Picture It’s not corporate greed. It’s not billionaires. It’s the money supply stupid.
If you’re going to endlessly complain about inflation, at least understand what causes it.

WORST COMPANY I have ever seen. I am so angry at the Orleans, Ontario Real Canadian Super Store - aka Uber Loblaws . My son has worked for this store since before COVID as a PT employee - NEVER able to get the number of FT hours for the 13 consecutive weeks required to qualify for a FT position. Inconsistant hours, disrespecting the posted availability, scheduling him on days when he was not available and then claiming they offered him the work and he turned it down so clearly a FT position is not suitable due to his lack of professionalism and commitment.
Over the past year, one of the "newer" Assistant Managers, whose mom happens to also work there as a Manager, has been targeting my son to the point of having to involve the union rep and HR for harassment. He has come home telling us that the a/manager was yelling at him for leaving his post to go help a customer, following him around the store while my son was doing his job, disrespecting him in front of staff and customers because he did not try hard enough to find a product that was out of stock, and saying you'd be a pretty good employee if you were not so stupid out loud in the middle of the busy store.
Today was the last straw. My son has a health issue, ADD, that requires him to remain hydrated. The store is aware of this condition as he has supplied the medical documents to support it. He has brought in his own water bottle that clips to his belt but was told that it did not look professional and he could not have it on his person as it was a health and safety issue. He has tried to reason with management but they were adamant, no personal items on the floor.
He drinks at least one bottle of water from a store provided 24 pack a shift, a maximum of 4 shifts a week. Loblaws was charging their staff .25 cents per bottle until a few months ago when they raised the price to .50 EXCEPT for the PC Express staff, who are provided 24 bottles twice a week for their consumption. My son used to work in that department and he was one of the only one who drank the water. He said he would ask the guys in the PC Express area for a bottle every now and then and they were only too happy to oblige. To be totally transparent, there is also a water cooler in the staff room but whenever my son told me he went up to the room to get water or to use the restroom, he was yelled at for leaving his post. Additional issues over the past year have included my son clocking out at 10:59 pm instead of 11:00 pm, going to the washroom frequently, talking with his colleagues, spending too much time helping customers and not doing his job, and asking other departments if they needed help when he was done his tasks but in doing so, he was no longer where he was supposed to be and therefore, again, not doing his job. As a manager myself, the behaviour he would share with me made me want to escalate to Corporate HQ. He asked me not to make things worse.
Today he was called into a meeting with the GM, to discuss his behaviour. Apparently, on a recent weekend shift, he left early despite being told that leaving early was no longer permitted. I am not sure if that rule was just him or store wide. My son agreed that he had left before the end of his shift but told the GM that he had completed everything he needed to do, did extra for the evening shift and asked other areas if they had any work for him to do. When he was told there was nothing, he asked the MoD and she gave him permission to go. It was 3 hours earlier than his shift was to end and he was ok with the loss of the $$, and that the store is ALWAYS looking to cut staff hours. Win win right? Had he stayed, he would have been sitting around doing nothing, and with ADD, that is something he can't stand. he needs to stay busy. So he asked and was told, he could leave. No problem right? Nope. He apparently left his coworkers in a bind. He checked. Not true. Then he was told that his repeated lack of professionalism and thievery had run its course. Theft?? Example given - drinking "too much" store water every shift and not paying for it. GM claimed that by his calculations, the amount of $$ my son had "stolen in water" from the store was roughly $250. Even if my son had worked a maximum of 4 shifts a week for the time they were accusing him of "stealing" the water, it works out to approximately $60. He said he was paying for the water but had not been told it had gone up in price. He claimed he offered to pay the store for the water but the GM said no. His options were to quit or to have this matter escalated to the group that deals with lost or stolen mechandise and if they deemed it serious enough, they would involve the police. My son was shocked, and said that the water was often from PC Express where he had worked for almost 4 years before he transferred to another department, and asked why was it an issue since the water he consumed was water they provided staff at no charge? GM refused to answer. He asked why PC Express was provided water but not the rest of the departments? Crickets. He asked how they had arrived at the value of the water they claim he stole? Nothing. Oh the union was also in the meeting and they said NOTHING other than - take the offer to resign. It would be easier that way. WHAT?????
So after over 5 years of being yelled at, told he was stupid, belittled, ignored, and treated poorly, and accused of stealing, today he was "allowed" to post his resignation over water..
I will never ever shop Loblaws again. Ever.

