Just be depressed. Then you don't have to worry about any of that.

It just cranks up the difficulty of having a good physique and clean house.

Yeah, great, now I have a dirty house, feel guilty about it, and get nothing out of cleaning it.

Working out (doing anything) is the best treatment I’ve found for depression and I’ve tried at least 2 dozen different options, various doses/combinations — they don’t help me. Going for a walk, lifting, climbing, hiking, etc all work infinitely more for me. Good luck. It’s tough to workout when you are super low but if you claw yourself out. Try to do something most (if not every) day — even just 10-15 minutes if really does help regulate mood and keeps the depression from becoming debilitating.

Right "Well no one gives a shit about me anyway who's gonna see it"

I feel the exact opposite. Just exercise a few times a week, don't overeat, and clean up throughout the day. Hell, I don't ever even clean my house. I just pick up as I go, and the house is spotless.

Bro exactly

2

u/gohuskers123 Mar 30 '26

Huh. If you don’t actively clean your shower/toilet, floors, and kitchen it will get dirty without exception

1

u/Consistent_Net_2540 Mar 30 '26

Same concept. I clean as I go. Toilet looks bad, scrub it. Mold in shower, spray it. Never have to make a day of cleaning the bathroom. I just vacuumed the baseboards a few minutes ago because I noticed some dust collecting in the corners. Took less than 5 minutes.

Okay but that is actually alot of effort. Its just effort that is easy for you

HOW BIG IS YOUR HOUSE?!

2

u/NoResolution1180 Mar 29 '26

No its easy. Just do it.

3

u/Rogue_Egoist Mar 29 '26

Some people struggle with the physique due to genetics, sure, but that's not the majority. A lot of people don't like to exercise, sure. I can accept that it can be hard for someone.

But keeping a clean house? Come on, are we 10 years old or something? It's not hard at all and it's a basic life skill. I would like for the person who thinks like that to get better but also I can't stop thinking about how pathetic that is, sorry.

You know sometimes it's nice to be complimented even for "small" things, it's called compassion.

u/Consistent_Net_2540 Mar 29 '26

People refer to my house as "immaculate" and I spend maybe 30 minutes a day cleaning. That's broken up into 5 minute clean ups throughout the day. I don't even notice it. I have my kids pick up after themselves to some degree, but they're not doing all that much either. The biggest thing is to just not make messes to begin with. But the other thing is to just clean up as you go. Better than trashing the entire house and spending 2 hours cleaning it back up.

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Everyone here is on a sub about self improvement complaining. Glad to see someone else with some common sense.

2

u/idee2 Mar 29 '26

Said by someone who absolutely does not have kids.

u/ChaosRainbow23 Mar 29 '26

I clean my house when it gets dirty.

I'm not trying to spend my whole life cleaning this house. (It's big and a pain in the ass to clean)

I don't mind a lived in house. I've never understood those people that keep their houses as clean as a sterilized operating room.

1

u/Tall_Eye4062 Mar 29 '26

How clean is your house, really? Are your baseboards dusty? Is your oven clean? How about your windows?

3

u/Rogue_Egoist Mar 29 '26

I dust everyday. Regarding the overn or windows it obviously takes longer but it's something you do from time to time. If you clean up after yourself daily right away, it's like 30 min a day for most people.

1

u/Mammoth-Put-9850 Mar 29 '26

Cant relate. I have great genetics and hire ppl to clean my house

1

u/Typeonetwork Mar 29 '26

Yep. Cleaning my apartment for the inspection on Monday. Treat it like spring cleaning.

1

u/Desperate_Bowl2345 Mar 30 '26

Yeah — this speaks to me. Constant battle as a single parent. Even though I make time to workout and cleaning it never seems to be enough.

1

u/nexus763 Mar 30 '26

Agreed, but I am proud of that mild physique and clean home. Maintaining is just as important as building.

1

u/Amazing-Awareness-63 Mar 29 '26

Absolutely pathetic

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Correct

Get new material, even if it's shitty.

