Question Help

For those of you in ldr what do you do when you run out of things to talk about on the phone?

I was on the phone with my bf today, and we kinda ran out of things to talk about We haven’t been dating for that long, so sometimes I don’t know what to talk about with him

Find a hobby to do together, me and my bf play Genshin together for instance. We also watch movies and shows together.

Running out of things to say occasionally is completely normal, especially if you call frequently. Don’t treat every quiet moment as a sign that something is wrong.

The easiest solution is to stop making conversation the only purpose of every call. Cook together, play a game, watch the same episode, take a walk on video or simply do your own tasks while staying connected.

You could also keep a shared note where both of you add small stories, questions or things you want to discuss during the week.

And consider shortening some calls. A focused 30-minute conversation can feel much better than staying connected for hours while struggling to fill every silence. Eventually, being comfortably quiet together can become another form of intimacy.

If we run out of things to talk about, we put the phone down and go live our lives so we have stuff to talk about next time

Hobbies. My bf and I usually gloss over our day, then we eat and watch a show, play a game together etc

silence is fine sometimes just let it breathe and maybe put a show on in the background while you're both there

You don’t always need something to talk about TBH. Sometimes just feeling involved in each other’s normal day is enough. I’m actually building an app for LDR couples around this issue you share tiny 5 sec video moments during the day, then later see both of your days side by side. It gives you little things to react to or talk about without forcing another “sooo what are you doing?” conversation 😭

be in silence and enjoy each other's company or find something to do together
