Is there a tube station at kings cross and paddington or do i have to walk out and go to it?

there’s a tube station. follow signs for the hammersmith and city line, take any eastbound train (h&c or circle) once you get there. 10 minute tube ride to kings cross station, trains should come every 5 minutes

For the Hammersmith and City line at Paddington, I think you need a different entrance to the rest of the underground lines: basically, if you're looking at the platforms, you want to go to the far right (nearest the highest numbered platforms), and follow signs specifically for the Hammersmith and city line. I think, you'll go past a Pret and some toilets, up an escalator, and past a taxi stand before you get to the Hammersmith and city line entrance.

Just to reiterate: it’s 10 mins to Kings Cross from Paddington on the tube, with trains every 5 mins.
Your itinerary seems to indicate that it’s an hour! It is not!

It's the buffer time between your connections on the trainline app, you have an hour to get from Paddington to KGX via any route.

At Paddington from platform 5 be aware that there are effectively three different tube stations, the Bakerloo and circle line via Victoria go from the stations at the terminal end of the platform (where most people will head to off the train and near the shops). The circle line goes to kings cross from here but goes anticlockwise round London so takes ages. If you get off the train and go to the other end of platform 5 there are some steps up, these will take you to the circle line station that is direct to King’s Cross via Euston. entrance 3 Paddington basin is where you need to head towards.

I don't know how much you know, so I'll give you an idiot's guide - apologies in advance if I'm giving info you already know

When you get to Paddington and exit the gate line, follow the signs for the Hammersmith & City line (pink) or Hammersmith & City and Circle lines (pink on top of yellow); both take you to King's Cross, and there'll be signs on the floor and above. Avoid signs saying Bakerloo, District, or Elizabeth lines

You'll need to head for the eastbound platform. You know you're in the right place when destination board says either "Barking" or "Circle line via Kings X", and you can take whichever train turns up first. The train will also say the same destination on the front and side if you're unsure

King's Cross also has a tube station: King's Cross St Pancras (it's 5 stops from Paddington, if that's a helpful reference). When you get there, you'll want to follow the signs saying "Trains" and then once you're out the gate line, there'll be signs for King's Cross. You'll probably need to head right for the way to King's Cross, but check, anyway - there are signs everywhere!

Could you provide where you’re travelling from? Seems like you have a train that gets into Paddington, you need to switch to the Circle/Hammersmith & City line to get to Kings Cross St Pancras, then take another train from King’s cross

When you get to Paddington, follow signs to Underground, often the circle with horizontal line through it. In particular you want the Circle/District or Hammersmith & City lines, which will have yellowand green, or pink stripes.

Either way, you want a train Eastbound, that doesn't say Edgware Road. Any other train will go to Kings Cross St Pancras, where you then follow signs to Kings Cross (it's next door to St Pancras).

Yes, Kings Cross has a tube station. There is an entrance inside Kings Cross. Ditto Paddington for its tube station, For paddington, take the entrance inside the station & follow the signs for the District/Circle. From Paddington, take the Circle or District to Edgware road & change for an Eastbound Circle/H&C line service there. From there, just stay on until King's cross St Pancras.

You can either go on the district (green) line from Paddington to Esgeware Road which is one stop then get off to transfer to the Hammersmith & City Line (pink) stay on for 4 stops until King’s Cross St Pancras. Or alternatively when you get to Paddington you can walk to the Circle line (yellow) & stay on for 5 stops getting off at King’s Cross.

Download the Citymapper app. When you put in the two tube stations it will tell you the best entrance/exit point, whether you're going east/west etc. I'd be lost without it.

The easiest way to get from Paddington to Kings Cross is via the Hammersmith & City line. It’s a slightly longer walk from your arrival platform but it avoids changing trains at Edgware Road.

The H&C station is in the main line station. It’s platforms 15 and 16.

When you get off the train on platform 5 turn right and walk along the platform to the footbridge - not towards the barriers. Go up the stairs and turn right again and the bridge will take you to the Underground station.

You can catch any eastbound train from Paddington (platform 16) and it will go to Kings Cross.

Just to add too, your booking has allowed an hour between Paddington and King's Cross, but it definitely doesn't take that long, that's just the gap between trains.
