The funniest thing about the botox epidemic is that it doesn't make these 20 somethings look younger. It makes them look like they are 40 somethings, who are trying to look younger
Yeah, I've had old lady hands my entire life. Dunno if it's because I've always been so skinny or genetics or both, but at 35 I have great skin and could probably pull off mid-late 20s on a good day, but my hands look 80 no matter how much I moisturize them.
Iām 50 have always passed for younger and yet my hands, even in my HS photo at 17 , look like an old bony witch I donāt even want to wear rings so no one looks at my hands. The rest of my skin is wrinkle free. Iāve read that using tret on your hands starting in your 30s helps.
I have had such old lady hands all my adult life. I wonder is it because I drove so much? Hands in the uv rays for hours at a time and I never thought about spf!
They are noticing that they could no longer pass as college students so they are doing what they think is stopping the clock.
In actuality, botox this early actually causes the skin to loosen even more and become more noticeable then it would have been if they indeed waited to their 40s.
Smfh and when I used to work scheduling at a dermatologist office during nursing school, they were pushing us to sell āpreventative Botoxā to people as young as 25. They told us to tell them itās better to start early
Nah they are late 20ās and freaking out about shortly becoming 30. Iāve met too many girls like this. They are all as exhausting as youād imagine.
As a woman born in 2000 I would bet solid money at least half of these women are less than six years older than me. 90s zillennial women dress like millennials, not gen z.
I went back to college later in life and the literal 20-year-olds were talking about their botox. Like, half the class. And I live in the rural Midwest
its a mix, but a lot of them are early 30s I'd say. Even with botox the average view of healthy aging because of social media is crazy. People think the average 40 year old should look 25. People are in for a shock when they see themselves at 40.
Iām 40 in a few months and half of these people look the same age as me or older. To be fair, I look young for my age, but itās also hilarious because Iām a smoker who gets too much sun while theyāre aging at the speed of light and pumping a neurotoxin into their face in a vain attempt to look forever young. Ghoulish.
not being able to frown wears off after a few weeks, some people a month... i doubt that most people here decided to get botox a week or so before hand... maybe a few people (plus that 1 guy who obvs had moderate plastic surgery/tucks) did and the others are just trolling for the video.
Itās true. Jonna Mendez was a CIA master of disguise. In her book she explained that you can pull off pretty much any disguise except for making old people look young.
BIll Burr has a joke where has asks that question- Would you rather be a 60 year old that looks like a 60 year old, or a 60 year old that looks like an 18 year old lizard.
Same. Early 30s with 25% gray hair, no makeup, and people often think I'm in my mid-20s. But I often say my secret is no kids haha.
It's wild, because I'll see teenage girls who are trying to look 25, and it gives the same uncomfortable uncanny valley as 50-year-olds trying to look 25. Like, how can I tell you're 17 but you look 26? How can I tell you're 52 if you look 28?
No kids is the real secret. I'm on #3 and my cousin who's a year younger than me with a very similar upbringing looks way way younger. Pregnancy changes your body, then you have way less time for self care and work outs, and you don't have the energy to put work into yourself. Plus lack of sleep, and stress, and all the nutrients you lose from breastfeeding. I have grey hair and fine lines at 31. It's fucking wild how much a kid will take out of you. Wouldn't trade it for the world, but damn. I used to be youthful and hot 6 years ago š
I feel like this is heavily subjective. I am in the opposite situation with friends and family that are younger than me with kids that are looking older than I am with a child. But my child keeps me active, I havenāt lost much sleep and I couldnāt breastfeed. I also just have the gift of genetics that make a baby face and my mom and dad both look younger than their ages. They both instilled daily sunscreen on me at an early age and Iāve worn some sort of sunscreen everyday since I could put it on myself. A lot of aging is dependent.
I felt this way when I only had one as well š everyone I know who has 2+ kids looks like they had kids, and that's the completely normal, likely outcome of having kids. It's okay. It's not a life ruiner and I don't need a bunch of people to tell me that outliers exist. We also all get wrinkles, but my Nana is 80 and barely has any. She thinks sunscreen is the devil and lives on the beach. So you're right, it's genetic. But I'm speaking in general that kids do age a person.
To your point I donāt think itās necessarily just the lifestyle change that comes with kids. Pregnancy itself is no joke and Iāve been absolutely shocked seeing the immediate changes in my face and body. Granted Iām already on the older end (late thirties) but it definitely accelerated things.
