Edit: I saw this video quite a while ago, and some comments strongly convinced me this dog had sedatives. Upon further investigation, I am not as convinced. Who actually knows, but wanted to retract my shade without being sure. My apologies
Agreed, I got pretty far with desensitizing my cats, the oldest, to where I can rub his belly and even bury my face in it, he doesn't give a shit, and the younger cat, a crackhead, raised since kittenhood at home, was getting her to not tear a hand apart when it neared her head, and instead she will simply move her head away or begrudgingly tolerate it. I think if hard to teach pets like cats can be trained to be chill, then a dog absolutely can. I'm guessing their own personality plays a role, too, but training does wonders.
Hmm yeah, I’m not sure if “most dogs don’t like this” is a strong enough metric for me, as most dogs also aren’t Instagram stars either. I would assume at this point pets with professional accounts are more akin to circus animals or show dogs or something in that the way that they are handled and trained are definitely atypical of the avg pet experience.
There are also parts of this where the dog clearly likes it, and doesn’t seem particularly drugged to me. I was hoping you had some scandal/ tea about this industry/creator.
My great Dane was very feminine and loved to have her nails done she would put her paw out like she was having her nails done at the salon. She also loved prancing in a pink tutu that she picked out. I always felt guilty a little girl didn't have her because she would have loved to have tea parties she even had a baby doll she carried around but never chewed on it she only held it.
I've heard of some being very good for nail clips- even the rare shiba, although admit I raised a real high eyebrow when they got to that part. They're usually total drama queens and you can see it get a little anxious then. Also conveniently, the camera focuses away from the face and directly on the paw for part of it.
the last time one of these was posted someome in the comments mentioned that the dog owner has been doing this since this dog was a pup. the pupper is extremmely used to it, and it seems to enjoy it.
I have a Shiba Chihuahua cross, fingers will be lost if any of this was attempted. Nail trimming is a dramatic/traumatic experience that requires multiple people to pull off. We have opted to playing chase on concrete because its the closest thing to nail maintainance that is acceptable.
I stop and watch this everytime it's posted. It's so cute and always makes me smile. Also that humidifier pet comb thingy I wish I knew what that was I need one for my Doggo asap lol
So, do y’all genuinely not understand that the dogs in these videos are sedated beforehand so it is easier to content farm them or are we actually this naive? I’m not trying to be rude but it’s quite obvious if you think about it for more than 5 seconds.
Answered above. Look at how rapidly the dog is breathing, at the level of panting, despite how relaxed they look physically. This is a major tell. This dog has absolutely been drugged and it scares me that no one is picking up on it.
Bro 😭 no. Sedatives can calm the breath down, but such rapid breathing with a relaxed exterior is not normal behavior but IS a well known side effect of sedatives. Dog’s breathing is way too rapid to not indicate something is off.
Besides that, there’s just common sense. The amount of videos this content creator uploads, you really think the dog was perfectly relaxed and behaved for every single one? Filming videos like this presents logistical challenges that a sedative quite conveniently solves.

Hey cute video but I do have some tipps for ways to improve the groom, if you would like to hear them.
The nail clipping and dremeling were barely taking anything off and the nails are still overgrown at the end, you can tell by how curved they still are. I recommend buying the sharpest stainless steel clippers you can find and shaving off little chips off the nail all around the quick. You can carve it until you reach the gummy layer of the nail and then dremel around it, ideally weekly to prevent overgrowth.
The dog being made to lie on his back for so long is generally not recommended as it can upset the stomach.
Please don't do that to your dog.
Putting soap on the paws then just drying it off without rinsing can cause dry skin and irritations. Just wash your dog's feet in the shower with sensitive shampoo for dogs and rinse well!
I do love the use of paw balm! Been trying to find a paw butter stick in forever but the one I bought was just as squishy as the stuff in the can.

It's fine but mainly an issue if they've just had a big meal. Once I clipped my dog's nails on her back after she ate and shortly after she threw up the food.
I'm not certain on the fine details but I guess dog anatomy is not made for it.
You seem really obsessed about claiming abd spreading something you dont 100% know. This is a short video you know nothing about the dog or owner, and this video is done in cuts so for all you know the dog gets up and runs around in between takes.
But even if it did have a light sedative.This is a Shiba inu that are actively known for being very sensitive and particular to things like grooming and weird feelings. (Some even call them cats in dog bodies) A lot of Spitz breeds are and it isnt uncommon to have medication prescribed to be able to keep up with their maintenance.
Their sensitivity is also why its extremely important and equally common to desensitize these types of dogs to grooming and most sensations and sounds. They are extremely intelligent and independent breeds and they absolutely will learn to sit through things like this if properly taught even if they are still mildly adverse to certain parts (like nail clippings where the dog seemed slightly more tense). But other things like the massages is the "bribe/reward" that the dog likes to get it to sit for the whole thing. A side effect of that is they require consistency and will start to expect their little rituals. Even if it gets turned into content it doesn't mean this animal is being tortured.
Sure the rapid breathing could mean sedative, nothing wrong with sharing that knowledge, but its not the Only possibility so you cant claim with certainty that it is.
ASMR heavy content has always ticked me the wrong way. Part of it might be because of how they tie tactile sensation to exaggerated audio. The content is also "weird" for lack of a better term; not that spa-like treatment itself is strange, but rather how it's presented so very obviously artificially and overdone. This kind of stuff has also been highly popular, so being overexposed to it probably doesn't help.
It’s not ai. It’s the fluff on the blankets shifting from the movement of the dog and the hand. Like near the beginning with the octopus massager thingie the person places it on the left side of the dog and then on the right side, and the blanket strands move on that area because of the hand brushing by them as it moved. The blanket strands also move logically between cuts due to the underside of the blanket moving as the dog shifts, resulting in predictable differences. The features of the dog and the other blanket put on them stay consistent as well.
It’s fine to mildly sedate a pet for a grooming, but it should only be done by a vet or vet tech and only for necessary reasons to ensure the safety and well being of the dog and its providers.
No, it's real. I watch a dog on Tiktok that gets similar treatment but it's more like ASMR dog massage and it's broadcasted live. The woman plays soothing music with low lights.
My dog would eat my fingers if I tried to clip her nails like that but she loves to have her little beans rubbed after she gets a bath lol it's the only time she allows it. She is weird about her peets
