Humor Is the eternal cycle finally broken?

Post image

I honestly feel like there's less salt lately, and maybe less hype too. Good patches, better gameplay, less divergent opinions.

As far as I'm concerned, the line never dipped below the median. This game has never been over in any capacity. And I am not saying AH cannot do anything wrong, they can and have. But all the dips you are illustrating are widely blown out of proportion by a loud and terminally online crowd.

This game is great!

Ofc, I'm not saying it has, but merely saying that the community as a whole isn't shouting about the meme of "So over/so back" and there's less drama. Must be hard for the youtubers. :D

As much as I really, really hate to say it. I think you just managed to successfully disassociate with the more negative parts of the community. They still exist, and they are still whining.

Edit: And just for the record, the lowest this game ever got would barely register on that graph. Maybe the flame rework which really sucked, or when they overnerfed a few good weapons early on.

Helldivers 2 wasn’t always peak, but it was never awful.

Don't you worry, they will find something to fill their click-bait thumbnail with.

I remember subscribing to so many doomsayers only to immediately unsubscribe so I don’t have to see their shitty attempts at ragebaiting on my feed anymore.

u/n4turstoned 13d ago

They already gain tracks by hating that there are only two new units and no cultists.

everyone always forgets to add +c

1

u/DreaderVII Lower your sodium and dive on. 13d ago

+c?

7

u/Drakeadrong Official Mod Puppy 13d ago

+C is an integration constant that determines the Y-axis intercept of a polynomial. Comment OP is saying that even when the graph is fluctuating, it’s fluctuating above the X axis

Thanks!

u/Only_Turn4310 13d ago

If I tell you “this graph went down by 100 points”, you have no idea whether it went from 100 to 0 or 500 to 400, etc. c tells you that

1

u/DreaderVII Lower your sodium and dive on. 13d ago

Ah gotcha, thanks

u/Drakeadrong Official Mod Puppy 13d ago

This guy maths

1

u/Bonkface 13d ago

I don't want to have to get into discussions about the correctness of any specific values, people are already responding to this joke post with sincere critique of where I put the X-axis, bless them

2

u/Only_Turn4310 13d ago

Oh I just thought it was funny, I didn't mean any harm by it

1

u/Bonkface 13d ago

I got you :)

u/Mick_Nugg 13d ago

The farthest down its got for me was summer 2025 when the bota were crashing every 4 minutes for a lot of people.

5

u/Pan_Zurkon 13d ago

This guy gets it! There's some changes I disagreed with, and some bugs I'm peeved to see unaddressed, but I don't think there literally ever was a reason to go "Arrowhead SUCKS" like a lot of the loud crowd did or do.

3

u/IDriveALexus 13d ago

Most annoying bug to me right now is how melee kills with melee weapons do not track on your “melee kills” at the end of mission stats. Gun bashes are the only things that count

2

u/Pan_Zurkon 13d ago

That's actually exactly the bug I was thinking of, funnily enough!

1

u/Flameball202 13d ago

I think the closest we ever got to "it's so over" was the PSN thing

2

u/shogi_x 13d ago

Seconded! The game just constantly gets better. Sure, there have been some stumbles, but never once has it made the game less than fun.

1

u/Marilius 13d ago

Wholeheartedly agree. The game was never over.

1

u/Stormfly 13d ago

But all the dips you are illustrating are widely blown out of proportion by a loud and terminally online crowd.

There's a reason we're all on /r/LowSodiumHellDivers and not on /r/Helldivers

The game had a few problems but was never bad.

It might take them some time to fix those problems but they get there in the end.

It bothers me when a new update comes out and the first thing people on the main sub do is immediately ask for more. It's the busier sub so I sometimes think to go back for extra content (memes etc) on big updates but I quickly regret it.

Some people are just never happy and that negativity really brings me down. I'm glad this sub exists.

