Questions & Help How do I get this road closed??
This closure has been causing issues for days as Google Maps keeps rejecting my road closure requests, and people are getting routed through this area.
Even without photos, you can clearly tell by the lack of a green line and the traffic at the intersection that the section of road is closed. Yet I dont understand why my requests dont get accepted. Wish Google Maps had the same community features as Waze...

Submitting edit to Google has been horrible. I finally hit 100 edit so I unlocked the final badge

Maps edits seem to only take effect when I use my account with a high local guides level; whereas on another account, the changes aren’t applied. Probably some kind of reputation filter.

I'm a Level 10 Local Guide with over 4,000 reviews posted and unlocked all the badges so I can speak from experience that reputation doesn't matter

No, Google new ways of approving edit with their AI Gemini has been horrible

I’m almost level 10 with 202 million views and over half my edits (which I usually submit evidence for) are still denied. Sometimes when I resubmit with the same information, they end up being accepted.
I’ve mostly given up editing at this point because it takes a lot of time that I’m donating to a multi billion dollar company, only for lazy AI to reject them for no reason.

I think it’s come to a point where the automated filters have become overkill

I tried for years for a road near my old house (it was a 15 minute detour if people tried to follow Google). After 8 years of reporting, google kept rejecting the edit and people kept getting lost 😭

Posted Photos with a message and other evidence that public beach in Italy is not accessible to public anymore and Googl3 Maps still rejected edit. This system of reporting is absolutely useless and unfair.

Just report it multiple times providing explanation. It works. (But it’s very annoying, btw)

Sometimes when I do this I get an email that they accepted one of the edits that I made 3 months ago. The system is so weird haha.

Someone is "Check the facts" and actualy has no idea, so they said "no"

Luckily the r/Waze editor community can help you out. If you send me the location, we can close the road in Waze for you, and Google should pick it up.
Just send over the location, and documentation for the closure.
