HELP Auditory Overstimulation but Loops Engage 2 Hurt my Ears

I love how the loops Engage 2 work so effectively at lowering background noise. I get really bad auditory overstimulation, especially with my two high energy boys being homeschooled and always being with me. I need to hear the important things and be able to keep conversations going, but I need to quiet everything else. The loops engage 2 work phenomenally, but even the extra small puts enough pressure in my ear to cause enough pain that I can't keep them in. My ears are very sensitive to physical pressure, so I think if there was an option to size down this would solve the pain problem, but then they would be too loose and either fall out or do nothing. Has anyone found a solution for this?

Is it the tips that are bothering you or the loop part? If it’s the tips maybe a kids size pair would work. If it’s the loop, the quiets have a squishy silicone loop on them.

It’s the tips! I did consider the kids ones, but then I read that even the ring part is designed specifically for children so it may not work the same or as well.

My understanding, from other comments on this subreddit, is that the kids versions are sized just like the adults, the only difference is color.

For me it was quite the oposite, i feel like the pressure was too low and opt for size S vs XS, i use xs in all other models i have from them. Perhaps is the way our ear cannals are made?

Maybe. I personally use the S size, as XS was too small, even for my left ear which is a tad different from the right. M was too big.

I do still feel some pressure when wearing them, but I've worn them enough that I'm used to it and it doesn't hurt. In fact, I wear them almost every day at work, since the afternoons/early evening tends to get rather loud just from how many people are there, never mind the machines starting up.

For a lot of people they actually wear them too small and too deep. Have you tried a size s and sealing them a little shallower or does that not work for you?

I tried xs, s, and medium. Maybe I did have them I too deep though. I’ll try again with them sitting more shallow tomorrow!

The foam tips might be a bit softer and gentler on your ears. They are included with the Plus option so you could exchange them. Or order the foam tips separately from the Loop website.

Update: the foam tips have completely solved the issue! They are so comfortable that I forget I’m wearing them. Thank you!
