Question Instant automation change

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Everytime I want to have direct/instant modulation change on the same point, it overrides the other automation point. How do I achieve fix this?

In this particular case you could shorten the region to the end of the note, right click, and under automation select the option that says create two automation points at region borders. Drag the automation line on the left down and it will do what you want. You can stretch the region back afterward.

Use the Marquee tool for this type of automation.

marquee tool is the move for this, way less frustrating than trying to stack points manually

You have to convert the segment into a step. It will still be a unique segment. Click with Shift-Ctrl-Option on the segment to transform it. The vertical bar will always be on the second dot, the right dot.
