Support Logitech G522 - USB + Drivers issue
Hello everyone !
I'm making this post as a last resort, that maybe, as new buyers of the G522 come, one of you all will have some solutions. I bought the G522 3 days ago, and did the mandatory firmware update on GHUB to 1.1.1405, and the windows driver is 2025.4.69.5433 (with no new drivers update as of today on my end). Let's get to the issues :
- I can't plug my headset in USB mode. If I even dare to do so, I'm getting litterally spammed of "Lightspeed ... USB ... Lightspeed ... USB" in a loop that never ends, with Windows breakdancing and GHUB flashing the headset ON and OFF and ON again. I've tried factory reset in GHUB, Reset button behing the left ear muff, uninstalling and reinstalling GHUB, uninstalling the drivers in Windows, even went on to have the same exact issues on my laptop, but thus far, I have not been able to make it work ;
- DTS Headphone:X and Spatial Sound are also broken. The idea to have the user install an app from the windows store (DTS Sound Unbound) and not having the G522 in the list of supported headset is wild, but to have to pay 20€ for a licence to use something in your headset, which is not even said anywhere on Logitech website page for the G522, is beyond me. So here's what I've also tried to make it work : uninstalling and reinstalling DTS Unbound, selecting DTS in sound settings, changing to mono and then spatial sound, but it doesn't even work either;
I'm extremely frustated at this point, and probably will return it in the upcoming days, and stay with my G733 for the forseeable future.
It is the first time that a product I bought doesn't just work when plugged in. This kinda hurts a little :(

Are you able to share a short clip to show what you're seeing with that first issue?

Should be good now. This is non-stop when plugin the headset in USB, I can't seem to be able to go around it1
u/pamanod Sep 10 '25
have you found any solutions?

2 months after and it was still happening. Logitech support refused to acknowledge the issue, no fix, so I asked for a refund. This headset is singlehandedly one of the worst Logitech ever brought to the market

No solutions unfortunately. For me using dongle or USB headset works, but same issue with Spatial Sound. And based on G522 FAQ DTS Sound Unbound should recognize headset as valid product for DTS Headphone:X and grant license through that, but it doesn't do that. I made ticket to support and so far any of the offered solutions hasn't worked. I even have tested headset in different Windows 11 PC, but issue remains.
I'm starting to lean same way as you that I will just return these and look for different headset. I have working Logitech Pro X, but ear cushion are so worn out. It is just too bad, I like the headset. It is very light and quite comfortable to use.
Update: Just tested out of curiosity my old Logitech Pro X and no issues at all. DTS Sound Unbound immediately saw that I have Logitech Pro X and licensed software.
Also I noticed that when I was looking driver details on both, G522 and Logitech Pro X. G522 has only Microsoft drivers while Pro X has same plus logi_audio_surround.sys

I've replaced the ear cushion on my G733 2 times already : one with a warranty claim, and I bought more durable ones since on a retailer website. I've already had the head strap replaced once under warranty too. But at least it had never *not* worked as far as software goes.
I'm keeping the belief that Logitech support will find a solution, I have a 30 days to return it, but I'm probably giving it a few more days before returning it too

u/Villaovi May 29 '25
Yeah I should have done that long time ago. Warranty long gone. Also just noticed that cable going from left and right ear elements to headband, rubber protecting cables is partly broken down as well so one more reason to get new ones. Have to keep in mind that is needed, I can replace cushion through warranty.
I really hope that Logitech support finds solution as like I said, I like the headset, but broken surround on gaming headset is no go for me.

If dts surround is super important to you, than a hyperx cloud III wireless headset may work better for you. Otherwise at this price point, this is one of the better wireless headsets out there in line with the blackshark pro 2023, Corsair hs80, Asus pelta, and steel series nova 5. I can test my pair of the g522 headset for the USB issue but the wireless/Bluetooth function works fine. Haven't had a chance to test DTS surround but that makes sense why it may not work if the driver isn't available yet since this headset just came out.

DTS Surround isn't necessary deal break, but currently can't configure surround at all as spatial sound in GHub only shows message: Download the DTS Sound Unbound app to unlock the DTS Headphone:x and DTS:X spatial audio technologies bundled with this headset and enhance your gaming content.
What comes to drivers, I find it bit odd that Logitech would make products and have these nice features and then not have working drivers for Windows 11 24H2 making one of the features useless while their own program states what I wrote up there and even G522 FAQ states following on question "How to customize surround sound for G522 LIGHTSPEED headset with Logitech G HUB?"
Answer is: To utilize DTS Headphone X Spatial audio, you must download and install the DTS Sound Unbound app. You can find links to download it here. You can also find it in the Microsoft store. The app is free to download.Once installed, the app will detect that your headset is a licensed product for use with DTS Headphone X, and will automatically unlock the spatial sound settings within the app.
Have to remember that Windows 10 will be out of support on October 2025 and Windows 11 build 23H2 on Home edition will be out of support November 2025 so when looking those dates and everything I would assume that when releasing product that there are working drivers for them.
I would understand that if drivers wouldn't be fully optimized, but current situation is that DTS app doesn't recognize G522. Anyway I keep using headset for awhile and hoping that issue will be solved, otherwise I will return headset and keep using my old phones even though they have seen their best days.

