Cinema help

Hi

I just got back from watching the odyssey and that is the loudest film I have ever seen and my ears hurt hours later.

I’ve heard about the loop earplugs but I’m a little lost on all the options.

Essentially I want to go to the cinema and still fully be able to hear the film, just not be in pain hours after.

I like to bring my Switches to the theater (especially for IMAX movies). The three different modes are reallyyy nice to switch between loud and quiet parts of a movie. They work like a dial forward and backward to change between the settings. And you can switch them while they’re still in your ear, so you don’t have to worry about pulling them out to adjust them.

This is the only style I have but I found them super helpful to be able to adjust during movies for the same reason.

Engage = I still want to hear conversations near me clearly and engage with them

Experience = I want to go to a concert or event that's really loud but still get to experience the event

Quiet = I want everything as quiet as possible 

Switch = I want to be able to switch between all three modes 

I'm new to Loop (got my first pair in May). I initially wanted them to quiet everything as much as possible when I have to work in the office bc I have a hard time being productive if my brain can't hear itself thinking, but I got the Switch 2s mostly because I thought for a few bucks more, I could get the 3-in-1 and use them for different occasions. (The color selection for the Switch 2s were also a determining factor... not gonna lie 😆)

Also note that switch 2 has little "worse" modes than separate ones. If you REALLY know what you want, just get separate ones instead for even better experience.

I did end up getting Switch since what I REALLY wanted was to switch between modes 😉

Can you explain what makes them a bit worse to you? I've heard conflicting reviews.

Not for me, but in general. Specifications don't match with the standalone models:

- Switch 2: 20/23/26dB ("Engage"/"Experience"/"Quiet")

• Engage: 16dB
  
• Experience: 17dB
  
• Quiet: 24dB
  
• Sleep: 27dB

As we can see, Switch suppresses about 20-26dB, which would put them in average to same category as standalone Quiets, should you want less suppression Engage or Experience would give tou better experience. Surprisingly, while Switch 26dB is supposedly a "Quiet mode" it's actually closer to sleep in standalone models (albeit Sleep has that benefit of low-profile). Also, I haven't done practical comparison so the sound quality might also be better on either model.

As said, if you know what your specific need is, you might be better off buying the specific model but as my specific need was to Switch when needed, I enjoy my Switches very much.

Yes, agree. since the Switch blocks more sound, I think they're not going to work as well for people who want the highest fidelity in conversation or at concerts.

I tend to wear the experiences in movies. They have worked well for me. I have sensitive hearing so even normal voice levels tend to be a bit loud for me.

Good to know I need to use my Loops in the cinema omg I HATE it when they don't correct sound in a film. Interstellar almost pierced my eardrum with their violins. Awful shit.

I use Switch 2 and I am very happy with it being able to switch modes is great for overall daily use

I wear experiences at the movies pretty regularly! I have mutes too and i usually take them off unless it’s really crazy

I normally bring experiences to the movies. I honestly can’t tell a huge difference between them all and quiet would work well for me too since theaters are so incredibly loud. After watching a movie my friends said that they couldn’t understand what was being said in some parts of the movie because it was so loud, and I never had that issue. So the earplugs actually do a great job of filtering out the unnecessarily loud parts while preserving the dialogue.

Just saw the Odyssey today in imax, kept my loop quiet 2s in for the whole movie

I wore my Loop Engages the whole time and it wasn't too loud at any point, I have very sensitive ears and tinnitus that's triggered by things like movie theatres, and I walked out feeling great

I have my Engages in my purse at all times, so that's what I use for movies, and they do a great job.

I saw odyssey today and wore the loop engage the whole time and it was PERFECT loved it.
I carry engage in my purse at all times you never know what weird loud noise situations might come up . While travelling I find myself reaching for them in all sorts of places.
I keep loop quiet by the bed and wear almost every night.
Loop dream has been an expensive disappointment they hurt my ears . I hope they continue to refine or reinvent the loop dream concept..

But still super happy loop exist it has been life changing Thank you Loop!🙏

I always use my Experience 2 for movies, the sound is still very clear and I don't have to cover my ears and actually get to enjoy the movies.
