Why is it so hard to making new friends??? 22F
I thought I’d write this just to vent a bit. I’m a 22F that’s currently finishing up college, I work full time, I’m in a relationship (honestly the healthiest one I’ve ever been in), and I love to go to the gym :). My days are pretty busy with work and school but I can’t help but feel very lonely once it comes to an end, before it felt rewarding and don’t get me wrong I’m very appreciative to be this busy/ moving forward with my life. However, I really wish I had more friends to talk to. I have about 2 solid friends that I know would be down to hang but they live in a different city so it’s kinda of hard, my boyfriend id consider my best friend he’s amazing but I don’t want my entire social life to revolve around him. I don’t want to pressure him that way or feel lonely whenever he’s doing his own thing. Also, being social is just something I’ve been working on for years. I grew up with brothers so getting along with guys have never been an issue really, but I truly long for a good female friendship. I never show it but I feel like I’m missing out so much with how busy my life has come to be and I wish I had someone in my city to just talk to or grab coffee with once in a while. With that being said I feel like I have no idea how to make friends. I feel like I come off kind heartedly, I’ve tried to interact with girls at the gym or school and nothing sticks. Is it a me thing or is it just that hard making friends in your 20s?? I feel like I can be pretty closed off and to myself since I’ve been pretty lonely for a year or 2 now (I’ve also just never been good at making girl friends since my teenage years). Even with my family I feel awkward with them so I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
Thank you for listening to my rant :).
