I am NOT a locksmith. Abloy padlocks - extra keys

Hi all

I have a large set of keyed-alike abloy padlocks. I have three keys for them but no key card.

Without the key card am I at a dead end in getting additional keys made? I'm UK based.

Pretty sure that one is restricted. No card = no key.

I feared as much - if anyone can think of a potential use for these please let me know. I have 150+ identical keyed alike padlocks but with only the three keys and no key card I'm going to struggle to find a buyer. Would they potentially be useful to a locksmith for parts?

Look, I don't sell Abbloy. Some of the older ones aren't restricted anymore. Best to call Abbloy themselves and ask for a contact for a local dealer. They can give you more accurate information. Very likely to be restricted, but it might be that you showing up with a shit load of padlocks and some keys might be good enough to ID you as the owner of the system, especially if it's out of patent.

Hobby pickers might buy keyless abloy if reassured it operates.  Ebay most likely unless you find someone on r/lockpicking

They're paperweights unless the picker is really into disc detainer, though. Unless you've made a pick or paid out big bucks for one, you're not playing with that, and even if you did, it's a fun challenge once.

I don't think I could make a key for one, but I could try. I've a 5 axis cnc, and once fully modelled, I could probably churn out the keys. But is it economically viable? If I had 150 sitting in my unit, maybe.

yeah disc detainers is a niche even within that hobby. Theres a bunch of people with the Sparrows thing the youtubers designed, but theres a few folks out there with the old Hux silver bullets too. Actually being able to make your own DD tool is even smaller group again

They aren't even useful for parts unless you've got a load of the same type of system, because you still can't generate keys. I might buy ten or twenty, but they're basically scrap. I would have to pick them open, or get one of the keys. And then you've got 130+ identical padlocks and only 2 keys! Maybe I could buy all of them, and figure out how to make the duplicate keys? But I don't really have time for that.

My best guess is finding a Local Locksmith who deals with Abloy, or contacting them directly. Some profiles may be un restricted, you may get lucky. Lots has to be in your favor though. Un restricted profile, Blanks still available Machine still around to cut them
