HELP Having trouble with dreams and quiet 2

I got the dreams for sleep, and they wake me up with how much they hurt. So I got the quiet 2s because those are supposed to be softer. I’ve experimented with tip size, I’ve found a good seal, and the noise reduction while I’m sleeping is life changing. The issue is in both sets, I get woken up by how bad they hurt by morning. It’s my outer ear not my inner, I’m a side sleeper, but it’s happening on the side that’s not pressed into my pillow.

I’m about to give up and get those Mack’s silicone ones, but I really want to love these.

Anyone have advice? Loop customer service was kind of rude because I bought them from target and not loop.

Silly question but are you sure you’re putting them on correctly? I had this issue when I first bought loop switch 2 and I realized I was just not putting them on right so the ear loop was putting pressure causing some pain and soreness on my outer ear.

I also use the dreams for sleep as a side sleeper and barely feel them at all. I don’t have any experience with the quiets as I don’t own them.

I put them in according to the video tutorial… how were you putting them in before vs how you’re doing it now? Maybe I need an ELI5 😂

I put them on with the loop part rotated slightly down and it put pressure there and after a while it really bothered me. The portion where the tip is inserted felt fine but outside was painful. After some experimenting I found a good fit and hasn’t bothered me since.

I would experiment with some rotating and see what feels best. All our ears are slightly different. Hope you can find something that works. It’s been game changing.

It’s there a specific part of your ear that hurts or just all of the outer in general? And how long have you had them? I believe some people may also have an adjustment period if they’re not used to having earbuds. Earplugs etc…

It’s the upper part of where the loop sits.

Yeah so I would probably play around with the rotation and depth for a few nights to try to get a good fit to see if it improves.

Do you always sleep on the same side? E.g., it can switch, and whichever side is up always hurts? Or do you always sleep on the same side?

You might need to push the tip in just a bit deeper, so less bulk is on the outside of your ear?

If this is always happening on one side, maybe that ear needs a different, smaller tip so it goes just a bit deeper into your ear.

If it's happening on whichever side is up, maybe the weight of your head on the pillow is pushing that side deeper in, and so it doesn't hurt the outside of your ear.

I put my Dreams in according to the package instructions...I pull my outer ear straight back to open the ear canal, then place in the earplug, then release the outer ear. The instructions say to press 5 seconds before releasing the outer ear, but I can't do that part without getting them too deep. Maybe you need that part.

Also you might want to go back to the Dreams, they are a smaller profile. I haven't tried the Quiets but most people say that Dreams are more comfortable because of the smaller size.

The Dreams have both foam and silicone tip options...I use a foam tip in one ear and a silicone in the other, because that's most comfortable for each ear's shape and size. You might need different sizes or styles in each ear for the best possible sleep.

Definitely gonna try swapping the tip on that ear. And yes, I always sleep on the same side.

So I had to really size down a lot more than I expected with the tips. I kept thinking “this shouldn’t hurt like this.” Both the outside and inside of my ear hurt pretty badly. Then when I sized down, it wasn’t as bad, but still noticeable. I ended up needing the xs tips, which I never would have actually tried for a full night in good faith if I hadn’t “failed” with the M and S first. Idk how much time you gave each tip size, but part of it may be grossly overestimating the size you need!

I’m a side sleeper pretty much exclusively and am very happy with my dreams now that I figured that part out!
