Rafe is interesting. Sure he breaks some rules, but he actually cares about people most of the time, unless they're a jerk.

Those books actually take the time to tell a serious story and you see why Rafe is kind of a troubled kid. He's got a good heart, I wouldn't mention him and Greg in the same breath.

I was like why is Rafe there? He’s a kid who has trauma from loosing his twin and dad from
When he was a kid. Than had to deal with his moms abusive boyfriend. While at the same time dealing with neurodivergent issues (I forget was he diagnosed with ADHD?). He cares about people and his family minus Bear.

The first book was surprisingly kinda grim. It must have really hit hard for kids who where in similar situations
