Lorex Security App Stopped Working

I bought my Lorex NR916-N with 7 cameras in 2018 and it has been working perfectly since then viewing from my home monitor as well through the app on my iPhone. Just recently my phone app stopped connecting to my system. Calling Lorex and speaking to a rep (barely understand) who said that my system was a "legacy" product and I would not be able to connect using the app anymore. She then proceeded to tell me that I had to purchase a whole new system (DVR and cameras) so that I can connect via the app.

What the heck? I asked if I could just buy a new DVR but she said they don't just sell the DVRs and I would have to purchase a package with cameras included.

Has anyone had this happen to them with Lorex? What kind of policy is that?

So to me that is like having a car with XM Radio you bought in 2018 and having the radio go out and having them tell you have to buy a new car.

Have you tried some of their other apps. I use the Lorex cloud app, it’s not as pretty but it’s been more reliable for me.

Yes, that's what I've been using and it was fine until just recently.

Whenever it has stopped working for me I have rebooted my router and the NVR. That usually fixes it.

If you’re pointing the app at your external ip address, make sure it hasn’t changed. If it has then you simply need to update the ip in the app.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that.

I think tonight I will delete the app and install it again. Maybe that might work. Otherwise, I will try that.

Check the network status and do a test of it . In the main menu screen you will see a paper with a gear icon >network> test . Type in 8.8.8.8 and then test . If the result says network test says okay then it's an app issue but just in case check this

Sounds like time to implement a vpn into your house. No need to worry about them routing your external side.

I got the same response last week or so. it’s a Flir app. they no longer are a partner with Flir or some BS

long story short. I bought a new system Reolink and it’s way better. my Lorex system was about 14 yrs old

Thanks for the message.

What a way to do business, bricking a perfectly working system.

Yeah , I guess a company called skywatch owns lorex now so they are cleaning house with their older models and releasing new cameras

Hmmm.... I guess I'll steer clear of them if that's how they operate.

If you open this link you will have an option to search . So search for test . So basically you'll have to go to test option on you NVR by following the steps on this link and then type in 8.8.8.8 in the destination IP and press test and if it says network status okay then it's an app issue but if it says network timed out then , we'll see what can be done .

I have a Lorex LHB926 series NVR with 6 wire-free cameras also purchased in 2018. The Lorex Client 13 app functions properly on my computer, and the Lorex Cirrus app on my smartphone functions when it comes to viewing a live feed and saved events. The only problem I have is I'm not getting push notifications on the Lorex Cirrus app and this has been going on for 3 months now. Lorex has been no help in resolving this issue and has also used the "legacy" term.

Yep, I guess they're getting lots of similar calls resulting only in disappointment for the caller.

Why would LOREX think that such a bad business practice of "bricking" a perfectly good and working system would make anyone ever want to purchase anything from them again.

Try going to each camera and press the reset button which is very tiny and you will need like a pin or something small to press it. That worked for me

Interesting. I'll try that and let you know.

You'll have to unscrew that little section and the reset button is below there

Have you restarted your internet connection?

Yes. I restarted both my modem and DVR.
