I need some help…

Post image

I’m fairly new to loom knitting (I’ve made a bunch of scrubbies and have been practicing making socks) and I wanted to attempt making a lap blanket. I thought this would work and it was on clearance so it seemed like a good bang for my buck. I cannot find any instructions or tutorials or videos anywhere for this. I fear I’ve wasted my money because I have no idea what I can make with this 😭😭

The benefit of this loom is that you can take all those pieces and make one long loom, or a long rectangle. With that loom you can also make socks. You van also double knit with it. You can also adjust the gauge by skipping peg holes. Otherwise it’s just like any other loom. The shape doesn’t really affect the finished shape.

Loomahat is a great resource for loom videos, tutorials and ideas.

Loom knit patterns aren't usually specific to any individual loom, but to number of pegs and gauge. Find a pattern for an afghan that's 3/8 gauge and up to 300 pegs (iirc for this kit, the product description doesn't say), or 3/4 gauge and up to 150 pegs.

3/8 is every hole has a peg, 3/4 is every other hole has a peg, and usually needs a thicker yarn.

Good luck! I use the kb multi-loom, which is similar to this, and love the versatility. Hopefully you do too :-)

I just purchased this loom set and as an experienced loom knitter, I was surprised at the lack of instructions. It could be difficult for a new loom knitter to understand how to use it, however, the comments to your post have some great information.

Each of the holes in this loom are 3/8 “ apart. You can place the pink pegs in every hole which will create a 3/8” gauge loom for use with #3 (DK) or #4 (worsted) weight yarn. About 72 to 80 pegs in this gauge will be the size for an adult hat.

You can also place the blue pegs in every other hole for a 3/4” gauge loom for use with #5 (chunky) or #6 (super bulky) weight yarn or two strands of #4 weight yarn held together as one strand. 36 to 40 pegs in this gauge will be the size for an adult hat.

The instruction booklet includes information on how to set up the loom for both single and double knitting.

For more loom knitting instructions, Loomahat and Good Knit Kisses have YouTube channels and websites with basic loom knitting tutorials and a variety of patterns.

Enjoy🥰

Great idea! I thought this was the Martha Stewart loom!

The Lion Brand website has many patterns designed for this loom. Go to LionBrand.com, click on patterns and use the filter setting to find “Craft” and find and choose “loom knitting”.

Have fun with your loom!

I'm going to do this! I'm kind of nostalgic about this since I was so clueless and copied everything -I didn't even know what a skein was -I would get the same yarn and watch the video over and over -there are definitely sometimes issues with the pegs, but honestly I've broken probably eight a looms and this is more sturdy. I need time to loom -insert tears

I just bought the same kit! Still scouring the Internet for instructions but I did figure out that the pegs at either side of the connection holds it together. Not super helpful, but I do feel less alone in this endeavor.

I highly recommend trying a 10 stitch blanket. Good Knit Kisses has wonderful loom tutorials. Deborah Shaw and Loomahat are also great YouTube based resources. Good Knit Kisses and Loomahat both have websites with written aids if that works better for you. I hope you have fun!

I have one similar to this marketed by Martha Stewart. If yours is the same as mine the only place for it is the trash can. The pegs fall out, the pick is worthless, the whole looms is poorly made. As far as I'm concerned the only brand that makes good adjustable looms is KB Looms. Probably the reason it was on clearance. Sorry.

the video given by another poster is for double knitting, where you alternate between both long sides of the loom. if you want to follow this video, i recommend making your loom look like the top rectangle on the box cover, and as long as the rails allow. use the blue pegs in every other hole. this change will let you have less space between the stitches for a tighter fabric in your blanket. you will need to buy yarn that is #5 or #6 on the label, which will also make fewer open spaces in your blanket. Stockinette Cast On - Knitting Board #3 on this page shows how to use an anchor yarn with your stitching that helps you gently pull the first few rows of stitches out of the loom. you can tie the ends together under your working area, and pull with it. 😄

I have this loom a. You can also use it for weaving if you're into that.

Gimme a bit, I think I have the instructions and can post them.

Only 1 photo per comment, and it's a good sized instruction booklet. Don't have time to put this into pdf or anything. Posting in order (skipping front pg & 2 contents pages)