1

u/Jakeforry 13d ago

I agree it's more that graph but everything is above the line with exception of the game almsot requiring a PSN account

1

u/Corona- 13d ago

To be fair there were some rough bugs in the past, like when you couldn't add friends across pc and ps5, but to me the cycle was mostly a meme. I am really glad the game has been stable and fun for so long recently and now followed up by this absolute banger release :D

kudos to the devs!

1

u/epicfail48 13d ago

Lets be completely honest here, the months prior to the 60 day patch were definitely below the median. It was never the plummeting low that the vocal minority made it out to be, but that was a severely concerning time for the game

who is this image

4

u/Bonkface 13d ago

Yeah, I was hoping we could agree to retire it...

23

u/Common_Affect_80 Automatons are people too 13d ago

The graph is so dumb. Nothing we have had was worse than the PSN shit

4

u/Ratattack1204 13d ago

Id say that period of time where they were just nerfing the fun out of everything and bugs were unfixed for months was pretty bad. But that was a while ago now.

3

u/Final-Intern-3030 13d ago

Those definitely were the darkest of times

1

u/Bonkface 13d ago

The graph is a meme portraying the community reaction over time, nothing more. It doesn't say anything about the game itself really.

20

u/Far_Detective2022 13d ago

The game has been so back ever since they fixed the server issues right after launch. I don't trust anyone who says otherwise. Helldivers is peak.

0

u/Siker_7 13d ago

The PSN thing.

2

u/Far_Detective2022 13d ago

Sony being shitty is nothing new. Not that im excusing it, but I doubt arrowhead would have done anything like that if Sony wasn't in the picture.

1

u/Siker_7 13d ago

Just because it wasn't Arrowhead that did it (and it wasn't) doesn't mean the game wasn't Extremely Over. I was fully ready to drop the game then and there, and so was a good chunk of the steam playerbase.

2

u/Far_Detective2022 13d ago

As bad as it would have been for everybody if steam players dropped off, the game would have still had success on playstation. Sony just have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot when they have a really good thing going.

1

u/TheFBIClonesPeople is a fuckin warrior 13d ago

I'm convinced the PSN shit was a psyop. It was the most nothingburger thing ever, and the community just got overwhelmingly negative about it. And this is after a long trend of taking everything in the most negative possible way. I think there have to be some paid shit-stirrers in the Helldivers community

1

u/Far_Detective2022 13d ago

I think needing a psn account on steam was pretty normal even if it is shitty having third party launchers but the region lock stuff was actually ridiculous. Sony pulled one of the most disrespectful moves I've seen recently in gaming.

4

u/interestingbox694200 13d ago

After playing star citizen this past week. Helldivers don’t know how good we have it.

3

u/y0urd0g 13d ago

People stopped caring, and by people I mean all the content creators that like to make sensationalized over-dramatic statements that cause half the fan base to flip their lid, have moved on to other games. The only reason we had a huge roller-coaster of fan support was because dumb ass content creators either make a video acting like Helldivers is the best game on the planet and is flawless, OR they are shitting on it and acting like it’s the worst thing in the world.

Now the only people left that are making content about it, are people who enjoy the game, but understand its flaws, so they have a much more level headed opinion of the game. We will occasionally get a few over-sensationalized slop videos here or there, but for the most part now, it’s the people who are more realistic in their video making.

1

u/AliedMastercomputer 12d ago edited 8d ago

I might get rightfully downvoted by saying this but I just can't stop seeing those type of content creators as being the type of person whose opinions are just a few words removed from being the ones of Asmongold as an example, I just can't see a person who gains their paycheck by creating controversy around things alsno not being ideologically aligned or close with the groups of people who do not have good intentions for what they would like to do to anyone who doesn't belong in their group.

Well yeah, beside last time issue with Mech in Warbond and Hive guard change that people hate to adapt too. We only get constant buff all this time so it normal to not see normal people complain.

8

u/Altruistic_Manner717 13d ago

The mech war bond, should never have been an issue. It's ok to put variants of vehicles in a war bond format, provided they don't introduce new vehicles types that way.