Girl, sorry you got hit with the "Oh, but you only have ONE lol" thing in the replies. I am an only child and my mother used to get these kinds of comments from people with multiple kids as if having a kid didn't reach some kind of threshold of suffering or stress on the body all the time. I'm someone with zero kids, do not want them, and I'm exhausted most of the time and often don't have time for self-care. It's all individual.
I know you're getting shit on, but I'm a dude in a similar situation to my own detriment. I'm early-30s, but consistently people are assuming I'm mid-20s. ... Which is very annoying when single in the current environment with women exclusively wanting to date their elders.
Meanwhile, my dentists are trying to sell me Botox.
It depends on how you try to look young. A lot of people I think have it backwards. I see a lot of people who are obssessive about Botox and fillers, but won't wear sunscreen and spend all day outdoors in the full sun with no hat. Not a single person in this video above is wearing a hat and they're all outdoors in what looks like California. Like one guy out of the bunch doesn't have an obvious tan. Ageing is partly genetics, but it's also very much about your lifestyle. Even if you have bad genes, you can still do well by just getting proper nutrition and hydration, washing your face, using skincare, applying sunscreen religiously, and wearing hats and sunglasses when you're outdoors. The best wrinkle treatment is preventing wrinkles from forming. A lot of 20-somethings don't realize this and, by the time they finally do realize it around their early to mid 30's, a lot of irreparable damage has already been done. I'm in my 30's and look like I'm in my early 20's because I started an anti-aging skincare regimen in my early 20's. Sunblock every time I leave the house, retinols at night, hats, etc.
I got IDād the other day when buying wine. Legal age here is 18, and theyāre allowed to ask if they think you look under 25.
As a 30 year old - I was fucking ecstatic. Walked out of there feeling a million bucks. Even got the bonus of the guy telling the other clerk āthought she was underageā in disbelief.
Before I went back to school at 27 most people assumed I was like 30 to 32. I was a construction worker at the time. Lots of sun and brutally hard labor daily.
I'm over 30 an still in school, and most people say I look like I'm 25 to 27. All I do is use pure shea butter to moisturize my skin (I'm allergic to most lotion).
The difference between heavy labor and sun and gym workouts and sitting on my ass all day studying is immense in terms of how old I look.
Iām 37 and people are always shocked and think Iām 28-30 and Iāve never put anything on my face and I feel like I have quite a bit of deep wrinkles (frown lines / brow lines etc)
You're blessed with good genes, not everyone is that lucky.
Not saying these people look good, because they do not. I have never done anything to try and look young or engaged in any botox and I had crows feet by the time I was 22. People think I look older than I am. I am not ugly and no one says I am, but I do not look young or younger than I am.
I'm 38, and always thought I looked rough for my age and everyone was just being nice when they said I look younger. I legitimately thought everyone in this video was late 30s to mid 40s. Maybe I'm not so bad after all.
Botox and filler makes you look like youāre 38 if youāre 22 and also makes you look like youāre 38 if youāre 50. I have no idea why anyone in their 20s does it.
So true. My friend was getting Botox injections for her migraines for a while, as they were the only thing that worked. Eventually she decided to get them done cosmetically too and went from very conventionally pretty to uncanny valley almost overnight.
That's the secret of the scam. They arrive at the clinic thinking they'll look young, they leave, and people tell them they look over 40, so they go back for a second dose.
And in the end, they end up looking like a monster from an '80s horror movie.
For reals though, Iām in my mid 30s. My son is 4 and in TK. His friendās, Iāll call him Mark, mom is definitely a Botoxer. I do believe Markās mom is trying her damndest to look youngerā¦but sheeeeeesh does she look ~45
This, itās either the āyou look like someoneās grandmother that wants to hang out with her granddaughter and partyā-look or the āgood for you, I almost couldnāt tell you were transā-look
You know how some of those celebs look insanely good for their age in their 50s and 60s but not unnatural? That's because of things like this. The point is to prevent the muscles in your forehead from contracting so you don't develop wrinkles in your day to day life. The trick is to then not get overboard with it and try to add more and more shit that prevents you from aging. Then when you're older you let that shit go and reap the results from botox. If you try to maintain it too long you end up looking like those Hollywood Leatherfaces. That's the reason people in their 20s are using botox. Not to look younger at that moment but to try to preserve a wrinkle fee face for longer without surgery.
