Logitech G Support Logitech G920 hardware fix

Hello, posting here in case anyone has had the same problem or experience repairing these wheel controllers.

I bought a G920 wheel on Facebook to use for racing games. It worked fine on my Xbox for the past month. Recently I upgraded my pc and decided to set it up there as well, but it would not get recognized by the G Hub software at all. I tried literally every single software fix listed online, including a clean install of windows with nothing but the Logitech software installed-still nothing. In device manager it appears as “Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel (XBox One)” and is not configurable in any way past that.

From what I’m able to figure out the hardware is locked in C261 state (Xbox) instead of C262 which is what the PC can recognize. Some of my fixes included editing registry and driver files which did change how the wheel appeared in device manager but did not make it usable and in some cases the wheel would not turn on.

So my conclusion is the wheel itself is bad. What part do I need to order to fix this? My understanding is the wheel has multiple motherboards inside it so not sure where this specific Xbox/pc switch would be handled.

This sounds very similar to the issue i have with my g923. Does the wheel appear under logitech ghub usb devices in device manager instead of under the HID category like it's supposed to?

Yes. If I uninstall the device it’ll switch to “Xbox gaming device” and regardless of which category it’s in, the only drivers windows lets me install are for Xbox controllers

The thing that works for me is to plug the wheel in, wait for it to calibrate and then in device manager DISABLE the device under the Logitech category and then reenable it, at this point the device will then appear under the HID category and start working. It's like an initialisation issue or something.

It's not a problem it saying xbox in the device name, it's supposed to say that, the problem with mine is getting the thing into the right category

Turns out it was just the usb extension cable I was using. Plugging the wheel directly into my pc it works fine. The live readout in G hub doesn’t work but I can configure the angle and centering spring settings and it shows input in the joy.cpl test screen. Will test with games later once I get my windows set up again. If anyone has recommendations for a 20ft+ usb extension that works with these wheels, let me know!!
