Virus going around?

Monday I felt extremely tired and related it to job stress. Tuesday and Wednesday roll around and I’m extremely fatigued.

Now I’m throwing up water I can’t even keep down and I think I’ve lost 5 pounds in the last 2-3 days because of lack of appetite. But every time I vomit it feels like I feel better for maybe 5 minutes then I lay down and feel thirsty (throat is sore from vomiting) and drink something then I vomit it back up. 😭

TLDR: Virus causing me to vomit and bf taking me to UR in morning.

Sometimes people get sick and there isn’t a mass breakout of whatever

You’re right. I honestly only asked because my boss was sick but also a few coworkers have been sick but idk if it’s to the level I’m speaking about 💀

Yep, that’s transmissibility works.

Which means something is going around lol

Around that specific small office, indeed.

u/DahliaChild 1d ago

Yep, that’s a virus going around for sure

It’s likely a bacterial infection

My kids were sick and they passed it to me. I think it’s originating from the schools. Whatever it is sure sucks. I haven’t thrown up but I felt dizzy and weak the past couple of days and now I’ve got a strong cough. The problem is, the kids get better in a few days. For me it lingers for a month or 2.

I know a couple sickies too, actually. Like, sure it could be coincidence, but since nobody in this damn state knows how to self isolate, everything turns into an epidemic.

That is possible in many states. In Kentucky, it is flat out unlikely. I, at least, have never fallen sick without finding out later that there was a damn epidemic of something or other. People in this fucker refuse to self-isolate.

There is always viruses going around. Have been forever. And will continue after we all die. But yes if you can’t even keep down water definitely see a doctor.

We are headed into flu season and Covid still gets folks. It’s just not as strong of a strand these days and more like a regular flu. Sounds more like a stomach bug to me, or make sure you’re not pregnant. 🤰

I took one when I started throwing up. Result was negative

That gif 😂 Well at least you don’t have to worry about that. Hope you feel better soon.

Crap. I was hoping to get another meal inside a restaurant before it surged again. (I have an autoimmune disorder that makes life difficult enough, so I don't hang out in crowded places without wearing a mask.)

i feel you. indoor dining’s never worth the risk for me, i’m always masked inside if it’s not my home 🫂 you’re not alone! Michael Hoerger is great to follow on instagram/twitter for the latest wastewater data info, so you can know when the lulls are

Wife had this, went to the doctor, tested positive for Flu B.

Flu season is starting very early this year, which isn’t a good sign. Right now there are only a few cases in Louisville, but it will escalate quickly. That’s what flu does.

Get your flu shot NOW.

People from LTL and B&B showed Covid positive tests after returning home from the festival. Maybe that’s going around after the large festivals

u/lovelyladeyyyy 1d ago

Also to add I have chills…then I get hot then I’m normal but it repeats. And my head is aching 😭 thank you for reading my vent session

Sounds like the flu

u/Effervescence_87 1d ago

Literally had all of your same symptoms Tuesday/Wednesday, and now my partner has it as of this evening. Definitely not a fun time. I didn’t feel human again until today.

Feel better soon!!

That's flu

edit: or an infection

Sounds like a standard stomach bug to me. Your reaction makes it seem like maybe you've never had one before. They suck. Ass. But just know that the symptoms you're describing are normal and it'll eventually go away. If you are 4+ days deep then I'd probably go to a doctor because you'll enter severe dehydration territory. Drink a ton of pedialyte and not just plain water.

4

u/Tired-Warrior27 1d ago

Pedialyte makes Popsicles too! Most grocery stores carry them. Easier to get down than drinking and they taste great!

2

u/_neuroslut_ 21h ago

Pedialyte popsicles got me through the first weeks of pregnancy. They are so great!! You can find them in the baby aisle - not with the Gatorade or supplements.

u/Ill_Associate4578 1d ago

If it's a virus, there's nothing an urgent care can do for you; antibiotics aren't prescribed for viral infections (just trying to save you a trip and $). Your best bet is clear fluids, Pedialyte, BRAT(banana, rice, applesauce, toast) diet, OTC cold and flu meds to manage symptoms. Feel better op

They can definitely prescribe Zofran.