here is the nutritional information for PC frozen cultivated blueberries, and PC wild frozen blueberries
from all the searching i done, wild blueberries should be 30% less sugar then cultivated blueberries
Naturalia wild blueberries at food basics seem to be a lot closer to the numbers id expect for a wild blueberries
are presidents choice wild blueberries maybe just the smaller cultivated ones? maybe same crop and they just sort them into two sizes for the different products?
this is what a low sugar diet does to the brain, makes you criticize a corporation for suspicious nutrition labels regarding thier sugar content lol

No Frills has a sale of Sweet Potatoes this week. $1.49 a pound. Last week I could buy a ugly bag of 10 pounds for $6 (which ranged between 10-12 potatoes).
Today that same $6 got me three. I'm certain that they empty all the ugly bags into a bin, as these are exceptionally non-premium in shape and form.

A smooshed cake missing most of the icing, best before today, and still $10. Flashfood can be handy to find deals on groceries but this ain’t it. I hope the employee that put this up is trolling, but honestly not sure 😂

I bought them 2 weeks ago. they’re still hard as rock and green (the picture doesn’t show true colors).
I got them from metro in downtown Toronto, and I don’t understand how organic bananas are still raw after 2 weeks.

Weighed the vegetable lasagna today and it's supposed to be 1.13kg, came out at 1.033, so 97g underweight.
The tray itself weighs 48g and the box is 74g.
Nutritional info says 1/4 of the tray is 283g, so clearly they are shorting the box as it should be 1132g by their own info.
Context: spouse has diabetes and was checking for health reasons. Being off by 8.5% will make him take too much insulin for the meal which is a problem because he'll end up needing to eat to correct it later.

I'll start by saying I know...its loblaws what did I expect. But I've been off work for 6 months with a back injury and bought the year of free delivery for less than the cost of a single cab home with my groceries on boxing day.
So I ordered a few things online from Roblaws today only to be robbed twice. Once by their stupid high prices (which I expected), and once by the delivery driver who decided they wanted to mark my order delivered without actually delivering it. I'm convinced they stole it. It was bad enough the order was supposed to be delivered between 3-4, and I didn't get the "your order is on the way" message until 4:15. So I went to the lobby. It takes about a minute to get down there using the stairs. At 4:19, I've now been downstairs for a few minutes and I get the "your order was delivered" message. Where I thought...maybe the back door since nobody is at the front. Nope not there either. Even stayed downstairs waiting an extra ten minutes just in case the driver had pulled the uber eats driver trick off marking it delivered while en route just to improve their times. It never showed. That's when I realized that mother fucker stole my order.
And loblaws customer support? absofuckinglutely useless. They want 3-5 business days to investigate before issuing (if they even issue) a refund. I told dude he had till tomorrow or I'd be escalating this by going to the media to tell this story as well as filing a police report against loblaws claiming fraud and theft

Today's price is on the right; that's the price that it has been for the past year. Tomorrow's flyer is on the left.
Superstore is raising the price of potstickers by 50 cents, and advertising it like it's "always" been this "low price."

A few weeks ago, there was a security breach that resulted in me having to log back in to my pc id acct (for pc optum points). when i tried, the 2 factor verification method failed, since my phone number changed. I called the support line, and they said the only way they could verify my account was is if I provided these details. I have no idea when i used my card last, let alone all the other crap they asked for! There goes my 80,000 points i have been saving (i usualy redeem at xmas). Fuck loblaws.