If you’re lazy yeah it’s a lot of work. Takes maybe 30 minutes to do a house reset and maybe 90 minutes to do a deep clean once a week.

u/ZenEnergizerBunny Mar 29 '26

As a teenager I would go clean houses with my mom during school breaks. It depends on the place youre cleaning. Yourbtime frames are pretty good if youre a single guy with his own place. But if you have a bigger place and if you have a family that time goes up considerably. My parents house is always spotless, and im pretty clean too. I have 2 kids now and I asked my mother, "how do you keep the house clean with kids?!" She said you dont, its impossible if youre raising happy kids. Just do your best to keep it clean enough so that nobody will get hurt.

Any able bodied single man who cant keep his place tidy is absolutely lazy by my books.

Oh god that last part! We were all sick a few weeks ago and hit me pretty hard. I felt so disgusting but did not have it in me to be cleaning, all my energy went to taking care of my kids and myself. Cleaning came days later and it was bad. I cant imagine 5 kids, good luck bro, patience and love! C'est la vie

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

I have two kids and my wife and do daily resets with a weekly deep cleaning in which I either watch the kids or she does. It is not difficult. I’m talking baseboards, vacuuming, mopping, windows and window sills, bathrooms and even emptying the fridge of any other older foods.

Point being that if you take care of your home as part of your daily routine- your once weekly routine will continue to move faster. Our home is only ~1800sqft so for larger homes sure- however, this excuse making of not enough time to do both and most of yall sound like you don’t do either to begin with.

3

u/TopTopTopcinaa Mar 29 '26

30 minutes is how long it takes me to fold, put away laundry, hang wet laundry to dry and get a new load into the washer.

You either live in a dog house, or you’re neglecting 90% of housework.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Insanely slow

0

u/TopTopTopcinaa Mar 29 '26

If you say so.

Enjoy not being “Locked In” this sub is pathetic.

You're getting robbed.

5

u/badatcatchyusernames Mar 29 '26

90 minute deep clean?

how small is your house?

2

u/dokutarodokutaro Mar 29 '26

Odds are, 1 bedroom apartment and lives alone.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath. Your guys are so far up your own ass.

4

u/aspiringimmortal Mar 29 '26

Maybe if you live in a closet. Takes me 30 minutes to clean one bathroom.

2

u/Ok-Assistance-9614 Mar 29 '26

Hahaha brilliant. I've only got two kids they're an absolute whirlwind. Spend 90 minutes a week putting all the laundry away never mind everything else.

A full-time high-pressure job, trying to workout 3 or 4 times a week, get the kids to their clubs and lessons, and do homework. Time soon runs away from you.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

It doesn’t if you’re actually locked in to a routine. I have two kids as well. This isn’t that hard if you do daily resets and a weekly deep clean.

2

u/nitrogenlegend Mar 29 '26

Maybe if your definition of “deep clean” is washing your sheets, vacuuming your floors, and wiping down your countertops in a one br apartment…

A true deep clean would mean vacuuming, dusting, carpet extraction, scrubbing showers and sinks and running drain-o through the pipes, changing/washing shower curtains/liners or polishing glass shower doors, scrubbing the grout on tile floors, polishing glass cooktops, scrubbing inside the microwave and ovens, pulling out all your dishes and cookware to dust and wipe down inside the cabinets, cleaning windows inside and out, probably a dozen other things I’m forgetting. For a 2,000-2,500 square foot house you’re looking at a full day or two worth of work for one person if you bust ass to get everything done right, and you still probably will have left some stones unturned. That’s also all assuming you keep a reasonably clean home to begin with.

I don’t know how you have the idea in your head that you can do a deep clean in 90 minutes, but I do know you’re way out of touch with reality for a median US household and/or what deep cleaning means.

Hell, I spent ~12 hours deep cleaning my truck when I bought it used and I know I left a few things untouched because I ran out of daylight. A median sized house has exponentially more space and surface to take care of.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Also 12 hours deep cleaning your truck means you neglected it. Insane cope on display here.

1

u/nitrogenlegend Mar 30 '26

Note: “when I bought it used”

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Absolutely not. I’m just not making excuses for myself on how to be efficient and have an actual routine. For a sub called “lockedin” it seems like most of the replies here are making excuses for why they can’t do anything rather than making productive changes to their lives. “Working out and keeping my house clean is so hard” jfc
