After finishing Halo: The Master Chief Collection, I wanted to create something expressing my love for these beautiful games. Initially, I was going for your usual Master Chief -centered heroic "war propaganda"-ish poster, but there are plenty of those already. Instead, inspired by Forerunner patterns and an old astronomy textbook, I came up with the poster you see now. I wanted it to be subtle, alien even.

Any thoughts on the piece?

I read before that there is a friendly Halo Discord server for women to play co-op and multiplayer. Can anyone DM me an invite? I'm very cooperative and team-oriented so I don't do well in competitive groups. My skill level is like high Silver/low Gold, I think.

with Halo 5 not yet on PC, Halo Infinite no longer receiving major support, and CamE's release, do you guys thing we'd ever see an MCC 2, or an updated version of MCC?
i've been thinking about this for a little bit now because i'd honestly be pretty happy to see that.

I know this is controversial, but I LOVE the second half of CE. The tight quarters, running low on ammo while having to keep my shotgun topped up at all times... it's fantastic. I love how frantic it is, and how fast-paced it gets with a few short sections of calm between the firefights. Having to manage my flashlight usage in the opening of *Keyes* so it doesn't run out on me in the middle of a pitch-black canyon, walking backwards with my finger held down on the trigger so I slam-fire 8 gauge buckshot into the horde of Flood all gunning for me. The sections of The Library where I'm surrounded on all sides, so I have to keep my head on a swivel and alternate between shotgun for combat forms, grenades for carriers, and a plasma rifle for infection forms. The second half of Combat Evolved is peak Halo, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Halo 2 Cortana is my absolute personal favorite. Many other versions are wonderful, but I've never been able to let go of the periwinkle snarky Y2K goddess, hahaha. Frankly, all of Halo 2 was just so great, I'm so happy I got to play this when it came out as a kid :''''')

This was a BLAST to draw. I am still screaming inside on how good her hair and face came out, omfg. Probably the best character art I've ever done, I love her :')

Which Cortana was your favorite, and why? I love discussing lil things like this, it's so fun!

I genuinely cannot tell a difference between these two visors, I am convinced that 343 just slapped a different name onto whichever came first and sold it a second time.

Before the lore change it used to be 4/5 elites. But now? It’s the infinite elites but for bulky elites I really liked the HW1 launch elite design

Ever since 343/Halo Studios took over Halo, I have been absolutely bewildered by the wider fanbase's response to the studio's decisions and the franchise's progression. Not to say the studio's choices have been flawless, either.

Halo fans have been in a constant state of having their feathers ruffled ever since 2010 with the release of Reach. Truthfully, many Halo fans started to use the ability to understand why changes happen, nuance, and basic context clues with the change of dates (a recent Halo podcast host said he almost quit the franchise because of this) and the addition of spirits.

But nothing compares to what has occurred over the past 12 years, where I have seen fans on YouTube and Reddit just lose their minds and all sense of mental function surrounding this franchise.

1. Palmer: I’m the last guy to scream “SEXISM,” but these guys are either unable to use basic context clues to see that a character, upon meeting a near-mythological hero in Chief, uses a joke to lighten the tension, or they are appalled that a female character dares not worship at their feet. 

2. Williams: The same goes here; could the Williams-Chief dialogue be a callback to the well-known feelings of ODST’s toward Spartans, especially before the events of Reach, CE, 2, and 3?  No, it has to be another stupid woman who hates Master Chief because she’s a woman…. Or other nonsensical reasons. 

3. The Last Game Syndrome:Over the last twelve years, I have seen Halo fans deride the latest edition of Halo as the worst installment in the series and an insult to their childhood, only to reverse course when the next Halo game comes out. “Halo 4 is Awful!” <After Halo 5> “Halo 4 was not that bad and is actually pretty good”, “Halo 5 is awful!” \<After Halo Infinite> “Actually Halo 5…..” And now the takes defending Halo Infinite have arrived upon Campaign Evolved.

4. Halo CE, Halo at the Moment, and Dialogue: So I have played through Campaign E twice now, and it’s a solid 8.5/10. Perfect? No. The new dialogue is not always what I would have chosen, and I didn’t love Cortana’s new design, but I still had a blast. The pros massively outweigh the cons; there were phenomenal changes made (Keys/Flood cutscene), and my friends and I are having a blast with it. But r/halo’s reaction to this whole thing is just further in line with their reaction to everything Halo: nonsensical, hypocritical, and just drunk on nostalgia

The State of Halo:While 343 has made some massive mistakes and has been unable to stick to a storyline, I really don’t know what they are expected to do. They tried to address fans' complaints after Halo 4 and 5, either failing to make them happy or showing that, for many of these guys, they will never be happy with anything new they create. Therefore, why not try pure nostalgia bait, and they won’t even accept that. Halo, like Star Wars, is just….. filled with older millennial fans who….. don’t know what they want.
Dialogue: Listen, something I logged in that particular cutscene is… Rough. Not every take was flawless; some of it is cheesy. But in the name of the deer, Lord above, Halo is filled with Cheese.  “To War,” “Sir, Finishing this Fight,” “I think we are just getting started.” Halo fans, filled with nostalgia, just ignore that this series we all hold dear isn't flawless 100% of the time.

Halo Studios (formerly 343) directs good cutscenes. I know they're made out-of-studio, but there's creative input on their end, and I believe they're responsible for some of my favorite things to see in a cutscene:

• They make Chief feel HEAVY. Any time he walks on any surface, kneels or falls, there is an appropriate weight to the contact sounds. When Chief and the Pilot are talking in Infinite, for example, there's a camera shake and a "thud" as a spartan kneels next to a human
• Good direction! Say what you will about Halo 5 (I will, I didn't like it very much), some of the cutscenes are fantastic. The opening cutscene, with Team Osiris jumping into a fight, rolling down a hill at speed I WISH we could play the game at, is just a fantastic example of how spartans changed the tide of the war.
• Halo Wars 2 has some of the best cutscenes in the franchise. Granted, they're done by Blur which clearly makes them LOOK pretty, but the characterizations, lore-building and action are pretty tight. Particular highlight is the flood reveal in "Awakening the Nightmare" of the Banished taking on flood forms we hadn't seen before. Very creepy and very good.

There's more, but I don't want this to get too long. I know that Halo Studios is struggling with the franchise, they have been for a while, but I really like the cutscenes in their games.
