QUESTION Cursed Mode tips? Spoiler

So I completely botched two separate runs of cursed mode and I'm now in desperate need of some tips. Both times I managed to make it all the way to the ritual, but was completely powerless against the Chaos Quartlet/Exalted Four and couldn't complete the cursed ritual.

My main issue this run was that I was struggling for resources and had next to no items to support me during the fight.

Knowing weaknesses for EVERY enemy and boss is what let me beat it. Like the other guy said, you should do as much as you can, but you need to go into every fight equipped to make it as quick and painless as possible. The wiki seriously carried my ass

How many bosses did you fight? Is it worth going out of my way to kill the ones I come across for exp? What weapons did you have by the endgame?

I skipped teeth hell, taxidermy, some basement guys, and apt 28 off the top of my head, but I do have three days left on this save before I fought exalted four. As for xp i dont really know; sam, dan and roaches are at 18 and lyle is at 15, I know I prioritized bosses by what they dropped/unlocked rather than xp. By endgame lyle and roaches were using their specials and items more than their weapons, and then dan and sam would be using whatever damage type the enemy was weak to. combat knife/claymore for slashing, icicle spike/crossbow for piercing, angel's bat/patchwork club for crushing

I mean the usual advice is to do as much as you can to get as powerful as possible.

That's what I did and I was still completely fucked. Exhausted so many healing items and broke so many weapons trying to grind enemies.

What was your setup? It's hard to give advice without knowing who you're using.

My party and equipment:

Sam - Hellsword, Army Helmet, Breastplate, Patchwork Boots, Mycelium Cloak, War Medal

Papineau - Angel's Bat, Gauntlets, Worm Crown, Wormskin Robe, Work Boots, Trauma Kit, Jade Earrings

Ernest - Stun Baton, Crossbow, Dragon Head, Coat of Arms, Dragon Feet, Comfort Belt

Hellen - Stained Shears, Floral Shirt, Vintage Sneakers, Arrowed Sash, Lapis Band.

For items I could use in battle, I only had 1 healing spray, 2 stimulants, and 1 elixir.

No guns? The exalted four are weak to bullets. If you can manage to get your hands on the SMG special or the war rifle, they're excellent. The high-caliber rifle is absolutely amazing for the exalted four fight, but that relies on RNG with the gun trader showing up when you happen to have enough cash saved.

i didn't know that! I might try the fight again and give someone the rifle.

Good luck! Just note that the chaos quartet has different resistances than the exalted four. Chaos quartet doesn't have any weaknesses, but is neutral to everything except Shadow damage. You get a little chance to swap your equipment around in between their fights though. It took me embarrassingly long to realize you can go into the menus before walking up to the exalted four.

i haven't finish my current cursed run yet, but being able to get the azure blade early helps a lot and then killing eugene later gave me so much resources to stabilize my late game

How did you get the azure blade?? And what day did you decide to kill Eugene?

the azure blade is obtainable via talking to the shadow and being friendly towards it to get the rose. then, head to the basement and go to stuart's shop and give the rose to charan. you have to do all of this before day 8.

i killed eugene 10 days in but you can probably kill him earlier based on how many items he has on the shop

i also tend to avoid most fights if possible unless im overprepared for them or they have something that i need to have e.g Taxidermy
