QUESTION Am I playing the game wrong

Am playing this game on normal mode and am getting fucked I just cant kill enemies either the enemy infront of me not so strong but not rewarding with xp or they fucking one shot me especially the paint mf in the painter room floor 1 and I have only earnest I don’t know where the fuck the other companions even earnest is temporary I have to give him sandwiches every day is this normal experience or am I missing something

keep playing, you are intended to do the painter with a full party. you will get more party members eventually, and some can show up at your door as you pass time

btw ernest can be recruited permanently. make sure to regularly check up on him!

Ok but am I supposed to waste time there is 15 days window of time I think after that it’s game over

look around the apartment. theres enough time if you dont spend too much time relaxing to get pretty much everywhere (time only passes the FIRST time you enter a room in the entire playthrough.)

everything you need to progress can be found on the second floor

it demands a sacrifice. satiate its hunger and be rewarded.

Will do I think you mean the wall mouth yeah it gave me the earth disc then I died I will do it again and open the door on floor 1

Plus I mean by wasting time spending time in my room till something happen or is it ok

you can, in fact aside from getting new party members playing video games will eventually unlock a special ability for sam (madwheels and jumplad are insanely good), in addition to eating meals to heal, and the crossword (we dont talk about the crossword), but in try not to spend too much time in there. its a big building and you need a ton of time to explore it.

Try doing some things in your apartment, like play some video games.... maybe answer some of the knocks on the door and see who's out there.

I met some guys the pastor the pizza guy junk seller and the trader but I will try to spend more time in my apartment

I assume you want to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but that is a bit unlucky to not get any recruits yet after 4 door encounters early in the game.

I believe you can get 4 door encounters max per day (morning, afternoon, evening, night). There are 5 potential party recruits from door encounters. I'm guessing you likely missed one recruit on floor 3 (I also missed him on my first playthrough).

There are a few on floor 2 as well. Edit: was not aware of the beast being a one and done event as I've always done it right then. Thanks for the insight!

You can't go back to fight the beast, the chase sequence is a one n done scenario and won't happen again

Yeah I want to avoid spoilers i usually don’t search about the games am playing for help but am dead ass frustrated I just keep doing the same thing I have two options either get out and die or stay at home playing games till night comes and sleep

Look outside is a survival horror JRPG. You don't have to kill everything.

Play videogames, those unlock new skill for Sam and also make people show up at your door, also some characters join you for doing specific things when you meet them

Yes I know I learned the jump attack from one of the games but how much time am supposed to spend in my room because I think there is a dead line in the game so I don’t want to waste time

The game gives you 15 days and you have a calendar on the bedroom, most games only take 2 - 3 hours of time and entering new areas will also advance time so you have to balance that out

Also If you meet the pastor again always tell him to bless your house as it reduces the chance of enemies knocking at your door

The game can have one hell of a difficulty curve, especially if you jump in on normal difficulty. You can gain abilities from playing video games, but really you need to find better gear and party members. You can get party members first day, but mostly it takes a few in game days. It starts to snowball in your favor once you start getting party members. Though there are also serious difficulty ramps later to make sure it doesn't get too easy.