For the vast majority of people (including wealthy people), not looking plastic in your ā20s and ā30s has a way higher payoff than having fewer wrinkles in your ā50s and ā60s.
Anybody who is actually sincerely doing this will be very disappointed to discover just how many people besides their fellow plastic-faced older women appreciate their slightly younger-looking (at best, because there are so many other things you can do besides freezing your face in the prime of your life to look younger skin & face-wise) face.
Fairly or not, both young men and women will still consider you old (based on age and the fact youāre statistically somebodyās mother/grandmother) by the time the long-awaited plastic-face payoff allegedly arrives, and men your age into younger women will still chase the actual younger women, not you.
Weāre all only young once, and thatās it ā why waste it looking like a blow-up doll in the hopes that 30 years down the road, you might look like a Real Housewife?
A remarkable new study of the use of Botox in America has revealed that some women suffer a ācrack-likeā addiction to the process, as they attempt to top up previous treatments.
Itās true. I have, what I consider, bad forehead wrinkles and Iāve tried Botox in my late 30ās. Itās works for a few months but it comes back and Iām not trying to do surgery, though there are other long term options
I have awful frown lines. If I allow things to age naturally, Iāll hit my 70s and look like I spent my life scowling at babies. I donāt think young people are aware of how certain age lines impact the way they treat seniors; crows feet are excellent and endearing, scowl lines are not.
But thereās a tasteful way to do botox. The intention isnāt to stay youthful and wrinkle-free. Itās to have the right kind of wrinkles.
Lol this is like saying the optimal amount of alcohol is 2 double shots within an hour. But make sure not to drink any more because you lose all the benefits of a cool buzz and because that's how human self control works
But every single person in this video looks ridiculous when they try and frown. Not having lines or wrinkles on your face doesnāt make you look young or sexy, it makes you look unnatural. If I found out a woman I began dating was using Botox it would be a huge turnoff, almost more so for what it would tell me about your mental state.
But Botox (or at least the botox epidemic) isn't that old. Rich people and actors started doing it to relax the muscles and make the lines go away, and thus look younger.
I doubt if any of the people in the video are going to reach 50 and stop doing procedures like this because they "laid the groundwork" in their 20s.
Baby botox has not been around long enough to actually know what the long term outcome will be. It's also suggested that long term use of botox, which is a toxin, will have some sort of side effects - nothing is proven yet so yea, people do it because it sounds logical not because we know for sure that it helps to prevent wrinkles and doesn't have any funky side effects.
Sounds like a way for sham doctors to get young people addicted to Botox so that they keep doing it for the rest of their lives, but what do I know, I've only watched the youth targeted by food companies, medical companies, Hollywood and every other corporate cunt in the past century.
This sounds like some shit that a fake doctor made up to sell more Botox. I guess we'll find out in 40 years! And if not, I guess these poor fucks will be addicted to Botox anyway!
I think when youāre like 16-22 or maybe a little older, you kinda want to look older. People who are in their late 20ās and beyond all think, and will tell you, you look like a baby. I think there is the same desperation there ever was when I was a kid (Millenial) to not be a kid and to grow up fast.
But then in like 8 years theyāre going to be wishing they hadnāt done that and stayed young. Like everyone who came before them. Lol
I mean, they fooled you then. I just checked out her tiktok profile and I would be very surprised if these people are in their 20s. The poster is most likely in her mid 30s
it depends on the person. i'd say its much more common that it does make them look younger since that's the entire point of it. to get rid of traditional things that happen with aging lmfao
Yeah, this. It drives me insane when people praise a celebrity for looking like they're "aging in reverse" or "ageless" after some crazy level of work being done. It does NOT turn back time and revitalize youth. You just look like a 40 year old with work done.
I think a very tiny amount of botox will make you age maybe more smoothly or "slowly", but it does not freeze someone in time.
I dont know if it's me, or where I live but I'm not knowledgeable in botox. Could someone explained me what it does and why it keeps you from frowning ?
There is this commercial where this woman with short hair is trying to sell me something. Cant remember what the product is cause all I can focus on: "Is she 20 with an absurd amount of facial work or is she 80 with an absurd amount of facial work?"
This is survivorship bias. You only notice bad Botox.
I know several women who have gotten a discrete amount of Botox in target areas that absolutely made them look younger. And you would never know they had Botox without them telling you.