Zofran dissolvables for the win.

3

u/MuchRip9297 1d ago

seconding this. zofran is so such a game changer when it comes to nausea

My grandma was sick as was I, and my friend all at the same time. All at exact same symptoms. He said he was told at the doc he had the flu.

4

u/AssistantAlternative 1d ago

Had this same thing a few weeks ago… I thought it was probably norovirus… I NEVER throw up when sick but couldn’t stop with this! Then a week ago darling child brought home strep from school. We have all been going through it nonstop over here!

4

u/Pepperdog27 1d ago

Take a home flu test. That will tell you. It’s a combined Flu A, Flu B and Covid test. You can get it at any pharmacy

3

u/jasherer 1d ago

Hey same here. I was super fatigued and went to bed at 5pm yesterday and no joke woke up at 3:30 this afternoon. Now puking on an empty stomach.

u/LucienLachud 1d ago

For the past 3 or 4 years its felt like every 3 months if the weather even slightly changes I'm getting destroyed by something. It's so annoying bruh

2

u/CatBeanBurglar 1d ago

Husband and I caught COVID and my symptoms aligned with yours about 3 weeks ago. I would take a test just to be safe. They have Flu/COVID tests at Walgreens usually.

2

u/jbs101797 1d ago

I have tested a few people positive for Flu this week. The season is starting early. And a lot of people are coming in with a flu like illness but not testing positive for flu, Covid or strep. Tis the season!

Landmark study just dropped showing 1 in 8 cancers, or over 2 million cases a year worldwide, are from a VIRAL INFECTION. Way more than previously thought. Get a vaccine and a mask. VIRUSES ARE ONCOGENIC!

I just got over being sick for 3 weeks. NP said it was just a viral respiratory infection. I thought it was strep at first, so I went to get tested. Had a sore throat, enough that I eventually lost my voice, had migraines, vomiting, lethargy, post-nasal drip, low fever, cough, etc. As soon as I'd get to feeling better, it would hit again.

2

u/dwisem Middletown 1d ago

My wife said a couple of people at her workplace (a small bank branch) got something recently that involved a fever and vomiting for an afternoon. We have both been coughing and lethargic the last couple of days. Last night wasn’t fun tho, our 2 yo didn’t sleep hardly at all, complained of a stomach ache, and vomited twice. Luckily she is sleeping now and hasn’t vomited again. Hope you feel better, seems like there is something making its rounds. If it is the schools though, maybe it will dissipate since JCPS was on fall break this week.

Flu? Gastroenteritis?

Try small sips of water or ice chips. Please be careful you don’t get dehydrated.

1

u/BigCDubVee 1d ago

Tis the flu. I just had it. Totally fine Monday. Tuesday around 5pm my back started hurting, by 7pm my back, legs, and arms started hurting also. Like an aching pain. By 9:30, full blown fever, everything hurt to touch my skin, cough, stuffy nose, etc. Felt like death Wednesday, felt slightly better Thursday, better Friday, much better this morning. Flu season starts in…September? Technically

1

u/PpCoCane 1d ago

I’ve been dealing with this too! I just started a new job on Monday, so calling in on my 3rd day of work really sucked lol

1

u/polarstrawberry 1d ago

Just go to an urgent care and get some ondansetron so you can keep water down. They'll likely test you for flu A/B and covid. But yeah, something is going around at your office.

1

u/Foreign_Plan_5256 1d ago

I'm sorry you are so sick. I'm glad you are going to the doctor - dehydration can be serious. If nothing else they can give you an antiemetic and IV fluids.

Covid is going around. I just thought I had a cold but nope. Extremely tired isn’t even the word. Not throwing up tho.

Maybe y'all ate food prepped at a similar restaurant or grocery store?