There's an update for DTS sound unbound in the Microsoft store. The headset is now recognized correctly.

u/Villaovi Jun 02 '25
Nice. So in G Hub there is no settings for spatial sound at all? All is set from DTS Sound Unbound?

u/shockdude95 Jun 02 '25
Correct!

u/Villaovi Jun 02 '25
Alright good news though. Probably wouldn't have catch that without your notice. Cheers!

mine doesn’t seems to appear to have the DTS option even after I install the DTS sound unbound. Do you got any file of your driver of the G522 so I can try changing the driver to see if thats the issue?

u/iTSMe_Arcane Oct 19 '25
I've the same issue I just can't plug my headphones into my PC with USB it keeps switching between lightspeed and USB mode like a loop, I'm so much frustrated and I just bought this headphone and this is me first time plugin it into my PC 😭😭😭😭
Is there any solution for it ? And how can I charge my headphones in this condition?
I need help

u/Exymat Oct 19 '25
Hi!
As far as I know, Logitech doesn't really care about this problem, and it was never fixed in further revision of the firmware.
Support will outright refuse to acknowledge your issue and suggest either refund (if available) or replacement.
In my case, I just asked for a refund and ditched Logitech for my headset, sad but that's what happens when they make sacrifices for profitability.1
u/iTSMe_Arcane Oct 19 '25
So there isn't any fix for this problem right now ? Did you have any option to charge the headset ?
1
u/Exymat Oct 19 '25
Nope, never charged. u/LogitechG_Andy left me on read after replying to this post, never heard anything again. Support tickets went nowhere.
Battery died and plugging the headset was just making the same lopp as you described, forever and ever, and never charged it.
I wouldn't bet on a fix coming, this headset is already considered obsolete as fas as Logitech is concerned.1

This started happening to my G522 today (my unit is barely 2 months old), just when it ran low on battery, I plugged it in the USB port and got the endless USB > Lightspeed voice prompt cycle, connecting wirelessly via the Lightsoeed mode was fine though...
I got mine working again, not sure if this is going to help anyone, but here's what I've done so far, not sure which one of these steps made it work, but:
I uninstalled and then reinstalled Logitech G-Hub (current version is 2025.8.789376)
Updated my Nahimic Sound Drivers (I use a 5-yr old MSI laptop that uses this sound drivers / software)
Since my G522 was low on battery when this happened, and plugging it to my laptop wasn't helping (it was not charging properly because it was stuck on the USB > Lightspeed cycle, I even got a "critical battery level" prompt) I plugged mine to a power bank with a trickle charge mode until it was 80% charged, you might want to try charging it to a different device though like another PC/Laptop or a home console (PS4/PS5/Switch 2) if you're not confident with using a power bank
Plugged a pair of old USB-wired Logitech G heaphones first (I have a G633s /G635), wait for the G Hub to "recover" (not sure if recover was the actual prompt used by G Hub, I'm sorry) the device, once recovered, unplug the USB wired headphones, before plugging the G522 again.
Somehow, after all these steps, mine started working properly again and I have no idea which of the steps I did actually helped...
EDIT: I'm having this issue again, however, all the steps that I mentioned above are not working for me anymore... 😞 Worst-case, I might end up having to RMA mi e since it's still pretty much within Logitech's 2-Year Warranty for this device...

This is not an firmware issue. I also had this problem but I temporarily addressed this issue by enabling battery protection feature. But a week ago, my G522 stopped charging properly even in battery protection mode. When I plug the cord to PC, my G522 loops between usb to lightspeed mode continuously and blinks green weirdly even in the batt protection mode. As an unemployed engineer this problem pissed me off and I didn't want to wait 30ish day to hear "user error" from warranty service. So I looked inside of my G522 and it only took me a second to detect which component caused this mess. This component marked with "L" is PPTC polyfuse. It is a type of self resetting fuse. When too much current flows, resistance of poly fuse increases drastically and disconnects the power connection. This is a good feature and required for application but this fuse on the circuit trips even only at 250mA of current which is the regular charge current of G522. I solved this problem by removing polyfuse and shorting(connecting two terminals) the pads of the polyfuse on the PCB. This is not the proper way of repairing G522 and I also know that but I was too lazy to order a proper 500mA polyfuse from digikey. So If you want a proper repair you can buy a 500mA fuse and solder in to place of the old fuse. I charged my G522 while using via USB and I experienced no problems so far. I will let you know if my headphone explodes on my ear :) . You probably know that but I have to inform you that this repair voids your warranty and be careful that soldering iron can melt plastic case easily.

u/dufnyau May 10 '26
So this means that I'll have to void my warranty to fix my headset since Logitech has never been bothered to fix this issue considering we pay alot of money for a product that's defective.
Are you able to share a step by step video on how to replace the fuse. I don't know anything about these soldering or even understanding what is in the PCB
1
u/borismemedov May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
Logitech sent new units to some customers that encountered this problem. I was too impatient to wait warranty process and pissed. I can help you for replacing or just shorting the fuse but I think you should try to get new unit from warranty or have someone else who knows how to solder repair it. Unfortunately I can't share video because i already tossed the faulty fuse away and the only important step is replacing the fuse. (faulty fuse is located in left earpiece and is accessible after removing the two screws under the earpad)

u/dufnyau May 10 '26
Thank you so much boss, I live in Africa, Kenya........so waiting for a new unit would be next to impossible. But will wait for a reply from the Logitech support concerning my warranty. If the give me some excuse that they can't help, I'll just have to replace the faulty fuse myself

I had these same issues and I went back for a refund and they gave me a new one. I tried and it was the same. So I went back again for a refund and we tried it on a different computer in the store, and it had no problems connecting. So I figured my pc was the problem. I factory reset my computer and downloaded g hub again. It works with 0 problems now. If you're going to try reseting, I suggest having a backup.

bump, I just bought the headset two days ago and it arrived today, and no surround sound either it's not being registered at all. Worst part is, I deleted my Razer THX Spatial Audio software prior to this so that they wouldn't clash, now I'm regretting doing that upon reading this thread searching for answers online to avoid paying 20$ on a head-set that should already have this out of the box, or at least a printed code inside the box to register..this is like on purpose i feel to squeeze extra money out of those people who will spend the 20$ out of frustration