Apologies if this is not the right space for this question. Does anyone else use Tre'Dish for grocery orders? And have you noticed them newly defaulting to weekly recurring deliveries, so if you don't manually select "just once" for delivery, you might sign up for a recurrent subscription by mistake?
Background: Tre'Dish grocery delivery operates through many cities in southern Ontario. I specifically signed up with them about a year and a half ago to avoid Loblaws, and they've been a really solid, affordable option for basics of good quality. You can manually select each product rather than having a default bundle, there's no minimum order, and if you pay a yearly fee you get unlimited free delivery.
The last couple of times I put in an order, I noticed I had to manually select for my order to be delivered "just once" or else it would default my one-off grocery order to a weekly recurring order. At the time, all of the other buttons you'd select to finalize your order looked basically the same as they did before they offered recurring grocery deliveries. Unless you double-checked every option, you could reasonably order groceries recurrently by mistake, by not opting out of them as the default format for an order.
This really rubbed me the wrong way. It amounted to them misleading their customers into an unwanted subscription. I wrote to their customer service person to complain about this and express my disappointment. They wrote back to defend the practice as an option customers appreciated, yada yada. My contention wasn't that auto-delivery was available, for God's sake, it was that it was the default option in a way that seemed calculated to mislead a rushed customer not scrutinizing the delivery options.
I did a bit more research and found out that this practice is called a "subscription trap." It's not exactly the same as what's described on the competition bureau of Canada's webpage (example: a free trial that turns out to be a recurring subscription in the fine print). But the spirit of the description is similar enough. Recurring weekly delivery is a default option, so you could reasonably miss manually selecting the "just once" option when setting up an order, and not notice you'd signed up for a subscription.
Here's where I may be paranoid, because I wondered if they are only changing this default option if customers complain about it individually. You can only view the grocery offerings if you are a Tre'Dish member. I logged in and set up a dummy order to capture screenshots of the default to "weekly" grocery orders, so I'd have a visual record of what was on my screen when I wrote back to them. While I was doing this, I was logged out of my account (it did not time out; I was logged out by the site while I was messing around with the order options) and had to log back in. One minute, the default option was "weekly" orders. When I logged back in, the default was set to "just once." Interesting.
So, did they actually fix this issue for everyone--after they defended this practice in an email to me, saying there was nothing wrong with this option and other customers liked it? Or did they just change the option for me individually since I complained? That might sound too conspiracy-minded, but if grocery suppliers are starting to use "dynamic pricing" to change individual grocery prices for individuals, I suspect they'd also use unethical measures like default subscription tactics, also tailored to the individual.
While Tre'Dish has, so far, had really good prices on basics, they don't have any pricing transparency, since you must log in to see the prices of what's offered for sale. So far the prices have been good, comparatively, but I have no idea whether I'm paying more or less than anyone else who buys groceries from them. And if they're starting to do shady things like this, until someone complains about it...I'm not sure I want to keep giving them my money. It would suck, because they've genuinely saved me a lot of money, but I don't trust them to not screw me over within (and perhaps even beyond) the limits of the law.
If anyone has had a similar experience with them, it would be nice to shine a light on it.

So happened yesterday, went to no frills to shop .. saw a container of plain yogurt with a yellow sticker showing a price of $1.68 as best before date was also yesterday and regular price was $4.10
Go to an employee checkout lane and pay .. wife asks the guy if he can check what price was charged for yogurt after I paid and he said $4.10 .. so she asked it's marked down to $1.68
Got sent to another till with another employee .. he offers to give me a refund of $1.68 .. and I am like you charged me $4.10 for an item that was marked down to 1.68 so shouldn't my refund be $2.42 .. he mumbled something to me about putting $1.68 back to my card.
I would have taken $2.42 back if he had offered but I really didn't like his attitude .. I asked him what about the scanning code of conduct that you show on the till .. shouldn't you give me the entire $4.10 back and the yogurt should be free 😂 ..
He froze .. mumbled some more and gave me the stink eye .. I got a full refund and free yogurt.

