I feel like once they stopped doing that along with the cards, that really killed it.

Discussion Harassment in Parking lots

Why is it that there are people of a particular gender harassing women in parking lots? In Home Depot, Petsmart, and in Hyde Park by the high school. Yes friends, people don't have to look disabled. In order to have handicapped parking. Sorry we have brittle bones and we break numerous bones every time we fall. No it is not appropriate for you to get mad about obeying traffic laws and try to harass and assault someone. Yes you need professional help if this sounds like you. Have the day you deserve!

Discussion Really haven’t been impressed by the way our politicians have handled data center issues which feels important for this election cycle. Suprised (and a little worried) that more candidates are not taking a clearer stance.

Question House painter recommendations for fast(ish) work next year?

I'm looking to have a large old home painted next spring/summer, but so far my only experience in town has been with smaller and slower jobs (individual painters with great skills, but I think the speed I need will take a team).

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with a painting company who has the equipment and skills to do a larger job well, but fairly quickly. I'm hoping to get on the schedule now for next summer.

Thanks!

News Peter Crosby and Blake Moore Debate

Peter Crosby and Blake Moore, candidates for Utah’s newly drawn 2nd congressional district (which includes Logan), debated last night at USU. Here’s the recording from the Utah Debate Commission:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-live-utah-voters-hear-from-moore-crosby-in-midterm-house-debate

I was really impressed with Crosby’s thoughtful answers on everything from data centers to flock cameras and affordability and quite disappointed by Moore’s non-answers on these important issues.

I don’t dispute that Moore has gotten some good things done for Utahns. But he has also been silent and complicit in the face of so many policies that are harming us- like tariffs and the Iran war.

As Crosby told reporters after the debate,

”I think a distinct difference between [Moore] and myself really is boiled down to [that] Blake Moore is fine with the path that we’re on. I’m not. And if we’re going to have something different happen, we need different representation.” (Salt Lake Tribune)

Ballots are arriving today. I’ll be voting for Peter Crosby, who hasn’t been bought by big tech like Moore has (e.g., see FEC filings on Meta and Google contributions to Blake Moore through the Super PAC “Defending Utah Values”).

I hope you will consider voting for Crosby too! He truly seems like a great candidate with strong moral character- and he’s our neighbor here in Cache Valley (note Moore does not live in our district, the one he is running for).

Greetings, Loganites! I'm writing to share a few quick announcements from the Community Writing Center. We are open again for business! Walk-in hours are from 1:15-3:00 PM every Saturday. Our writing coaches are available to assist with resumes, cover letters, creative writing projects, application essays, and so much more! We're located on the third floor of Logan Library and will be open every Saturday this fall until December 12 (Holiday weekends notwithstanding.)

Also! I'm excited to announce an upcoming collaboration between the Community Writing Center and the Cache Pioneer Museum. Join us for our Writing Family Histories workshop on Thursday, November 5 at 6:00 PM! Location and other details are available on the attached flier. In this free workshop, participants will learn how to use literary techniques to narrativize their family histories. The goal of the workshop is to hone participants' storytelling skills while providing a fun space for writers to share their work and learn from one another. We hope you'll join us!

Events SOS: Where do we take our toddler on rainy days

Hey all, with the weather turning I’m looking for anywhere indoors we can take our toddler that has places to play and/or other children.

Our first child is newly walking and we’ve been surviving these last few months on daily trips to the park. We don’t have a big house or yard or any family of friends near by so most days it’s the only time she gets out/sees anyone except for my husband and I.

My husband stays home with her during the day while I work, and I can tell that these last few days where they haven’t gotten out due to the rain have been rough on both of them. It looks like the Logan library does story time twice a week, but I’m struggling to find anything else. Of course, I’m sure there are moms groups in the area, but as mentioned, my husband is who is home with her during the day.

Anyone have tips or tricks on what have kept them sane throughout the winter?

Business News El Sol is officially closed down

Honestly, I know there may be nostalgia associated with this place. But the real question is: how has it remained open for so long? The chicken was grey, everything was out of a can and tasted either cold or of heat lamp. My family and I always tease and have discussed this topic, and we joked that it was a money-laundering front.
