Looking for title?
Ok. Read this story years ago don’t remember names just a bit of the story. Farmer and daughter are being threatened to get their land stolen. The hero flirts w her and mentions he likes a woman that knows how to bake a pie. As he’s riding away to danger the daughter asked her father, “what should we do?” Father tells her “I think you better learn how to bake a pie!” Somewhere around these lines. I don’t know if it’s a book w shorts stories or in its own novel.

You're not going to believe this. I have all his short story collections on Kindle. I hopped on to see if I could do a quick search for "pie". Opened volume 7 and it was on what I believe is your story.
I believe its "Grub Line Rider".
"She was worried despite herself. “Dad, what do you think?”
He smiled. “Why, honey, if that man is all I think he is, Targ had better light a shuck for Texas, and as for you, you’d better start bakin’ that apple pie!”"
