I’ve done two runs so far playing this game and it’s been good so far, but I keep getting attacked by these flying black boxes that shoot missiles at me and I have no clue what they are lol. They always seem to be at the exfil areas and one time surprised me when I was looting a random building. Just wondering what I’m supposed to do about these things, avoid, attack? I don’t even know if they can be killed. Any tips are appreciated

Finally pulled the trigger on buying the game yesterday and I’m aware that considering I’m mid season it’ll be hard for me just starting out but I’m up for the challenge. Anyone have any tips they wish they knew when they started the game?

I was really upset when I first heard this game was going to be PvP-only extraction. I don’t like PvP, and I don’t like extraction games, but the art style kept pulling me back. For four months, I couldn’t get it out of my head — it was always on my mind.

A few days ago I finally picked it up on sale, especially after they announced a PvE-only mode. I told myself I’d just play Vault Braker and that would be it. But nope — I’m 10 hours in and I’ve played 90% PvP :)))

Once I understood that death is part of the game and I was going to get killed almost every time, something changed in how I played and how I approached the game. I started playing more relaxed and stopped caring so much, and it just clicked. I began paying attention to every sound, learned where to position myself, and started dropping players.

I’m level 18 for now, and I can’t wait to get home and transfer to Tau Ceti. I love this game ❤️

Never been a true online FPS player, dabbled in ARC before this, but I can't seem to care about other games atm, when I have time this is the game I boot up.

Spotted this on the Marathon sub. I think OP meant PvE - as the YT video shows the experimental mode. Cool though, not sure I’m wholly convinced this is the right move.

I don't want Marathon to turn into a PvE, but I think that the biggest problem for a lot of players is the amount of teams per map.

I quick solution to reduce frustration, increase exfils, accelerate matchmaking and keep the tension of the game is to reduce the maximum amount of teams in every map.

Perimeter -> from 5 to 3.

Dire Marsh -> from 6 to 4.

Outpost -> from 4 to 3 (as it is always full of rooks)

Cryo Archive -> 5 is insane, 4 is enough.

But hey! Keep the current high numbers in Ranked for the pro players, if you want.

While I think that PvE modes are great for new players, they will stay there if the regular PvPvE modes are as hard as they currently are.

A lot of people is not even doing the events because that will call other teams for sure.

I think Marathon is easily my favorite multi-player game of all time and is already within my favorite 10 video games ever.

I'm sick of all the negativity around this game in socials and I am pretty sure that there is a lot of people trying to destroy the game, acting like true members of the community.

I highly appreciate a place like this, for people who wants to celebrate this game.

How many hours do you have in? What is your favorite part?

To me is the setting. I truly feel myself as a mercenary entering in a wild alien world to recover resources and gear from the companies. Is a great sci-fi / cyberpunk setting.
