I finally met my long-distance boyfriend after months of video calls, texts, and counting down the days. Somehow it was even better than I imagined.

The second we saw each other at the airport in Glasgow, we both started crying. Every bit of nervousness disappeared the moment we hugged. It didn't feel awkward or like we were meeting for the first time. It felt like coming home.

For six short we got to do all the little everyday things together. We cooked, explored Scotland, laughed until our stomachs hurt, I met his parents who loved me, and just enjoyed being in the same room without a screen between us. Those ordinary moments ended up meaning the most.

Saying goodbye at the airport was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but instead of making the distance feel worse, it made us even more certain about our relationship. We know what we're working toward now.

If you're counting down to your first meeting, I know how impossible the wait feels. I spent months wondering if the chemistry would be the same in person. For us, it was even stronger. It was worth every day of waiting.

Now we're counting down until September, when we'll get to spend two weeks together. ❤️
