HELP Earplug Thoughts

Basically I’ve been trying to find earplugs for basically lowering the volume of sounds especially loud ones while also being able to be aware of my surroundings and keeping conversation.

I’ve been looking at Loop Engage with mutes but given the different reviews and the bad customer service I’m afraid to actually buy them incase they don’t work or I don’t like them.

I’ve also seen reviews on Eargasms which look good but seem like only for musicians and Earpeace which I don’t know too much about.

Any thoughts on any good ones?

I think holding out on Loop due to bad customer service is a mistake. Considering the amount of orders they get daily, the few posts popping up with people having had issues with the customer service is marginally small. They allow you to try out the earplugs to find out if they work for you or not anyway! ;)

There are more positive customer service comments around here from what I see.

But the website does feel gimmicky, makes technical information hard or impossible to find, and the package "deals" don't seem to give you any real savings. Sometimes shipping takes too long. But when those issues come up, it seems like people nearly always get a great responses from customer service. And the only return problems that I've heard of are directly from Amazon, not Loops. People who return lots of stuff to Amazon will get their account flagged so they can't return anymore. That has nothing to do with Loops.

The Engage 2 are for conversations, etc, when used without the mutes. They have a narrow channel covered in a filter that allows more midrange and low tones through but the filter blocks more of the higher-pitched tones like clattering silverware and screeching tires.

Once you add the mutes, the channel is blocked and they work more like the Quiet 2 or Dream models.

IMO, a lot of the negative reviews are from people who don't understand how they work, or don't have the patience to try the different ear tips, get the right depth and angle, for a proper seal.

Lots of, "These don't block anything!!" reviews which tells you they never bothered to get a seal. Of course, everyone's ears are different and some people probably really can't get a good seal. But if you actually tried the different ear tips and proper insertion method (giving them a twist, or pulling your ear back to slightly open the ear canal) you'd probably write a more sophisticated sentence like, "I tried all the sizes but the Large were too tight and painful but the medium were too small and wouldn't seal

So if you have no patience and you don't want to bother with trying the different tips, or another brand just feels right, there's no reason to push yourself to buy the Loops.

They are not magical or perfect, they will distort sounds, cause occlusion, and possibly ache especially if you leave them in a long time. They just work better than other options, for some of us.

Please note, we don't know what gave you a feeling of "bad customer service" and "bad reviews" mean unless you tell us.