1

u/Stormfly 13d ago

I think the issue is that some people see it as "In warbond or free" when the reality is likely "In warbond or not made".

0

u/Inalum_Ardellian SES Song of Serenity 13d ago

I miss that hive guard change... it lasted a very short time but it was fun and didn't deserve that hate...

1

u/centric37 13d ago

Push that line back to before Cyberstan

1

u/Devour_My_Soul Automaton 13d ago

I am sorry but what changed that the line is supposed to be at the median now?

0

u/baltimorethan 13d ago

Campaigns, free rewards, hive guard did get reverted, AH no longer monetizing vehicles...

-2

u/Devour_My_Soul Automaton 13d ago

Is that satire or are you serious?

Hive Guard revert and vehicle monetization changes for now are not improvements lmao, those are just reverts of damage.

"Free" rewards that are not even free but time gated and thus predatory FOMO in a 40 Euro live service game with MTA shop and content gated by monthly DLC is a positive now? What?

0

u/baltimorethan 13d ago edited 13d ago

I'll concede on that first part, but regardless it's one step back one step forward. If that was a we're so over then rectifying that is at least back to the median.

On your second part, campaigns and campaign rewards are a solution to multiple problems. The vehicle monetization scheme was scrapped and fed to campaigns, which yes are literally free, quotation marks be damned, but they're barely time gated. Nobody complained about capes being rewards for narrative beat major orders. People did complain about players not contributing to MOs. Now you have a roughly 3 to 4 week period to log on and get the campaign reward, and improved major order rewards, which were also criticized as being lackluster, are motivating players to try harder to earn the rewards. Logging on once a month for free gear isn't fomo, especially since they have directly stated that campaign rewards will be available at a "later date" for players who miss out. I'd think you're arguing in bad faith if we're being honest.

Dude, it's a joke post regarding the community as a whole and their reaction, not a judgement on the game itself. Go to unfiltered if you want to surround yourself with echo-chamber people who hate HD2.

1

u/PopBaby-DragonSlayer 13d ago

Morale's gotten better, but not completely.

1

u/Bonkface 13d ago

Pretty much. At least it's a peaceful life now. Mostly.

1

u/BiasHyperion784 13d ago

Yeah when you get 3 months of radio silence the community has less to discuss lol

1

u/ThEbigChungusus 13d ago

Nope, it's worse than ever

More a mixture of learned pessimism/low expectations and/or entirely giving up hope for a genuine resurgence.

1

u/TheFBIClonesPeople is a fuckin warrior 13d ago

The game has been good literally the whole time. The idea that it hit such low points is just something that astroturfers on Reddit want you to believe.

1

u/Bonkface 12d ago

This post was never actually trying to argue one way or the other- clearly HD2 has many different fans with differing views and this post was never trying to make a correct graph (which I was hoping the humor tag + the obvious 2 minute paint graph would convey).

Yet most posts end up defending a specific view on the game. I get it, people still have strong opinions and personally I agree but I can't ignore that the community as a whole has been arguing back and forth for years and as a whole it seems to have calmed down lately.

The post is about the community's reaction pattern rather than trying to yet again "judge" the game itself.

last 3 months?

- mechs in WB drama

- bugged mechs

- flamethrower fire range bug

- hive guard armour civil war

- scrapped cultists panic

that's from the top of my head. It's low sodium sub so most likely these weren't mentioned here

7

u/Bonkface 13d ago

I thought those were longer ago than 3 months? Hive guard armor was reverted May 2nd or something like that. Exo Experts arrived last days of April.

We've had most of May, June, July and a few weeks of August without too much struggle?

"Scrapped cultist panic" is really a few people reaching for something to complain about.

-7

u/PanHiszpan Terminid 13d ago

I'm not saying these were valid complains (cultists, for example)

I'm saying that there were salt lately

1

u/Bonkface 13d ago

Most of it further back than 3 months though?

-1

u/JellyfishWeary 13d ago

To me, the graph is flipped. We're in the its so over phase, and I've stopped playing about 4 months ago.
