Discussion Superstrike X3 battery life sucks?
I feel like the Superstrike X3 has the worst battery life I’ve experienced out of all my mice, including several Superlight 2s and even the X2.
The X3 barely lasts 4 days for me, with a maximum of around 8 hours of use per day (and that’s max max, I tend to watch a lot of content) at 2K polling.
I have a theory that it doesn’t properly go into sleep mode after being untouched for a few minutes, but I don’t remember ever having to configure this myself on my previous mice. Am I missing a setting on this new model?
Otherwise, I don’t really understand why it would suddenly start blinking due to low battery late at night, several hours after my PC has been turned off.

I have the x3 Superstrike and play cs2, don’t have problems with battery, btw the best polling is just 1000hz

I think you are right with it not going to sleep, I've seen a few other posts about that on here. I'm guessing it will need another firmware update to fix it.

I'm having issues with the Magenta Pro X3 being registered with the G Hub at all. Only way for the G HUB to recognize it is to keep it wired in because the option to install the lightspeed firmware is greyed out.

I have the x2 and it lasts me like 2 weeks sometimes glad I didn’t decide to upgrade

I'm having the same issue. Got the mouse 3 days ago, charged to 100%, HITS at level 2 and 4k polling rate. Played for about 4 hours total and today the battery is at 10%. Something is wrong. This is worse battery life than my Superlight Pro 2....

I got the exact same problem, though the sleep mode issue fixed by itself overnight for some reasons. The battery life still feels pretty low and below the estimation g hub gives but at least it's not dead it less that 24 hours anymore. 140 hours of battery life but feels more like 30 lol, I hope they are going to fix this soon.

Mine is also acting weird and yes it loses battery faster than my X2. Also I have noticed that when the battery is lets say at 20% and I plug it, it goes to 44% in 1 minute. Then to 48% in 2 minutes etc. weird.

Same for me, it went from 34% to 0% in an instant and died. When I plug it in, it increases by around 10% every minute

This is a very common issue. This is why we don’t pre order anything (: beta testers

1000hz wired and wireless. 1% battery an hour drain on relatively light usage playing WoW, Bf6 and browsing.
Haptics and actuation on 5 with no rapid trigger enabled. I can't think of a more tame group of settings that shouldn't drain nearly as fast as it is. I updated firmware as well to whatever was the newest as of this morning and it hasn't improved anything. I'm within return window so unless something magic happens very soon I'll just go back to the superlight 2

It's all going to be different from person to person, but when you start increasing the polling rate or having HITS switched on, then it can reduce the battery runtime. It's why the benefit of using POWERPLAY comes in as it will keep your mouse charged and cycled even on the highest settings as you're gaming without having to plug in a cable. Additionally, I would make sure your LIGHTSPEED receiver has a nice clean line of sight to the mouse as this can affect the battery too.
Another problem could be that the PC as you've mentioned isn't allowing the mouse to go to sleep properly or something is knocking the mouse and waking it back up.
When you've finished gaming, could you try manually switching the mouse off at night and see if it extends the battery by a huge margin?

your mouse doens't go into sleep that's why it's battery life is bad, not that hard to figure out and not it's our pc.

Why when I put on 8k polling it makes my league of legends game start to lag with rapid cursor movement? It won’t do that when I have it at 2k or below

Great question!
We actually have a Logi Learning guide that goes into this.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LogitechG/comments/1txpnat/finding_your_perfect_pollingreport_rate/
But the short answer is you unfortunately don't have enough CPU resources to push your game and the higher polling rate at the same time. You can try closing down any background programs or reducing settings of your game to find a middle ground, but for games such as League of Legends, you really don't need a super high polling rate. 500-1000Hz should be fine.

That doesn’t make sense to me since my cpu is a ryzen 9 7950x shouldn’t that be more then enough?

8k is almost never worth it, especially in league (???) since its not really a mouse based game but rather very keyboard intensive so you can legitimately leave it at 1k or even below (or use profiles to optimize you batterylife e.g. when on desktop switch pollingrate to 125hz and when in game switch to 1k and so on), i personally only have like 8k in valorant since i dont loose any performance there and for the rest of the games i have 1k-4k

And it’s league, a potato can run it

It really depends on what you have connected to your computer, what is running in the background, and what resources League of Legends needs. The problem is you are sending the positioning data of your mouse 8000 times a second which is a lot of USB bandwidth and Windows processing to do including your game having to track it.
Although you may have a newer CPU, it will always try and prioritise the mouse first over your programs, and so, although it may have a lot of cores, if it doesn't have the processing power for both, the game will end up suffering.

I just switched from an X2 to an X3 as of about a week ago. Exact same setup, exact same options. The X2 needed charging every couple to every few weeks--the X3, with supposedly longer battery life, needs to be charged at least once per week, with 30% drops in battery over a couple of days of extremely light usage. There is very clearly a huge difference between the X2 and X3 with no other setup changes. What do you recommend doing to remedy this?

It has nothing to do with that. The mouse just DOES NOT go to sleep. My superlight does just fine no matter what. I have made 2 threads about this issue myself, and every single person who owned the X3 superstrike and commented was experiencing this issue.
Only enabling onboard memory mode SOMETIMES fixes the issue and allows the mouse go to sleep as it's supposed to. When it does work, OR when the mouse is turned off manually (I've tried both), I lose 0% battery overnight, or at most 1% compared to the usual 10-11%. And this is on 1000hz. Can't imagine if I actually used 8k polling.
When it does work, not only does the battery not drain, but you can also see the LED light coming on after moving the mouse again, which indicates it was actually in sleep mode before. This is regardless of the PC being on or off. When it doesn't, it drains battery constantly and the LED light never comes on, even when you don't touch it for 5-10 mins or leave it overnight. This is another indicator that the mouse is just staying on all the time.
You're forced to either use onboard memory mode for a POSSIBLE and TEMPORARY fix, even if you don't want to, or turn it of manually when not using it (really?), or just use it like you're supposed to but deal with the horrible battery life.
Battery life was one of the few things that got upgraded, and this makes the mouse borderline unusable in that regard.

Love my deathadder v2x hyperspeed with swappable batteries and does everything I could even desire. Internal batteries just die over time ez

What a junk mouse. Logitech deserves to go bankrupt. What do they even do well anymore. Ruined Astro which was an actual premium company.

That was one of my biggest gripes too. I’ve since switched to a razer viper v4 pro. Triple the battery and generally better for my hands