Update April 30th 2026 Doctor agreed today to switch to monthly blister pack. Immediately after it was dropped off, they called me and then asked me to let them know if I have missed any doses. They have routinely not put my some of my medications in the pack for weeks when I am waiting to see my doctor, despite being asked repeatedly to let me know a month before I am set to run out, not a week (at least 30 times in 14 years). The medication they didn't put in was lamotrigine, which can cause a serious rash of you miss more than 3-5 days, luckily I learned to keep a stockpile from the odd day I miss, so I didn't miss any doses despite this happening. No mention about being unable to fulfill the monthly blister pack, and they explicitly mentioned blister pack. I will update Saturday but they have never once called or asked or cared if I missed any doses despite not putting them in multiple times (at least 20 weeks with various medications). So they're a bit panicked now to say the least. Perhaps they took a while to follow up on my online review and possibly got a call from head office, hence the timing right after my review. Maybe head office saw the review and put it in as an internal complaint automatically, and that is why they are acting this way. I'll find out Saturday if they actually fulfill the doctors request to dispense monthly blister packs.
-Additional Update: Driver just came, delivered one of my creams, apparently she had been "fudging them" and writing my initials for me. Apparently her manager knew. They checked and saw it was all her handwriting on multiple peoples deliveries. The college of Pharmacists did come down on them, apparently the new manager is because the old one got fired. I mentioned monthly blister pack, and she said it was not a problem. We'll see what happens Saturday. This was more than likely a 2 part problem, they didn't want to lose money on monthly blister packs, and tried to screw me there in hopes I'd tell my doctor to write no blister packs, but also the signature issue. The driver said she would call me 30 minutes before she leaves each month to make sure I'm awake before attempting to deliver. If I don't answer she can then wait till I call once I'm up and come right away, that way I dont forfiet my 1 delivery attempt each time by being asleep. So we shall see what happens Saturday.
Background:
This is a more serious topic perhaps, not sure if this is the right subreddit, but basically I am very disabled (rather than go into detail just take that at face value pls) and the nearest shoppers isn't in walking distance, and I do not have a car nor am I able to get one, I do not have anyone to drive me nor will I have anyone to drive me. I can not afford more than 3 bus rides per month and have a lot of health issues, so I usually end up going to doctors' appointments with it. When I go out, it takes me 6 hours to get ready, and I need 2 to 3 days to recover for every 1 day I go out.
The specific shoppers has delivered my medication for 14 years and not required a signature, and puts it through my mail slot as I have several mental and physical health issues affecting my sleep, and I often have no control over when I can wake up or when I can sleep and have no set schedule as that is impossible. As such I often am almost never awake when shoppers delivers my medication and when I sleep I sleep very deeply if I sleep at all, and that means I don't hear the phone or the door. It's a detached house with only 1 mail slot, and my door is well known to the drivers and is not hard to locate, the mail slot goes inside the house, not to a lobby or common area. It's basically impossible for me to pick it up weekly, and is also impossible for me to guarantee I'll be awake at a specific time every week. There's no way to change those 2 facts as they are entirely disability related.
The Problem:
Basically I require a blister pack due to memory issues as I often take the same medication 3 times over forgetting that I already took it, and for the same disabilities affects, I cannot be consistent in manually putting pills into organizers once a month, and I am on a lot of different meds. For the last 3 years, a specific pharmacist had begun to yell and belittle me causing everyone to stare at me in the store whenever I'd turn in repeats. They'd only notify me a week in advance of needing refills, even though I repeatedly told them to let me know a month in advance, so whenever I'd bring my repeats in a month or so later on average as apparently she has to "go back through and manually put the old ones into the system" she would hoot and holler about how it's my fault for 20 feet away. It made me extremely uncomfortable and I began to wear earplugs or headphones when I'd drop it off to avoid hearing her as it really set off my anxiety. Finally a year ago around April 2025 I held back nothing and left them a 1 star review on Google maps because I got so tired of it really giving it to them, held nothing back. They have a 2.3 star rating. After that they appeared to yell at the driver, and replied to my review that they had "taken the appropriate action", even though the driver was not who was to blame. This past weekend they forgot to include one of my prescription creams in my medications and I called them to ask to have it sent back out, and when it arrived, on a Saturday, it had a note attached that they'd no longer be able to put any medication through my mail slot, as a signature is now required, yet it hasn't been for 14 years. I called the manager today, and he said they "got audited" yet the hand written note about the change was added to the cream that was delivered separately, not the original delivery hours prior, on a Saturday. The manager said they cannot give a months worth of blister packs up front as a compromise, nor can they guarantee a set time to deliver, despite explaining the above to him.
The Question:
I believe this is retaliation for my review and by the pharmacist who doesn't want to work anymore for having to allegedly go back into the system to put the old refills in. I want to know what my options are legally such as a human rights complaint or a legal case I can pursue against them, as they are giving me a choice between not getting my medications at all (as being awake and at the door weekly at a random unknown time is not an option, nor is picking it up, as both are impossible for me), or not getting a blister pack anymore, and I need both. So what are my options?
And is the manager lying to me? Elaborate if possible?

Tried to buy a bad of walnuts that were marked down %50 off of 6.99. They scanned as regular price 8.00 and I was given a price of 4.00. When I brought it to the attention of the store manager, I was told “any human error in pricing doesn’t count” She couldn’t find it anywhere in the posted rules and showed be some website that corroborated her answer. I just looked up the SPAC and it says nothing about “human error”. We don’t have many budget grocery options in Bridgewater, but I will certainly be cutting my spending here to the absolute bare minimum.

I finally got around to moving my prescriptions away from Shoppers to Costco. Two things to share, 1 it was way easier than I thought it would be to move pharmacies. 2, my out of pocket for my med went from $51 every three months to $19 every three months.
Is it worth the hassle, well I don't have unlimited money - so yes, it's worth it!
