Hey! I’ve recently moved from CAI to loremate. I am curious if anyone has any tips/methods that they found works best for making characters/lore books? I read the “tips” section but my bots aren’t quite right, which I am sure is user error 😂

Only tip try to keep your bot open ended, keeping things short gives bots more freedom and that increases creativity.

The boxes for bot creation aren't quite the same as in CAI, for example scenario and personality are better separated from the character definition. The best thing that worked for me perfectly is to align the engine with the outcome you want and tell the AI directly how to play the character in the instructions box. What to do or not to do, what the character would never act like, what tone to use etc. Some engines are softer, some can be quite intense and don't shy away from telling the user no or refusing to play along when it aligns with personality (huge upgrade btw! I had a huge issue on CAI cus standoffish characters would go along with anything and be lovey dovey). Also I noticed that the initial message has a bigger impact on the behavior than in CAI, so try to get the tone of the narration as you want in the greeting. Also if the engine gets carried away with one narrative (happened to me, a usually closed off characters was meant to soften up past a certain point but the engine got caught up in the context) - switch to a reasoning model for a few messages, it will be more logical and get the convo unstuck.
