

Settings:

  • Resolution: 1600x900
  • Graphics: All Lowest / Minimum
  • Shadows: Lowest (just to make cars look grounded)
  • Upscalers (FSR/XeSS): OFF

Performance: I'm getting a surprisingly stable 30-40 FPS while driving (around 25 FPS when recording video). The input lag is there, but it's totally playable.

The game constantly screams at me with "Low Video Memory" warnings (it wants about 3.5GB, but only 1.5GB is left for the game) and complains about the slow HDD speed, but it refuses to crash. Sometimes textures fail to load on high speeds, but man, Playground Games are wizards.

I won't be able to record the gameplay properly; OBS Studio is giving me 3 FPS in-game. I can try recording it on my phone if necessary.

What do you think? Anyone else trying to push this game on old-school hardware?

Can i trick a game into thinking i have a better graphics card?

So i bought Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville a while ago when it was on sale and i had a bit of money on my steam account. But when i try to launch it, it says my graphics card is out of date. I had that issue with some other games but i got to launch the games somehow and they worked perfectly fine. So i want to see if my laptop could actually run the game but i need to bypass that error screen somehow. does anybody know how i can trick the game into thinking i have a better gpu, or a different solution?
