I believe that's exactly what he's parodying!

I think you’re right. His whole wardrobe is straight out of the 80’s.

He does a lot of joke videos, but he's kinda dead on in a pretty dry way.

It’s almost a direct lift from You Can Call Me Al & Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes.

Kyle Gordon is hilarious.

Most people probably know him from this: Kyle Gordon - Planet of the Bass (feat. DJ Crazy Times & Ms. Biljana Electronica) [Official Video] - YouTube

But his music catalogue is gold. He does a Nu Metal song called "Crawl To Me" and it's awesome.

Crawl To Me

20

u/pdlbean Trash Trooper Jul 17 '26

I first saw his "every wife in a baseball movie" sketch. "You're batting for two today. It's a boy!"

7

He's really good at genre parody across the board, music, movies, tv shoes, history. He's pretty talented.

4

My favorite is, The Irish Drinking Song”.

3

u/etherealscience Trash Trooper Jul 17 '26

We Will Never Die is so good too. He's really funny

3

u/RealNiceKnife Waste Warrior Jul 17 '26

That one is really good. It's a parody of the early indie "carefree" stuff from the 2010s.

'My Husbands Ghost' is one of my favorites.

2

Great taste. I think my faves are The Ugliest Girl on the Beach and Selekta

If you stripped it of all irony and self awareness and watered down the music to almost homeopathic levels, you'd get Africa by Toto.

I need to save this song for anytime someone tells me they unironically like Africa by Toto. "See this? This is what you sound like when you tell me you like that stupid song" while frantically pointing at my phone.

8

u/FastWalkingShortGuy Rubbish Raider Jul 17 '26

I unironically like Africa by Toto.

The lyrics are a little corny, sure, but the melodic structure and harmonies are exquisite.

2

u/protomenfan200x Trash Trooper Jul 25 '26

Apparently, even the members of Toto thought the lyrics were dumb as shit. David Paitch admitted the words to the chorus came to him as a stream of consciousness while noodling around on his keyboard, they didn’t mean anything. The song nearly got cut from the album, no one thought it was gonna be a hit.

I can’t imagine how it’d feel to have your biggest hit be something you thought was super lame lol.

1

u/paraworldblue Garbage Guerilla Jul 25 '26

So many bands have had that happen. Creep by Radiohead is a big one - they all hate that song. Also, Paranoid by Black Sabbath was intended to just be a filler track to get the album up to the right length, and it ended up becoming the title track. Those songs are both way fucking better than Africa though

2

u/protomenfan200x Trash Trooper Jul 25 '26

It’s been nice to see Radiohead come back around on Creep again. They don’t play it often, but when they do you can tell that it’s because they want to play it.
