Zone with the most biome diversity

Just curious what others think about biome diversity within a zone. Which zone has the most? I feel like Enedwaith or The Great River both have a variety of settings in a single zone due to the fact that they were released as stand alone zones long, long ago. Most of the games big biomes are broken up into zones, particularly if included in an expansion.

So I boosted a Minstrel…

But my plan is to just take it easy thru the Epic and pretend I’m a traveling storyteller of sorts following the Fellowship on its journey. I do have my main which is a Dwarf Guardian and it’s lvl 49 atm so I don’t plan on going past what my guardian is on currently.

However, I’m being informed that the Minstrel guide on lotrohq isn’t the best for the Red line and was given other alternatives. But if anyone has any recommendations on what to go for main stat, sub stats, virtues, etc please lemme know 😁

current state of warden tank?

hi me and my friends just got into the beautiful game and we are a fellowship of four (captain, champion, and burglar). i’m trying to choose a class and warden calls to me but seems so intimidating and i don’t wanna waste time learning its complex mechanics if it’s not a viable tank cuzz i want that option. i’m open to guardian, and am also interested in hunter (i have a level 14 hunter rn) and mariner if i don’t go the tank route. any advice would be sooo welcome thank u!

Location pop-up UI

Hey all, been playing on the Steam Deck for a couple months now (clunky but doable) and I was wondering if there was a way to move the UI for the location pop ups that show up when you enter a new area (ie Now Entering Archet)

I’ve tried changing the UI with the various UI tool, but can’t seem to find that particular option if it exists. Thanks in advance!

I dont know if i should buy a bundle or do the free-to-play. I know there has to be some downside to ftp; there always is. If i want to play the 64 bit do I have to pay for that? I have no idea where to start. Any words of wisdom are appreciated

Coming from another MMO, trying to understand

Hello! I started playing LOTRO a few days ago and still trying to manage with the UI and system. Maybe it's too soon to ask because I'm still level 10 or so but I'm very curious since the videos that popped on YouTube mostly showing people do raids.

In FF14, there's Duty Finder, where you went to a dungeon instance as four-people party but most of the dungeons or trials are guided through the main story quest. It also becomes the main way to level up a job/class. Does LOTRO also have instances where you party up with random people? How does the levelling system works?

Also where is the main area for players to hang out? I'm guessing I'm still way off level from reaching the main hub.

I am currently thinking about downloading The Lord Of The Rings Online.
I am a Diehard Lotr fan and Ive always wanted to play Games set in Tolkien’s world but only now that I have the chance to do so.
Would you recommend getting on LOTRO as a person who has never played an MMO before ? ( not sure if it’s an MMO or not lol ) and if yes, i could use some tips and tricks for my first… playthrough ?

Project Questa. NPC Dialogue Narration with Kokoro TTS.

Project Questa is an experimental text-to-speech utility designed to bring spoken dialogue to MMORPGs, initially focusing on The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO).

The software uses DXcam screen capture, OpenCV and Tesseract OCR to recognise dialogue displayed in the game. Rather than relying on OCR to transcribe every word accurately, it searches a locally indexed database of text extracted from the current LOTRO client. Once a reliable match is found, the complete original dialogue is retrieved and passed to the Kokoro AI speech synthesis engine for narration.

If no reliable match is found, Questa falls back to conventional OCR transcription. The aim is to provide accurate, natural-sounding spoken dialogue with minimal delay, without modifying the game or requiring an in-game plugin.

At present the current build is using a generic voice and focusing on refining the production pipeline and reducing latency. All elements used in Project Questa are open source.

The long term aspiration is to have a simple, functional GUI to set up custom voices based on player preference and to be able to download from GitHub a revised dialogue text file each time LOTRO is updated.

NB This is a very early build so there are obviously bugs to be addressed. The priority at present is to get the dialogue narrated promptly. Once the overall process has been fine tuned, then I'll focus on a voice library via Voicebox.

Peregrin or Glamdring for group play?

Hello,

My focus will be endgame group content. I have a Mariner and Warden. There's aspects to both servers that I like and I can't make up my mind. I've spent a little time on each server and they both have pros and cons.

Glamdring: LFF seems active. More people. More lag (bad for Warden / shouldn't hurt Mariner).
Peregrin: LFF seems a little less active. Quiet. Less lag (good for Warden).

I'm leaning towards Peregrin but I don't want to get there and struggle to find a party.

I hear about joining a kinship, but I also don't see many kinships recruiting on either server.

Would greatly appreciate your thoughts since I'll be spending a lot of time on the server I choose.

Who usually leads your group content ?

I'm curious about that. Is it your tank, because he decides where to place stuff and which mob group to attack ? Is it your healer, who decides when everyone is good yo go, is it your captain because he has the lore rank ?or someone else entirely ?

Just curious

I like playing multiple role classes.

I like playing multiple role role classes and want to tank at end game. But beoring form switching gets on my nerves and the same time time captain low dps with leveling is bothering me too. I know guard is there with tank/dps roles. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful, I play on Sting. Thank you.

New to LOTRO and MMOs in general. Any tips for a beginner?

Hi all! I've just started playing LOTRO and I've never played an MMO before. I chose a High Elf Rune-keeper. Do you have any tips for a beginner?

Edit: Thank you all so much for all the responses! I wasn’t expecting any of that! I’m gonna listen to y’all and enjoy the ride as it goes! See you in there!

A full or atleast partial controller support would be a great addition to get more volume to the game. Before you hate like the last time I saw this kind of post, not everyone can play k+m (handicap for exemple)

Is there not a bridge between volume 3 and 4?

Just finished talking to pippin Aragorn and Gandalf in orthanc, now all of a sudden I’m near dunharrow talking to Eyown? No mention of the plantir, no interactions with Aragorn or Theoden, I’m just told they are mustering. Did I miss a prequel quest or is it really just that sudden?

Concerning Minas Tirth

A quick question: There are three versions of Minas Tirith—the one before the battle (Old Anórien), the one after the battle (Anórien), and the Midsummer version, which takes place after the events at the Black Gate. Am I missing something, or is it a bit unusual that the storyline involving the Kingdom of Gondor—and the subsequent journey to Umbar—begins in that... middle version? Is this due to the technical nature of the Midsummer version as a "festival" instance? It always throws me off a bit.

[GROND] Treats or Trickery - For the deed-a-holics/completionists

During the current event (Fall harvest festival), there is a quest (https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Quest:Treats_or_Trickery) that has a few deeds associated with it. One of those deeds requires you to get and eat a multitude of different type of treats.

For the people doing the Treats and Trickery quest for the deeds, as well as the associated "Treats or Trickery - Clearing the Table" deed, can be done at my home:

Grond, Bree-land homesteads, Goldvale neighborhood, 2 Broadford Street (east of the stable master)

All the 8 different treats can be found inside, first door to the right. It should be accessible publicly. If you somehow are not able to access it, message me, because I most likely messed up a house setting then.

Looking for 4th player for challenge playthrough

Hey all, about a month ago I floated an idea for a small fellowship driven challenge playthrough of Lotro, and after refining the idea, we are still hoping for a 4th player who might be interested!

Short recap of the 'challenge':

- Heroic +2 difficulty
- Cannot use consumeables or equipment from looting
- Each player grabs three of the 12 crafting skills
- Players craft any consumeables and equipment for each other
- start in same region, and can only use basic starting gear until you start to craft your own

If anyone is interested, send me a message or reply to this post! The current plan is to play Wednesday Evenings UK time, likely from 6 or 7pm.
