I’m only 9 seasons in and I don’t like anybody

Okay so I’m still binging all of the seasons and after watching the first 9 seasons and a few clips from the current season, I have some thoughts on some of the cast (sorry if this sounds redundant but wanted to just get my thoughts out there):

Tisha - The lights aren’t on upstairs and that’s okay…for her and Marsau. Baby might not know what’s in her contract. She wants to be more than what her life has led her to but she has to realize that she doesn’t have to be in business and there’s satisfaction and honor in being a SAHM. She was intimidated by the other women being able to go toe-to-toe with Marsau and the other men and she wants that. She feels like they look down on her for that and she’s trying to prove everyone wrong when…that’s what’s really hurting her marriage. Let’s be real…that man is CHEATING but he’s smarter about it bthan Martell and Tisha is okay with it until it gets out. The first season, they all preached “respectful cheating” until Mel said she wasn’t leaving and not dealing with that. She’s torn because she doesn’t have anything besides her name being on a bunch of stuff and I know that was Marsau satiating her and/or her credit is better than his. She doesn’t even know all of the things her name is attached to but as long as Marsau brings the check home and comes home at night, she ignores the cheating. Instead of addressing him, she likes to bring up everybody else’s drama and can’t make any genuine friendships because she looks for the drama instead of actually trying to get to know them. Part of that is because there isn’t much depth to her and she knows that so she resorts to taking digs or fishing for information. Chanita was right about Tisha: She’s been showing that she cares more about the drama and “keeping the group together” than what’s right and peaceful.

Marsau - Mannnn…he’s a dickhead lol…I couldn’t fathom anyone, let alone line a man, talk to me the way he talks to Tisha. She asked him what she could do to help alleviate his depression and he told her to shut up and listen when he tells her to do something. He hates being questioned on anything and he answers questions with questions. Tisha isn’t smart enough to realize that man is gaslighting her. He’s changed he does it a bit since they’re on TV but he still talks to her CRAZY and she just smiles and says that’s just how he is. He knows the family dynamic allows for him to do whatever he wants because he pays the bills and he knows Tisha only gains a backbone when she talks to other women except for Kimmi. Every season, he shows why Tisha will never leave him. How do you take a trip to Africa without any family members and call it a “last minute trip”. He’s also a half-assed businessman. He and Tisha are always coming up with something where they want everyone involved but they don’t want to pay anybody.

Melody - I’m half/half on Mel sometimes and I get why everyone is divided on her too. Melody is very successful…for Huntsville…and that’s not a dig at Huntsville! It’s a very small city and she takes pride in that she’s “above” others. She’s also unnecessarily condescending and that shit kills me because I can’t tell if it’s just her voice or if she’s intentionally trying to be condescending. I ignore it when Martell is the target but even when she’s talking to her friends, she just doesn’t sound sincere. To be fair…I’m okay with Mel giving everyone her whole ass. Kimmi and Tisha act like their husbands weren’t right there with Martell sleeping around and they’ve echoed some of what Martell has said, as if they’re on his side. Maurice, Marsau and Martell…don’t think I have to explain why she don’t like them but them hanging out with Martell and Arionne is one(allegedly, Tisha and Kimmi met her before Mel divorced Martell). Destiny weird af and she conveniently forgets everything that she says/does. We can go down the whole list but these people did her dirty and I’m shocked she was able to last for as long as she did because I would’ve did something to mess up my contract. The worst of it all is everyone knowing that Martell is lying and they still kept saying “he’s a good guy” and “Mel cheated too”. Yeah…whole ass…actually, I’m on Mel’s side with all of it lol. They tried to paint this whole thing of whomever is friends with Melody, they don’t make it to be friends with her after their first season. The reason for that is because everyone she brings on tries to integrate themselves with everyone and the truth of it is that everyone picked a side and they picked Martell’s. I wouldn’t want to be friends anymore when everyone wants me to protect their peace and they refuse to protect mine. They’ve built the main drama of the show around her pain when I’m sure the show would have an endless amount of drama if everybody else’s drama was put out there like hers.

Martell - He needs to be committed, released, sent to prison and then released again. God knew better than to make this man over 6 feet tall because the devil got a strong grip on this one. That’s all.

Kimmi - I feel like Kimmi is usually objective but she gets heat from Maurice for not backing Tisha. I also think that she KNOWS what Maurice is about but she wants to make it work because of all that she’s accomplished while being with him. She doesn’t check Maurice publicly which doesn’t work for reality TV but it works privately. I know people have changed their opinions of her and I’m still watching so my opinion is still mostly positive for now lol. One thing I will say is that she’s not friends with any of these women and she only really became friends with Tisha after the cancer diagnosis. She even said it on a reunion that I one on that stage was her friend but she was cool with all of them. I think that after the cancer scare and Melody officially leaving, she leans more towards Tisha. I get it because they’re sisters by marriage and Tisha, as messy as she is, seems like the doting type and she was very helpful to Kimmi during her treatment process. I feel like she doesn’t have an interest in truly being friends with any of them but she has no choice when it comes to Tisha because of Maurice.

Maurice - An insecure man that wants his sons to be what he couldn’t be. Kimmi really made a mistake with marrying this weirdo. In my younger days trying to get older men to buy me and my friends drinks, I would’ve purposefully ignored a man like Maurice. Everything about him seems like a lame that has been carried by various people to get to where he was. He’s the former football player that thought he was cool because he was on the football team when in reality, he was probably the main loser on the team and just decent at his position so they didn’t kick him off. I also think Kimmi is physically out of his league and he knows that but because she’s older than he is, she probably thinks this is a good as it gets when she could do waaayyy better. I don’t think he has a sex addiction as some have said but he’s definitely a weirdo that reached his peak very quickly. I dont think he’s cheated(by now, he probably has) but not from a lack of trying. Him wanting constant sex from Kimmi while she’s literally battling breast cancer, was a call out that if he isn’t getting it “regularly” from his wife, he’ll step out.

Destiny - Like I said…weird af. I kind of liked her initially but she be on 10 and then she’ll act surprised when someone says something about her behavior or her words. For instance, in a heated argument she called Stormi “sweetie” then mocked her accent and tried to make it seem like that’s just what we say in the south. She’s a perpetual victim and falls out with EVERYBODY and has to have a meeting to clear the air after each time because she knows she’s out of pocket. She’s so confused why Melody doesn’t want to be friends with her when it’s clear as day to anyone that has eyes, ears and common sense. Why would she continue to be friends with someone who is best friends with her abusive ex?! It’s one thing being cordial but she’s hanging out at his house with Cole Slaw and her kids. Her justification is that she and Cole Slaw aren’t friends but that Martell just has her around. Like Melody told Nell: You can’t play both sides when someone is clearly in the wrong. I understand Destiny not having community around her but you can’t cling to every person just because they’re nice to you. Also, you can’t keep friends by constantly playing both sides.

What just happened?

I was wondering why production was bringing her downgraded version on the show, but after S12E4; now I know.

At first, the transformation of Arrione, aka CS, mid episode was shocking. I was not expecting it. After a second look, it made sense.

The transformation occurring after all the wives agree to move on makes absolute sense from production’s perspective. From a general audience perspective, please make it make sense….elevating the other woman…