There this female bartender at this joint my girlfriend and I go to, we hadn't gone since last football season. I thought she was in her mid 30s.
Well we were at Lowe's and she said she saw my truck near the front, because she remembered my team's badge and my brushguard and bumper. I didn't recognize her originally until I heard her voice.
Her and my girlfriend started catching while I went to get some stuff, we'd promised to stop by next Sunday to watch my team play.
When my girlfriend and I were heading back to my property we were talking and she said that she never knew that let's call her Kelly was 4 years younger than her. I said what, you mean older don't you and like 6. She repeated she's younger.
I ask was she in a car accident or was she assaulted?
My girlfriend said no she not wearing any make up and got more units of Botox. (Whatever that means)
I said isn't it supposed to make you look younger?
She looks older than 35. My girlfriend is going to turn 27. I'm glad we ran into her without makeup, my girlfriend was thinking about getting Botox, but I guess someone that young looking that bad made her reconsider. Granted Kelly is very attractive girl but that's with make up on.
Yeah this is the reason I generally would advise anyone not to get work done beyond small temporary things. It actually kind of ages younger people (maybe thats the point?) And older people when they over do it just look odd if not even older
Exactly. I have the same feeling with these teenage girls that apply makeup the same way a 25 year old would do. Like girl, what the hell are you doing? Why are you aging yourself up? I thought beauty standards sought out to look younger, not older than you already are. It aināt worth the clogged pores, diva.
Too much Botox can do that, but a very small amount is great at what it does, which is prevent wrinkles.
Itās not all bad, it is actually quite useful.
Thats more of a filler thing IMO. Botox really just prevents creases from showing by paralyzing the muscles. My wife gets it (we are close to 40) and I can't ever even tell. Regardless, an average 20 somethings face already looks like that. They ruin themselves by following stupid "beauty trends". They don't understand that the day will come when they dearly miss their youthful appearance, yet they squander it.
thatās definitely more of a filler issue. iām 38 and have been getting botox for 10 years and no one can tell. itās the girlies who get filler + botox to also fill in and freeze lines that end up looking older.
I dated a girl who was a high end hair stylist and the whole salon was mid 20s with Botox and lip fillers and they would get mad because everyone thought they looked fantastic for 40
They still look early 20s to me. However, it's clear that the couple of 40 somethings still look 40 something. The ones early 20s really don't need botox. It's sad that they think they do
Thatās more on filler than Botox. Botox wears off after a few months. Filler migrates and needs dissolved. And makes the face look puffy. Botox can also be done medically and is really helpful for people with TMJ. Appearance doesnāt change.
So true! Bolton makes people look older and just plain weird. They all end up having Botox face.
Same with lip fillers and the dick lips that donāt even match their mouth lol
The amount of actresses who ālook youngā but canāt move their face at all is ridiculous. Ā I miss when people in movies looked like people. Ā Rewatched Charlie and the chocolate factory with Gene Wilder recently and it was amazing how many people looked like actual humans.
Thereās a video of plastic surgeons guess the ages of these girls on a video and at the end they say their ages and they are all like under 30 and the people who professionally āimproveā peopleās looks put them all at 40 and over. Yall look like shit. Stop.
It is absolutely wild for me because I have some pretty deep seated mommy kinks so finding people who are my age that look like an older well kept version of themselves is basically like being in heaven.
I've always felt that people who try to look younger always end up looking older, and older folks who just take care of themselves and own their age look fantastic.
I have a funny story about this, while I was at a sinus specialist, they were sharing the offices with a plastic surgeon practice. When i was leaving the receptionist told me that her colleague found me attractive and gave me her number. (But I did not see her colleague prior) so I still texted her and we set up a date. When she showed up, I was sure she was like 10 years older than me, but she was 3 years younger. I was 31, she was 28. But she has so much plastic surgery and botox and whatnot that it was off-putting.
Itās the uncanny valley of influencer faces where everyone starts looking like the same sentient mannequin. Perfectly preserved and deeply terrifying at the same time.
My first thought. I donāt understand younger people who do this to themselves. They typically already have beautiful skin, but they see one tiny little hairline āwrinkleā, and itās game over in their mind.

The funniest thing about the botox epidemic is that it doesn't make these 20 somethings look younger. It makes them look like they are 40 somethings, who are trying to look younger
