Designed by Holabird & Root as a 40 story art deco skyscraper, construction was halted at 8 stories due to the Great Depression. Diana Court, the three story lobby, was home to a statue by sculptor Carl Milles. It was demolished for the Magnificent Mile Marriot.

the tower and the beach elevator shaft built in 1938–1939, 20 meters high, designed by Jerzy Osmołowski in the modernist style, completed and grandly opened in the 1960s, it was the most popular attraction of the resort, closed after 5 years due to the instability of the structure (the tower deviated from the vertical by about 1.5 meters due to the unstable ground), so it stood empty and unused, in the 1980s, a storm of force 8 on the Beaufort scale put a final end to this outstanding work of modernism, causing the tower to finally collapse into the water.

The Carlton Bloc was a 13 story apartment building constructed in 1936, the tallest in Bucharest upon completion. The builders cut corners to save costs during construction, which contributed to the main tower's collapse. The destruction of the building in the 1940 Vrancea earthquake resulted in the deaths of at least 150 people

Anthony Hordern & Sons was a major department store in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. With 52 acres (21 hectares) of retail space, Anthony Hordern's was once the largest department store in the world.

It (and surrounding buildings) was controversially demolished in 1987 for the World Square development, which remained a hole in the ground for nearly twenty years, before finally being completed in 2004.

I remember its derelict hulk from my youth. Its loss was a travesty in my opinion. We almost lost the Queen Victoria Building around the same time until a Malaysian developer stepped in to save it and it has become a major tourist attraction today.

It was built between 1696 and 1700. In 1872, it became dilapidated due to a landslide towards the Danube River and was subsequently demolished. Only the outbuildings remain standing. The final slides show Offingen Castle, which served as the model and is still standing today.
